Այսօր` հուլիսի 15-ին, Արագածոտնի մարզի Օշական գյուղի մշակույթի տանը տեղի ունեցավ Սուրբ Մեսրոպ Մաշտոցին նվիրված ասմունքի միջոցառում: Միջոցառմանը ասմունքով հանդես եկան Օշականի միջնակարգ դպրոցի և Հանրապետության մարզերի մի քանի դպրոցների երեխաներ:

Oshakan 2016
During the Arsacid Dynasty of the Kingdom of Armenia, it served as the main town of Ayrarat province and the capital of its Aragatsotn canton from which the Amatuni noble family ruled. However, Oshakan is best known for the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Cathedral which is the burial place of Saint Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. The church houses his grave and was rebuilt by Catholicos George IV in 1875. Wall paintings on the interior were done in 1960 by the artist H. Minasian. Saint Mesrop Cathedral is the seat of the Aragatsotn Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Fresco of the St. Mesrop Mashtots Church of Oshakan is being Restored
The interior of the St. Mesrop Mashtots church is covered with the “Glory to Armenian Letters and Literature” fresco painted in 1961. The fresco, which is one of the best monumental works of 20th century, needed to be restored. At the request of the Aragatsotn Diocese, Mr. Armen Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia; undertook financing of the restoration of the fresco.

Օշականի Ս. Մեսրոպ Մաշտոց եկեղեցու պատերը 1961 թվականից զարդարում է «Փառք հայ գրի և դպրության» որմնանկարը: 20-րդ դարի հայկական մոնումենտալ արվեստի լավագույն ստեղծագործություններից մեկը համարվող այս որմնանկարը վերականգնման կարիք ուներ: Արագածոտնի թեմը խնդրով դիմել է նախագահ Արմեն Սարգսյանին, որի օգնությամբ էլ սկսվել են վերականգնման աշխատանքները:

The church of St. Mesrop Mashtots is located in Oshakan village. In 443, Vahan Amatuni built a cruciform chapel in Oshakan Where is the grave of Mesrop Mashtots ( the founder of Armenian alphabet ) Later in 1875-1879 Catholicos Gevorg IV , Reconstructed a new basilica the place of the old chapel.

Armenia Fund: Renovated Schools in Melik and Oshakan

School development remains a centerpiece of the work of Armenia Fund. Every year, the fund builds, renovates, and furnishes dozens of schools and kindergartens in cities and villages across Artsakh and Armenia.
This video is about the village of Melik and the town of Oshakan, both in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Region, where Armenia Fund renovated the old, crumbling community schools into state-of-the-art campuses featuring the full complement of modern amenities.
The renovation of the school of Melik was sponsored by the Surenian family of Argentina while the renovation of Oshakan’s Mesrop Mashtots School was made possible by the City of Alfortville, France, and the French-Armenian community.
The Feast of the Holy Translators
On June 20, the feast of the Holy Translators was celebrated. The Armenian Apostolic Church has two feasts devoted to the translators. The first feast is the Feast of the Holy Translators St. Sahak and St. Mesrob and is celebrated on the Thursday after the fourth Sunday of the Feast of Pentecost. Divine Liturgy was offered in the St. Mesrop Mashtots Church of Oshakan on that occasion.
