SWIM ASHORE || Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay, Jost Van Dyke - British Virgin Islands Dec 2018
Come ashore with me to the home of The Soggy Dollar Bar - the picture-perfect White Bay on the island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. We visited this tiny Caribbean island in December 2018 on a bareboat charter sailing trip, just a few days before Christmas.
This video clearly shows how The Soggy Dollar Bar got its name. Because White Bay has no dock, the only way to access it is by swimming ashore. Hence all the wet dollar bills that are used to pay for the most popular drink in the BVI's: the Painkiller. Made with run, cream of coconut, orange juice, pineapple juice and a generous dusting of freshly-grated nutmeg on top, this quintessential beach cocktail originated right here at the The Soggy Dollar Bar.
Much like the rest of the BVI'S, The Soggy Dollar Bar was destroyed during Hurricane Irma. As you can see in this video, that hasn't stopped them from rebuilding and getting back to business at hand - making delicious drinks in paradise.

A Beautiful Day on White Bay! in Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands, CARIBBEAN
Title says it all on this one.. was a beautiful Saturday afternoon on the beach at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands, Caribbean! My favorite color has always been turquoise.. just like the shallow waters in the Caribbean, and White Bay sure delivers its share of that!
Top it off with some good friends around, cold beers, great local music, and a nice palm tree to plant your butt under for shade, and you've got the makings for a great day off... something I don't get very often, but I sure enjoy when I do!
So you can see what I was grateful for today, so what were you grateful for? :)

British Virgin Islands Sailing - Jost Van Dyke March 2019
Hello Sailors!
This is an updated version of this video. I added a few corrections. On this second day of our sailing vacation we sail from Norman Island over to Jost Van Dyke. We pick up a mooring ball and hang out on the boat and enjoy the day. We then head into Foxy's Bar to see how he has rebuilt his bar since hurricane Irma. The original bar was tacked back together and a new beach bar has also been built.
Foxy was not around so we headed over to White Bay to have a Painkiller at the Soggy Dollar Bar! There were alot of fun people cruising around White Bay and the many other beach bars.
Later that night we headed back into Foxy's Bar to dance the night away. What a blast!
Until Next Time

Jost Van Dyke - British Virgin Islands
Thank you for viewing this video about my sailing cruise travels aboard the Guiding Light. In this video, we will start exploring Jost Van Dyke as we continue traveling through the British Virgin Islands.
As we begin our sailing cruise, we first visit the Bubbly Pool on the east end of the island. Then, as we head west, we stop at Sandy Key. The first harbor we arrive at later is Little Harbor, a quiet cove with a few restaurants. Then, we go to the gorgeous White Bay, home of the Soggy Dollar Bar. Our final stop is Great Harbor, home to the local settlement and Foxy's Bar.

BVI Sailing - Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Marina Cay, Jost Van Dyke, Norman Island
It was time to finally put our ASA 101, 103, & 104 certifications from the previous summer up to the test. We flew into St. Thomas Airport in the US Virgin Islands, cleared customs, then took a ferry to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. We rented a 39 foot sailboat from Wickhams Cay 2 on Tortola and set sail the following morning. Our sail plan was as follows:
Day 1: Tortola to Cooper Island
Day 2: Cooper Island to Saba Rock
Day 3: Saba Rock to Marina Cay
Day 4: Marina Cay to Jost Van Dyke
Day 5: Jost Van Dyke, relax and scuba dive
Day 6: Jost Van Dyke to Norman Island
Day 7: Norman Island to Wickhams Cay II, Tortola
This was our final vacation, as we would be heading back to New York City to prepare to resign from our jobs, sell all of our stuff, and begin our journey of traveling the world for a year.

This excursion is all about enjoying the thrill of the outdoors, an ideal combination of an invigorating cruise, an idyllic beach and Caribbean ambiance. Sit back and enjoy the views to port and starboard of this island archipelago en route to your first stop, White Bay on Jost Van Dyke. The catamaran will nose up to the beach to allow you to step ashore on one of the British Virgin Islands most magnificent beaches. You’ll find yourself in paradise with crystal clear blue waters lapping at a picture perfect white sand beach fringed by palm trees.
Don't miss your chance to visit the world famous Soggy Dollar Bar. Here you can enjoy a refreshing Painkiller, the famous cocktail invented here. Stroll along the beach, swim in the warm waters or simply sit back and soak up some sun, you have plenty time on this trip. To round out your escape to Jost Van Dyke, the crew will supply you with unlimited fruit or rum punch on the return leg to the cruise pier.
Note: In the event conditions are rough, the boat will anchor just short of the beach and guests will swim the short distance to shore (approx. 30'. Participants must be able to swim as there is no dock at White Bay. With the shallow draft of the catamaran, guests can be dropped right at the beach, making it a very short distance to swim ashore. Crew would then assist getting bags ashore, so please limit the size of bags brought on tour.

We spent the day at Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands and the timing was perfect... there was a big North swell running in the Atlantic so that meant fun times at the Bubbly Pools! The water was a spectacular turquoise this week, almost electric! After fun at the Bubbly Pools we took the dinghy around to Great Harbor and met up with Foxy at his famous bar on the beach, and he even sang a couple songs for us!

7 Night BVI Charter Itinerary - Part 1
I wanted to put together a series videos on a recent 7 night charter we did through the US and British Virgin Islands onboard a luxury charter catamaran.
This was the first time that I used a charter broker, and was blown away by the level of concierge service received. It made the entire booking process and planning process absolutely painless. The best part of using a charter broker is that the boat paid her fees, so there was no cost to us!!!
We used Laura Jagielski with Denison Yacht Charters.
Call her at 340 473 0073 or shoot an email to Laura@denisonyachtsales.com
Day 1:
A) Meet the yacht in French Town, St. Thomas.
B) Motor from French Town to West End to clear customs
C) Motor around to Cane Garden Bay for the afternoon/evening. We hung out at Meet's.
Day 2:
A) Amazing beam reach sail from Cane Garden Bay to Sandy Spit. We hung out at Sandy Spit for a few hours.
B) Sailed from Sandy Spit around to White Bay. We hung out at the famous Soggy Dollar Bar, One Love, and Ivan's.
C) Sailed around to Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke. Had an amazing dinner on the boat, and then went ashore for drinks and dancing at Foxy's.
Day 3:
A) Sailed from Jost Van Dyke to The Indians. We hung out on the boat, did a LOT of snorkeling, and a couple of dives.
B) Sailed over to Norman Island, and picked up a mooring ball in The Bite. Went ashore to Pirate's Bite Bar, dinner on the boat, and then partying at the infamous Willy T's.

Respect in the Virgin Islands 4 is the fourth installment to our catamaran sailing series where we charter a boat for 1 week in the British Virgin Islands. Typically we adventure in the US Virgin Islands as well during this annual excursion. The main video is coming to YouTube January 2nd, 2017.
Our 4 person crew leaves St Thomas to pillage in the BVI - first landing in Great Harbour on Jost Van Dyke. After clearing customs we spent the day at White Bay drinking painkillers at the one and only Soggy Dollar Bar then plundered the shores of Great Harbour looking for tan treasures and rum filled drinks. Day 2 brought us to Diamond Cay where we hung out at Foxy's Taboo (a pork tasting day) on Jost then walked to the famous Bubbly Pool. The next segment of the trip will be at Cane Garden Bay where we will spend tonight swashbuckling on the shores of Tortola, the captain of the islands.
