Cobh Eire. Port of call on Thomson Spirit's Round GB Cruise Sept 2012
Cobh (Formally Queenstown) . Last port of call for the Titanic which was to pick up passengers before setting out on it's fateful Atlantic crossing. The Titanic Experience is on the dock where the Irish passenger were tendered out to the liner moored outside the port in the deeper water. It's well worth a visit. Just up the road we had the best chicken sandwiches ever in Dave's Coffee House in the square, highly recommended. A lovely priest took us around the Cathedral. The land train was good with an excellent and humorous commentary from the driver. The town's brass band played us away as we sailed. Checkout the ladies dressed in the same style clothes that were worn when the Titanic arrived! Fortunately we didn't encounter any icebergs on our cruise! We will return and spend longer here one day!
