EXPLORING the BEACHES of MYKONOS: the GOOD, the BAD and the SUPER UGLY (GREECE) ????️????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go to one of the world's most famous island, the Greek island of Mykonos and let's visit a few of its 27 (official) beaches. We are going to visit the beaches of Ornos, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agios Stephanos, Agia Anna, Kalafatis, Platis Yialos (and others) and we will place the beaches into 3 categories: the Good (meaning, I liked them), the Bad (meaning they were ok, there is something annoying about them) and the Ugly (which really means I disliked them). At the end, we will see the last undeveloped beach (which will be taken over and will be completely changed within a year).
The first 3 beaches, ELIA, KALAFATIS and KALO LIVADHI - you will need transportation (I had a motorcycle, which was ok) to get to. AGIOS STEFANOS is the closest to the main town and you can there in 10 minutes by bus, it is very close to the new port or the main marina; AGIA ANNA, you will need transportation as well; ONOS, you can there by bus from the main town (10 minutes by bus), sae with PLATIS YIALOS (or GIALOS); PANORMOS, you will need transportation, it is quite far; and finally, for both, PARADISE and SUPER PARADISE BEACH, you will need your own transportation.. I mentioned the names of the beaches here in the order that they appear on the video!!
Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and remnants of its occupation by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades. The city of Rhodes has an Old Town featuring the medieval Street of the Knights and the castlelike Palace of the Grand Masters. Captured by the Ottomans and then held by the Italians, the palace is now a history museum.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

06 MYKONOS ANO MERA a DIMASTO KALAFATIS GRECIA
06 MYKONOS ANO MERA a DIMASTO KALAFATIS GRECIA

Skopelos
Skopelos ( )(Greek: Σκόπελος) is a Greek island in the western Aegean sea. Skopelos is the largest of several islands which comprise the Northern Sporades island group. The island is located east of mainland Greece, northeast of the island of Euboea and is part of the Prefecture of Magnesias in the Periphery of Thessaly. Skopelos is also the name of the main port and the municipal center of the island. The other communities of the island are Glossa and Neo Klima (Elios). The geography of Skopelos includes two mountains over 500 meters; Delphi (681 m) in the center of the island, and Palouki (546 m) in the southeast. The nearest inhabited islands are Skiathos to the west and Alonissos to the east.
History
In island legend Skopelos was founded by Staphylos or Staphylus (Greek for grape), one of the sons of the god Dionysos and the Princess Ariadne of Crete. Historically, in the Late Bronze Age Skopelos, then known as Peparethos (Πεπάρηθος) or Peparethus, was colonised by Cretans who introduced viticulture to the island.
Perhaps because of the legend of its founding by the son of the god of wine, the island was known throughout the ancient Greek cities of the Mediterranean Sea for its wine. The play Philoctetes (first performed at the Festival of Dionysus in 409 BC) by Sophocles includes a wine merchant lost on his way to Peparethos - rich in grapes and wine.
In 1936 excavations in the area of Staphylos / Velanio uncovered a royal tomb of the era of Mycenaean Greece. The island was briefly under the control of the city-state Chalcis, Euboea since at least the 8th century BC.
Local food production
Olives and olive oil: Olive oil plays a role in the Skopelos diet, being the basis of all recipes of traditional cuisine. The most prevalent olive is the Pelion variety, larger and rounder than the Kalamata. For eating the olives are cured both in the unripened and the ripened stages.
Feta: A semi-soft, crumbly, well-salted white cheese made from goat milk. Used in Skopelos cheese pie and other vegetable pies, added to salads and served with meals.
Cheese Pie: Not by definition a real pie, but a tiropita, a deep fried spiral of cheese stuffed phyllo dough. The pie is generally about 15 cm in diameter and 3 cm high.
Honey: Honey in Skopelos is mainly pine honey from conifer trees and flower-honey from the nectar of fruit trees and wild flowers.
Prunes: Oven or sun dried Blue or Red Plums.
Environment
Skopelos is one of the greenest islands in the Aegean Sea. The island has a wide range of flowers, trees and shrubs. The local vegetation is chiefly made up of forests of Aleppo Pines (Pinus halepensis), Kermes Oaks (Quercus coccifera), a small forest of Holm Oaks (Quercus ilex), Oleo-Ceratonion maquis, fruit trees and olive groves. The pine forests on Skopelos have replaced oak species that predominated in the past; this is due to a preference for pine trees, since their timber is widely used for ship construction.
hurches
The island has more than 360 churches and chapels. Most are closed through the years except for the feast day of whom or whatever the church has been dedicated. Most have been privately built. The oldest existing ecclesiastical structure is the basilica of Agios Athanasios built in the 11th century and located in the Kastro area. All except one of the churches on the island observe the Greek Orthodox faith. The remaining church hosts a small enclave of Jehovah's Witnesses. Christianity was formalized in Skopelos by the appointment of the Bishop Riginos in the 4th century. Under the Reign of the Emperor Julian the Apostate, Riginos was martyred in 362 AD The saint's feast day is February 25 - a holiday on the island.

Hermitage Exhibition at Byzantine and Christian Museum (Athens)
02 November 2016 until 07 March 2017
The exhibition with Treasures from the Collections of the State Hermitage Museum is the culmination of a series of exhibitions and events which the Byzantine and Christian Museum staged in 2016 to celebrate the dedicatory cross-cultural year ‘Greece in Russia, Russia in Greece 2016’. Significant archaeological treasures and works of art that come from the imperial collections of the State Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg are displayed in the galleries of the Museum for the first time ever. Objects of superb aesthetic and artistic value, which the Czars of the Romanov dynasty collected incessantly for two centuries, initiated by Peter the Great (1672–1725), established since the late 17th century the immensely rich collections of the Hermitage, thereby turning it from 1805 onwards into one of the largest and most significant Museums in the world.
The exhibition which the Byzantine and Christian Museum designed is centered on selected archaeological artefacts, works or art, objects of minor arts and paintings that come from the main collections which comprise the State Hermitage Museum, and simultaneously introduces the museum audience to the way art and its aesthetics were perceived and construed in Europe and to life in the Russian court.

Cast: Suren Babayan, Harutyun Javazyan {Haroutik}, Kostas Kalafatis {Ekmekchyan}, Agata Vanunts, Ruben Khachatryan, Levon Ghazaryan, Susanna Ghazaryan.
The main protogonist of the film is the documentary film director, who with his small crew records various subjects. Seemingly unrelated themes are juxtaposed to construct a mosaic of Armenia in the 1990s: children-beggars, disabled children abandoned by their parents, newly born infants, refugees, homeless dogs, guilty and innocent prisoners... The tragedy of a society in transition... And hope, born out of extreme despair.
