Saidpur just outside of Islamabad, Pakistan is a beautiful village with a lot of history. It is home to Sikh Gurdwara and a colourfully decorated Hindu Temple.

SAID PUR VILLAGE ATTRACTION
It takes just a few minutes from the Supermarket of Islamabad to reach the “Saidpur”. It is very beautiful village of the Capital city of Pakistan. Recently it got the official status of tourist site from the Government. Islamabad was found in the late 60’s and it is the most modern city of the country. This traditional area of “Saidpur” village exists in that modern city. It is exploited by the citizens and few tourists.
The wall of this village was painted and few were reinvented. It has a couple of old buildings too which were restored to the current position. Cobble stones are used in the making of the pavement and it goes as the middle of its premises. Its landscape is full of flowers and other beautiful plants. Play grounds and the food are also available here for the visitors.
TOURIST ATTRACTION
It is a commercial place too as the tourist trend is growing up in the Pakistan now days. Most of peoples want to relax in the natural atmosphere in the holidays. Under the feet of Margalla hills this historic village which offers you that environment. Predominant Hindu was living here at first. When both the countries got the freedom and separated from each other, most of the Hindu peoples migrated to their new country. A Temple of Hindu believer is left here to tell us the story.
This Temple shows a very good gesture of the local community that they did not delete it from the. All the walls are painted for the visitor obviously but it is not the only symbol of its attraction, there are many more. A 3 domes building complex is situated near by this Temple. A double story building is next to it where Hindu orphanage used to live in.

Amazing Historical Saidpur Village Margalla Road Islamabad Capital of Pakistan
Historical Saidpur Village Margalla Road Islamabad :
Saidpur is a four or five hundred years old village nestled in the Margallah Hills overlooking Islamabad. Built along the slope of the hills, and gradually creeping upwards, the village presents a picturesque view, particularly in the soft light of morning or afternoon sun. Saidpur is named after Said Khan, the son of Sultan Sarang Khan, the Gakhar chief of the Potohar region during Emperor Babur’s time. Emperor Jahangir’s memoir, Tuzke Jahangiri, mentions Jahangir’s halting at a place “beyond Rawalpindi”, on his way to Kabul. From his description it seems the place was Saidpur. The Persian book `Kaigor Namah’ beautifully describes the place during the visit of the Mughal commander Raja Man Singh in about 1580. It was a garden resort with a number of natural streams supplying water for drinking and irrigation. Raja Man Singh was so enamored by the village that he turned it into a place of religious worship. He constructed raised platforms, walled enclosures and a number of kunds (ponds) called Rama kunda, Sita kunda, Lakshaman kunda and Hanuman kunda named after the characters of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Saidpur was declared a pilgrim centre and Rama kunda was preserved right up to 1947. The first thing one notices on entering the village (and that is a big surprise), past a green domed mosque, is a Hindu temple, prominently situated and newly restored and painted. A little removed from the temple, to the left, is a small building with two orange coloured domes. A plaque on this building, written in what appears to be Gurmukhi, suggests it might have been a Gurdwara or a Sikh shrine. Between the temple and the `Gurdwara’ is a neat, two-storey building that was an orphanage (Dharamsala) at one time. The temple is mentioned in the Punjab Gazetteer of Rawalpindi district of 1893-94, which suggests it is over a hundred years old. It’s amazing that a temple and gurdwara survived in a village that had no Hindu or Sikh population since 1947. Saidpur is also known for making unglazed pottery. The distinct cultural identity of Saidpur has always been its pottery and it has always been known as the potters’ village. The shrine of Zinda Pir or the Living Saint is located just a couple of hundred feet above the temple on the hill slope under a pair of old banyan trees.

History
Said Khan gifted Saidpur village to his daughter who was married to Mughal emperor Jahangir son of Mughal emperor Akbar. Jahangir's memoir, Tuzk-e-Jahangiri mentions him residing at a place “beyond Rawalpindi”, on his way to Kabul, which is believed to be Saidpur.
Saidpur was considered a garden resort and a perpetual spring provided water for drinking and for watering gardens around during the Mughal period.
The village was converted into a place of Hindu worship by a Hindu commander, Raja Man Singh. He constructed a number of small ponds: Rama kunda, Sita kunda, Lakshaman kunda, and Hanuman kunda. The region is home to many Hindu temples that have been preserved; showing the history of Hindu civilisation and architecture in the region.
In 2006, the Capital Development Authority, under the guidance of Kamran Lashari, initiated restoration of Saidpur, with the aim of both preserving heritage and encouraging tourism. Representatives of the French government provided technical assistance, while French architect Max Boisrobert visited the site on the invitation of Ambassador of France to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Régis de Belenet.
The initial cost of the project was estimated to be around 400 million rupees.

Saidpur is a historic village established by a Gakhar chief Said khan, the village had been there in the times of Mughal era and earlier as well. The village has a Gurdwara marking the Sikh presence in the old times. The temple was constructed on the instructions from Maan Singh the Army chief of Akber. The village was gifted by Said Khan to his daughter, who was married to Mughal emperor Jahangir.
