The cathedral was consecrated in 1875, and is on the site of the first parish church in Monaco built in 1252 and dedicated to St. Nicholas. Of note are the retable (circa 1500) to the right of the transept, the Great Altar and the Episcopal throne in white Carrara marble.
Pontifical services take place on the major religious festivals such as the Feast of Sainte Dévote (27 January) and the National holiday (19 November). On feast days and during religious music concerts, one can hear the magnificent four-keyboard organ, inaugurated in 1976.
From September through June, “Les Petits Chanteurs de Monaco” and the singers of the Cathedral Choir School sing during mass every Sunday at 10:00am. Mass is also celebrated here each year on 6 December, when primary children gather for a joyful remembrance of St. Nicholas' life.

Monaco 2013
Palais Princier de Monaco
Ooit was dit schitterende paleis een simpel fort wat in 1191 werd gebouwd. Altijd is deze plaats thuis geweest voor het staatshoofd van Monaco en zijn familie. Na vele inwoners door de eeuwen heen, die gepaard zijn gegaan met hun wensen voor het onderkomen, is er van het fort niet veel meer over. Daar voor in plaats is dit schitterende paleis gekomen. Het paleis is gedeeltelijk toegankelijk voor publiek. Ook is er een museum gevestigd waar de sok en zakdoek van Napoleon te bewonderen zijn. Wat ook de moeite van een bezoekje waard is, is de wisseling van de wacht buiten het paleis. Dit gebeurt elke dag rond het middaguur en duurt enkele minuten. Je zult zien dat de wachters hier net als bij Buckingham Palace in Londen geen krimp geven als je hun aandacht probeert te trekken.
De tuinen van Monaco
Monaco telt een aantal prachtige tuinen die je kan bezoeken. Het is wel bekend dat Prinses Gracia een enorme liefhebster was van bloemen. Dit is dan vooral terug te zien in het Princess Grace Rose Garden wat vlakbij het Fontvieille Park ligt. In deze tuin die de vorm van een hart heeft, vind je maar liefst 4000 rozenstruiken met 150 verschillende soorten.
Dan is er ook nog de Jardin Exotique de Monaco in Fontvieille. Deze staat bekend om zijn soorten cactussen die groeien in een botanisch centrum met zeven serres. Verder is er ook nog een grot met archeologische vondsten en stalagmieten en stalactieten.
Aan de kust is een Japanse tuin te bewonderen die op vraag van Prins Rainier III is aangelegd. Deze 7000m2 tuin heeft een opvallend groot aanbod van bruggetjes en watervallen.
