・Story of the Time When Gods were Everywhere
As the symbols on the screen are touched by children, they evolve into the images that they represent. As more images are created by this tactile function, a story begins to emerge. The objects that emerge from the symbols influence one another and are influenced by the actions of other people. For example, a bird lands on a tree, a sheep runs away from a dog, and a sheep dances as a child approaches it.
Story of the Time When Gods were Everywhere

Arita Porcelain Park, Saga in 4K - 有田ポーセリンパーク - Japan As It Truly Is
The Arita Porcelain Park will make your head spin as you think you suddenly walked to the Zwinger Palace in Dresden, Germany.
Walking through the Arita Porcelain Park is like being in a small German village, and inside the palace is a museum where you can see both precious European poreclain on one side and beautiful Arita-yaki porcelain on the other. Even more mind blowing is that walking around the palace and grounds is completely free!
The Arita Porcelain Park is best accessed by car, but it's still possible to take a train to Arita Stn and catch a taxi. Don't miss the kiln in the back.

We went to a light-up art show!
This summer there was a digital art exhibition at Mifuneyama in Saga prefecture, where an already beautiful outdoor park was transformed into a light-up art installation. It was incredible! This is our first time getting to visit a TeamLab exhibition, which are apparently all over Asia now, and it was an incredible experience! We highly, highly recommend visiting any that you can! I hope I get the chance to see the ones in Tokyo one day!

・Crows are chased and the chasing crows are destined to be chased as well, Division in Perspective – Light in Dark
A digital installation in three dimensions on seven screens.
This is an artwork that explores Japanese spatial awareness. It exists in three dimensions in a three-dimensional space that we call Ultra Subjective Space. The Japanese mythical bird Yatagarasu*, rendered in light, flies around the space leaving trails of light in its path, creating spatial calligraphy. As the crows chase and are chased by each other through the air, they become flowers, and eventually scatter.
The Itano Circus is a unique technique pioneered by Japanese animation and created by animator Ichiro Itano. In this technique, a screen is packed to capacity with swarms of flying missiles that are drawn in a completely distorted perspective. These distortions give the audience a stronger sense of dynamic movement and impact. Through ultra-high-speed camera work, and through staging that envelops the viewer’s perspective, this technique creates an overwhelmingly beautiful image.
In this digital artwork, an homage to the Itano Circus, teamLab has recreated this distortion of space, formerly used in 2-D animation, in a 3-D space. This is an exploration of 1) what sort of logical structure of spatial perception constitutes this distortion of space pioneered by Japan’s animators, and 2) the hypothesis that this is in line with the continuous tradition of Japanese spatial perception. By recreating this distortion of space in a 3-D space, teamLab widens the perspectival viewpoint. This work is also an experiment into the viewer’s visual experience, as it divides the viewer’s perspective while deploying divided perspective into 3-D space.
*Yatagarasu, the three-legged crow, is a creature found in Japanese mythology. It is believed to represent the sun and the will of Heaven.
Crows are chased and the chasing crows are destined to be chased as well, Division in Perspective – Light in Dark

This video is available with supplementary captions.
360° KYUSHUxTOKYO is the project that shows you the must-see wonders of Tokyo and prefectures of the Kyushu region, in western Japan, in pairs.
This chapter’s theme is “History”, introducing the Edo-Tokyo Museum(Tokyo) and Yoshinogari Site(Saga)
■Tokyo:Edo-Tokyo Museum
A realistic recreation of the Tokyo of three centuries ago, when it was a town named Edo bustling with merchants and craftsmen. The Edo-Tokyo Museum displays treasured historic buildings and scenes of everyday Edo life.
The museum also features a theatre for traditional Japanese artistic performances, such as koto, the stringed instrument, daikagura, a juggling and balancing act and kamikiri, or papercutting.
Edo-Tokyo Museum
■Saga:Yoshinogari Site
The Yoshinogari site is the scene of a village that existed here during the Yayoi period over 3,000 years ago.
The beautiful park recreates some 20 structures that existed
at the time.
There are plenty of Yayoi period activities to try here, including fire- and magatama (teardrop-shaped beads)-making.
The view across the charming village and ancient forest from the watchtower is breathtaking.

・What a Loving, and Beautiful World
When your shadow touches a character, the world that that character embodies will appear and a new world will be created.
The objects that are released from the characters go on to influence one another in the new world.
Behind the projected world, there is a 360-degree computer-generated space. The objects that are born from the characters are placed at various positions within that space, and the physical influences and connections between the objects are calculated in real time, producing a complex and natural world. For example, if the wind blows, the objects are subjected to its physical influence. Butterflies are frightened by fire, but attracted to flowers. Just as in nature, no two moments are repeated. The passing moments of the world are never the same and new visual worlds are constantly being created.
Chinese characters were first carved in turtle shells and ox or deer bones, and were engraved in bronze ware. It can be said that at that time, each character contained its own world that was conjured up by it’s meaning. Through the characters, the world that you call up and the worlds that those around you call up connect and influence each other to create a new world.
What a Loving, and Beautiful World
