Saigo Takamori, in Kagoshima, his birth place
Welcome to Kagoshima! Mr. SAIGO Statue looks cute with a bird on his head
Many people like Mr.Saigo very much.
He is the hero of Kagoshima and Japan.
When I took the video of the statue, a bird was taking rest on his head.
(His origin)
He was born in Kagoshima City.
When he was young, he made plan to improve the agricultural situation of Kagoshima.
Because this plan was so nice that he was appointed to the important position of Kagoshima government.
(Important accomplishment)
He played an important role in Meiji Restoration.
He succeeded in making Satsuma and Choshu alliance, which eventually defeated Shogun Dynasty.
While many other politicians went abroad to study western countries, he took a complete control of the new government.
(Death)
After Meiji Restoration, Samurai system was abolished.
Samurai could no longer bring swords and they were not satisfied with the new government.
Some of Samurai planed rebellion to change the government.
Mr. Saigo suggested that Japan should attack Korea in order to soothe the compliments.
But his suggestion was denied, and he returned to Kagoshima.
Ex-Samurai worriers in Kagoshima started rebellion.
At first, Mr.Saigo was opposed to this rebellion, but later he agreed to become their leader.
The Seinan Civil War started.
This is the last civil war in Japan.
He committed suicide during the battle in Shiroyama, Kagoshima City.

Statue of Komatsu Tatewaki : Great Contributor to Meiji Restoration (Kagoshima City)
The stature stands in front of Hozan Hall. It faces to Statue of Saigo Takamori, who is also a great contributor to Meiji Restoration and a hero of Kagoshima!

日本人なら誰でも知っている明治維新の立役者薩摩出身西郷隆盛氏！常に日本のことを考えていた方！また悲劇の人！最後は有名な田原坂で.....！ちなみにこの西郷隆盛さんの銅像を見た奥さんは『うちの人はこんな人ではない』と言ったそうです！

上野恩賜公園（うえのおんしこうえん）は、東京都台東区にある公園。通称上野公園。

「上野の山」とも呼ばれる。総面積約53万m²。東京都建設局の管轄。公園内には博物館、動物園等、多くの文化施設が存在する。

This is just the place where the hero was born and he changed the history of Kagoshima Prefecture and whole Japan!
西郷隆盛の誕生地にやってきましたぁ！
ここで鹿児島と日本の歴史を変えた英雄が生まれました。
Saigo Takamori was not born in a high-class aristocracy but in a low-class Samurai family. The feudal lord Shimazu Nariakira of that time discovered Saigo's extraordinary talent and employed him as his key servant. This was the beginning of Saigo's political life.
西郷隆盛は生まれつき偉かったわけではありません。
下級武士の生まれでしたが、当時の薩摩の大名だった島津斉彬にその才能を見出されて政治家として歩んでいくのです。
Nariakira Shimazu is famous as an inventer of Japanese national flag Hinomaru.
島津斉彬は日の丸の発明者としても有名ですよ！
His birthplace is only a stone throw from Kagoshima Chuo Station. It takes only 15 minutes by foot. The Kotsuki River flows near the birthplace.
西郷隆盛の誕生地は、鹿児島中央駅から歩いて15分くらいの甲突川沿いにあります。

La préfecture de Kagoshima regorge de choses à voir et à goûter. Son histoire la place au centre de la restauration de Meiji (1868-1912) alors que la ville (anciennement nommée Satsuma) assiste à la mort de Saigo Takamori lors de sa dernière révolte en 1877.

VOYAGE AU RYUGU JINJA
On y va en train à partir de la gare de Kagoshima (Chûô eki – celle du centre-ville avec la grande roue). Ça coûte 1 000¥ l’aller. Train direction Ibusuki 指宿 (que l’on traverse), et on descend à la gare « Nishi ooyama – 西大山). Arrivé à la gare il y a un magasin qui fait épicerie et restaurant. C’est là que vous louez le vélo pour aller au temple. Besoin d’une pièce d’identité genre passeport pour louer le vélo.

西郷隆盛像 in 上野公園 Statue of Saigou Takamori in Ueno Park
上野公園の西郷隆盛像周辺を撮影しました。西郷さんの銅像は、UENO3153（西郷さん）ビルの屋上にあるんです。
上野駅、京成上野駅、上野動物園、東京都美術館が近くにあります。
上野動物園はシャンシャンが公開され、西郷隆盛像は大河ドラマ「西郷どん」でも映ってましたね。
