GATEWAY TO MONTE CARLO MONACO TRAVELOGUE 52614
Dating to the 1920s, this silent travelogue film gives a brief look at Monte Carlo and the Principality of Monaco, including the St. Devote Church (1:00), Hanging Gardens (1:30), Monaco Cathedral (2:25), Oceanographic Museum (2:30), Cafe de Paris (2:45), and of course the Casino (3:00).
Monte Carlo officially refers to an administrative area of the Principality of Monaco, specifically the ward of Monte Carlo/Spélugues, where the Monte Carlo Casino is located. Informally the name also refers to a larger district, the Monte Carlo Quarter (corresponding to the former municipality of Monte Carlo), which besides Monte Carlo/Spélugues also includes the wards of La Rousse/Saint Roman, Larvotto/Bas Moulins, and Saint Michel. The permanent population of the ward of Monte Carlo is about 3,500, while that of the quarter is about 15,000. Monaco has four traditional quarters. From west to east they are: Fontvieille (the newest), Monaco-Ville (the oldest), La Condamine, and Monte Carlo.
Monte Carlo (literally Mount Charles) is situated on a prominent escarpment at the base of the Maritime Alps along the French Riviera. Near the western end of the quarter is the world-famous Place du Casino, the gambling center which has made Monte Carlo an international byword for the extravagant display and reckless dispersal of wealth.[1] It is also the location of the Hôtel de Paris, the Café de Paris, and the Salle Garnier (the casino theatre which is the home of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo).
The eastern part of the quarter includes the community of Larvotto with Monaco's only public beach, as well as its new convention center (the Grimaldi Forum), and the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. At the quarter's eastern border, one crosses into the French town of Beausoleil (sometimes referred to as Monte-Carlo-Supérieur), and just 5 miles (8 km) to its east is the western border of Italy.

Monaco Monte Carlo glimpse of charm
Monaco Monte Carlo glimpse of charm
The principality of Monaco is a tiny city-state on the Mediterranean Sea and surrounded by France. Monaco is the second smallest independent state in the world and is almost entirely urban. Monaco is known for its upscale casinos, yacht-lined harbor and prestigious Grand Prix motor race, which runs through Monaco’s streets once a year. Monte-Carlo, its major district, is home to an elegant belle-époque casino complex and ornate Salle Garnier opera house. It also has many luxe hotels, boutiques, nightclubs and restaurants.
Monte Carlo is not the capital of Monaco but a government district. The country is divided into four areas: Monaco-Ville (the old city), the Condamine (port quarter), Monte-Carlo (business and recreation), and Fontvieille (recreation and light industry). With no natural resources to exploit other than its location and climate, the principality has become a resort for tourists and a tax haven for businesses. Monaco is six times the size of the Vatican and the world's most densely populated independent country.
Monaco is accessed by its land borders from France or Italy by a network of highways, most commonly used of which is the A8 which runs west from Monte Carlo to Nice and Marseille, and east towards the Italian border. Make sure to take into account frequent traffic jams when approaching and leaving Monaco.
Walking is by far the best way to get around Monaco; however, there are some areas, such as the Exotic Gardens, that require a large change in elevation and therefore make for rather strenuous hikes. There are also seven public escalators and elevators (all free) that help negotiate the steep slopes of the city. If you find yourself afoot and wanting to reach the opposite bank of Port Hercule, look for the small pedestrian-only ferry that runs each 20 minutes or so during daylight; it costs only one Euro.
The principality of Monaco offers a great balance of historical and modern attractions. There are various museums and palaces to visit as well as shopping malls and casinos. Monaco also offers relaxation spots along the harbor and even around the attractions. It is relatively easy to navigate Monte Carlo and Monaco if you take the time to learn where the various short cuts are. City maps are generally available at most news vendor stands and shops for a small fee.

Saint-Charles Church, Monaco 2018, Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday in Saint Charles Church, Monaco, 25. March 2018.
English:
Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels.[3] It initiates Holy Week, the last week of Lent.
Croatian:

Season greetings from Princess Charlene’s adorable twins! On Christmas Eve Eve
Princess Charlene and Prince Albert unveiled their annual holiday card starring their five-year-old son and daughter, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. The young royals look festive in the snapshot that was taken by photographer Eric Mathon. Gabriella is pictured wearing a ruffled red dress and a matching headband next to brother Jacques, who wore a striped sweater, button-down shirt and blue jeans for the photo session. The red cuffs of the Hereditary Prince’s sweater complemented his sister’s holiday frock. Gabriella adorably rested her face on one of her hands as she sat beside her brother in a room that was lavishly decorated with numerous presents and a Christmas tree, which was decked with gold and red ornaments.
In addition to the new holiday photo, the palace also showed the royal family’s 2018 Christmas card that featured the twins with their doting parents. Alongside the video, the palace wrote: “TSH Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene as well as their children the Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.”
