MEKONG DELTA VIETNAM - Saigon Day Trip
We experienced local life along the Mekong Delta Vietnam for our last day in Saigon. We show you the best Saigon day trip that Vietnam has to offer, traveling by boat down the Mekong Delta and exploring a local Vietnam village along the way.
Our trip to the Mekong Delta Vietnam started with a 2 hour luxury van ride to a town called My Tho. Although we don’t normally take public tours, we arranged a small 6 person group tour with Vietnam Adventure Tours. Once we arrived in My Tho, we boarded a private boat to set sail down the Mekong Delta River. The 15 minute boat ride took us across the Mekong river to unicorn island where we explored a tourist area set up to mimic a traditional Vietnam Village. The activities on this island include: Bee Farm and Honey Tasting, Snake Holding, Coconut Candy Production, Chocolate Production, Snake Wine, and a Fruit Farm with traditional Mekong Delta music.
Next we got back on the Vietnam boat tour down the Mekong Delta to visit the area of Ben Tre. This is where we got to see a side of a more authentic Vietnam by boating down the river in a small sampan boat. This is one of the best things to do in Vietnam because you get to experience a world away from all development. We wish this part of the Mekong river tour was longer, as the small sampan boat ride was only 15 minutes long.
Next up on the Mekong Delta Tour was lunch which was included in our tour and very delicious. We were served a variety of Vietnamese food including fish, spring rolls, soup, rice, morning glory and prawns. The Vietnamese lunch was absolutely delicious!
When visiting Saigon Vietnam, we highly recommend you put a Mekong Delta Tour on your list of must do activities. Out of all the things to do in Saigon, this was one of our favorites! A quick 2 hour Saigon day trip away seems like a completely separate world apart from the hustle of Ho Chi Minh City.
If you’re interested in booking one of the best tours in Saigon, contact Vietnam Adventure Tours and request Van as your tour guide! The tour you see is the VIP Mekong Delta Tour with a luxury 7 person limo. Most Mekong tours start from $15 USD and go up to $80 USD for a public tour, and private tours are $80 USD per person and up. We hope you enjoyed our trip down the Vietnam Mekong Delta and if you have any questions please leave us a comment! We’d love to hear about your Vietnam travel or plans to visit the area.

Saigon Vietnam Highlights Tour (4K)
Experience the sights and sounds of Saigon, Vietnam from our tour of Ho Chi Minh City during our one day stop there as part of our 14 night Asia cruise. This was with Smile Tours booked in advance before the cruise, and cost $85 per person, $50 for children 7 and under.
We left the cruise port at Phu My shortly after 7:35 AM, and embarked on an hour 20 minute drive to Saigon. En route we saw the first McDonald's Restaurant of Saigon. The first stop of the tour was the Jade Emperor Pagoda (aka Ngọc Hoàng Pagoda) at 9 AM. The tour continued with a trip to the War Remnants Museum at 9:40 AM where we got to spend an hour viewing the Vietnam War from its own perspective. Afterwards the tour bus drove past the Independence Palace, and then parked next to a park from which we walked and passed by the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon. We then went across the street to the most crowded post office we have been in- the Saigon Central Post Office, which felt more like a railway station inside with plenty of shopping opportunities.
Afterwards we ate lunch at Pho 2000 and the famous Ben Thanh Market- a haven for Vietnamese street food. We then took a Rickshaw Ride city tour- it was fun, scary, smoggy and quite the experience as you can see. It was daunting at times to be part of the traffic madness with the endless stream of motorcycle scooters and cars all around you.
The rickshaw ride ended at the Bà Thiên Hậu Temple (Sea Goddess temple dedicated to Mazu). We visited a local coffee shop afterwards before heading back on the tour bus to the cruise port in Phu My. It was about 4:30 PM when we got back, well before the cruise ship's all aboard time.
For more in-depth look at some of the places we visited in Saigon, you can take a look at our playlist here:

MEKONG RIVER DELTA TOUR :: HO CHI MINH CITY VIETNAM
The Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam is a vast maze of rivers, swamps and islands, home to floating markets, Khmer pagodas and villages surrounded by rice paddies. Boats are the main means of transportation, and tours of the region often start in nearby Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) or Can Tho, a bustling town in the heart of the delta.
Mekong Floating Markets , Ho Chi Minh ,Vietnam
version en français plus bas .
The Mekong Delta
From the heights of the Tibetan Plateau, the mighty Mekong flows through six countries, giving life and a home to millions of people. For this, it was once named “Mother of all rivers”. The Mekong is one of the most speciose rivers of the world, with approximately 1,300 varieties of fish and numerous kinds of reptiles and birds.
After a journey of 4,500 kilometres (3,000 miles) it reaches the South China Sea. Nine estuaries carry enormous amounts of silt to form one of the greatest (50,000 km2) ever growing deltas in the world. Cuu Long (nine dragons) is the Vietnamese name for the nine main estuaries. More than 13 million people live by the timeless rhythm of the river in small fishing villages and boats. There are also many Khmer and Cham who live in the Mekong delta region.
The cultivation of the Mekong delta
The beginning of cultivation of the Mekong delta can be dated back to 1750 when Vietnamese monarchs started to built canals and drain swamps to gain more land for cultivation. But the main part of the development was done by the French at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuaries.
Thousands of waterways form a labyrinth of major currents and secluded canals lined with lush vegetation, mangrove swamps and verdant rice fields. Due to the fertile soil and the production of 16 million tonnes of rice per year (harvested in three crops) the Mekong delta is also called “rice bowl” of Vietnam.
The Mekong delta is an exotic paradise for travellers from all over the world: good climate, an abundance of tropical fruit, sugar cane, coconuts and colourful flowers, a relaxed atmosphere and the generous mentality of the people. Lots of the activities in the area take place on the vast waterways. Most houses have access to the river, not all of them to roads.
Tour around Vietnam, The mekong River Ho Chi Minh
Hi everyone again, I am back with a video about Vietnam, more specifically the Mekong River Tour that we did on December 2018 from the Ho Chi Minh City. I hope you enjoy.

Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country on the South China Sea known for its beaches, rivers, Buddhist pagodas and bustling cities. Hanoi, the capital, pays homage to the nation’s iconic Communist-era leader, Ho Chi Minh, via a huge marble mausoleum. Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) has French colonial landmarks, plus Vietnamese War history museums and the Củ Chi tunnels, used by Viet Cong soldiers.
The Mekong is a trans-boundary river in Southeast Asia. It is the world's twelfth longest river and the seventh longest in Asia. Its estimated length is 4,350 km, and it drains an area of 795,000 km², discharging 475 km³ of water annually

A full day tour ex-Ho Chi Minh City of the various islands of Mekong Delta. I visited a coconut candy workshop, bee farm, did boating and a lot more fun. Watch this video to find out if heading on the day tour to the Mekong delta is worth it. I definitely had mixed feelings.

Mekong delta Tour 2019 || Day trip Saigon || Vietnam Vlog 4
it was my best experience in Saigon( ho chi Minh ). I got some experience with the Mekong Delta area. The area was superb. I felt about the Vietnam war when visiting this place. I felt rural village culture in this area. So on one hand, it is recommended the place to visit in Saigon.

VIETNAM Part 1:

Mekong Delta Tour Film ???????? (Ho Chi Minh City)
One of the most popular tour in Ho chi minh city(Saigon) is the Mekong Delta tour. Starting from less than 20 USD or 400K VND, you can spend the day experiencing the local vietnamese life alongside the Mekong river.
But like the other tours in Vietnam, the tour guide will try to sell products all the time. I would say don't expect too much since the tour comes at such an affordable price :)

3 Days in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam | Park Hyatt Saigon, Mekong Delta, Cu Chi Tunnels | Honeymoon Vlog
The first stop of our honeymoon was in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Most people will seek the beautiful views in Vietnam but since Robin had already been to Hanoi, we decided to explore the South where the culture is more progressive and the food is supposedly better.
Vietnam has 95M people and 75M scooters, they are everywhere! Traffic is terrible but thankfully the city is small and very walkable (my favorite). We enjoyed lots of street food including sea snails and sugar cane juice at Ben Thanh Street Food Market. The city comes alive at night where you’ll see several young couples on boba dates (#ILoveTaiwan). We also learned a lot on our tours through Green Era Travel to the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network of tunnels that the Vietnamese used during the Vietnam War.
I loved Vietnam! This vlog is a pretty good example of how we spent our honeymoon in the other destinations, Bangkok and Siem Reap, eating a lot and learning as much as we could about the culture. Let me know if you want to see the other places too!

23 Things To Do In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam
►Read 23 Things to do in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam:
►FREE eBook:
When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.
