- Views of the port protected by the gods - Located on the south side of Saigō Bay, the observatory offers views spanning from Saigō Bay to Mr. Daimanji. The lighthouse, built on the remains of a crater, was completed in 1921 using the first lens issued in Japan, and ensures maritime safety even today. This is a well-known spot for watching boats coming in and out of the bay as well as seeing sunrise, sunset, and the lights of squid fishing boats, called isaribi.
