Places to see in ( Toulouse - France ) Theatre du Capitole
The Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse is an opera house located within the main administration buildings, the Capitole, of the city of Toulouse in south-west France. It houses an opera company, ballet company and symphony orchestra, Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse.
The first performance space, a salle du jeu de spectacle, was created in the building in 1736 by Guillaume Cammas. Following a period of neglect, the current space was created during the rebuild of 1818. The theatre suffered fire damage in 1917, but was restored in 1923. The front of house areas were modernised in 1996. The current capacity is 1156 seats.
Michel Plasson was responsible for the artistic direction of the company from 1973. He was followed by Jacques Doucet in 1981, by Nicolas Joel in 1991, and by Frédéric Chambert in 2009, after Joel's move to the Opéra national de Paris. Chambert's first season was marked by the use of alternate spaces while the theatre was renovated, and the theatre was re-opened for the beginning of the 2010-11 season. The opera company is a member of the Réunion des Opéras de France.

Volée de cloches à l'église Saint-Nicolas d'Enghien
Eglise Saint-Nicolas d'Enghien (Belgique).
According to legend, the Notre-Dame du Taur, Toulouse, was built on the spot where the body of Saint Saturnin broke away from the bull that dragged behind him. The church is located in the Rue du Taur between the Capitol Square and Saint Sernin Basilica. This church is the subject of a classification as historical monuments by the 18401 list. Saint Saturnin was the first bishop of Toulouse, martyred in 250. A chapel was first installed for pilgrims on the exact place of his death, by Saint-Hilaire, third bishop of Toulouse: a brick arch surmounted by a small oratory built with ordinaire2 material. An ancient tradition says that this oratory was located at the present site of the church. However, archaeological excavations in the church sanctuary in 1969-1970 have failed to uncover any construction of early Christian period. It can not locate precisely not the first location of the grave, nor the memorial of Saint Hilaire. However it is possible that the church is located on the site where the body of Saturninus was dropped by the fateful raging bull. The saint's relics were kept until 402, when they were transferred with great ceremony at the Saint-Sernin basilica, which bears the name of Saint-Saturnin altered. Despite 150 years of the body, legend has it that the crowd appreciated the sweet smell of the remains of St. Saturnin. According Rome is one of the characteristics of a saint. The church as we know it was called until the eleventh century, Taur church, probably because it was in the area which preserved the memory of the running of the bull tied to Saint Saturnin. In the twelfth century, it was named Saint Sernin du Taur. Finally we have to wait for it to take in 1534 the present name in favor of Marie4 Virgin. The church that we see today, and whose characteristic bell wall is clearly visible from the heights of the city center, was built in the fourteenth century. The virgin is represented Notre-Dame des Remparts, moved from Villenouvelle site (current place Wilson) in 1783. The exterior of this church is very impressive. Embedded in the alignment of the houses, the facade is a large brick wall that resembles a fortress, and completely hides the rest of the building. The bell tower, bell-model for walls in the region, has campanological berries topped with arches and houses a miter carillon5 13 bells. The facade facing the street Taur date xiv - xvi centuries and is part of the Southern Gothic tradition.
Olivier Messiaen - Transports de Joie (Jean-Claude Raynaud, Saint Sernin, Toulouse)
Well, it's only a day after Sunday within the Octave of Ascension so I think I can still call this festive! Olivier Messiaen's Transports de joie d'une âme devant La Gloire du Christ, qui est la sienne [Outburst of Joy from a Soul Before the Glory of Christ Which Is Its Own Glory], the third movement of the organ version of his early work L'Ascension.
This is taken from an old 1970 LP - long out of print - called Modern French Organ Music recorded by Jean-Claude Raynaud (b.1937) with André Isoir at the Basilica of Saint Sernin in Toulouse. This recording is doubly interesting in that it gives an insight into the sound of the 1888 Cavaillé-Coll organ at Saint-Sernin before the somewhat controversial restoration of 1996-97. I do not seek to take sides in that particular debate and ask that you please refrain from stirring up further controversy. Enjoy the music! A particular thank you must go to American theatre organist Llewellyn (Lew) Williams (of the Organ Stop Pizza restaurant, Mesa, Arizona, with its four-manual, 78-rank Wurlitzer), who sent me this fantastic recording. I'm afraid I do not have any more of L'Ascension from this player: Raynaud only recorded this one track.

Short demo of the banc du sonneur in the tower of Saint-Sernin in Toulouse. The banc du sonneur is a chiming installation, which is very typical for Toulouse. The chiming represents the martyrdom of Saint-Saturnin, the first bishop of Toulouse. Normally there are six bells, four connected with pedals and two operated by the hands, but two of the ropes broke, so we hear only four bells.
Sonneur: Jean-Marc Espitalier

History of St. Sernin Basilica
The first Bishop of Toulouse was Saturninus, who in 250 AD met a violent death for refusing to worship pagan gods. Roped to a sacrificial bull by mobs gathered on the steps of the Capitoline Temple, St. Sernin was dragged down the main street of Toulouse (then known as Tolosa) to his death.
The Crypt contains tombs of number of important Saints.
There are two crypts, a higher one and a lower one. The higher crypt of gothic inspiration and is part of the original basilica (around 400 AD). You can reach the lower crypt via the lateral stairway. The crypt was dug out from the early 14th century and then widened till the middle of the 17th to create chapels to honour the saints.

FRANKFURT is a glorious german city and I cannot praise it enough. As you can see I didn’t do much filming this time nor the time before as I was just enjoying my time there. But I did a great video showing the city in sunny june and I highly recommend you watch it. I avoided the christmas market for security reasons. My deepest condolences go to the families of the victims of the horrible Berlin attack. I cannot express the sadness in my heart and cannot imagine their hurt. Germans are the best people I know and their high respect ethic, family ethic and work ethic make them one of the most developed and respectful countries in Europe.

Places to see in ( Toulouse - France ) Musee des Augustins
Places to see in ( Toulouse - France ) Musee des Augustins
The Musée des Augustins de Toulouse is a fine arts museum in Toulouse, France which conserves a collection of sculpture and paintings from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. The paintings are from throughout France, the sculptures representing Occitan culture of the region with a particularly rich assemblage of Romanesque sculpture.
The building in which the museum is sited was built in 1309 in the Gothic style and prior to the French Revolution housed Toulouse's Augustinian convent. The convent was secularized in 1793 and first opened to the public as a museum on 27 August 1795 by decree of the French Convention, very shortly after the opening of the Louvre, making it one of the oldest museums in France after the Louvre and the Musée des Beaux Arts in Besançon. It at first housed the Muséum Provisoire du Midi de la République and the école des Beaux-Arts.
The Musée des Augustins de Toulouse was one of fifteen museums founded in provincial centres, by a decree of 13 Fructidor year IX (31 August 1801), which was promulgated by the minister of the interior, Jean-Antoine Chaptal (Arrêté Chaptal du 14 fructidor an IX). At the start of the 19th century several medieval buildings (notably the refectory) were demolished and in their place Viollet-le-Duc and his pupil Darcy put up new exhibition galleries, accessed by a Gothic Revival monumental stair offering an interplay of richly complicated vaulting systems.
The progressive concern of the museum's founder Jean-Antoine Chaptal, an early example of cultural devolution, was intended to ensure that each collection presents an interesting series of paintings representing all the masters, all the genres and all the schools. In a series of shipments culminating in 1811, Toulouse was enriched with works by Guercino, Pietro Perugino, Rubens and Philippe de Champaigne.
The collections total over 4,000 works and their core derives from confiscation of Church property at the time of the French Revolution as well as seizures of the private collections of emigrés, in Toulouse notably the paintings of the cardinal de Bernis and Louis-Auguste le Tonnelier, baron de Breteuil. The museum's church even houses an organ built in 1981 by Jürgen Ahrend.
The French schools of the 15th to 18th centuries are represented by Philippe de Champaigne, Louise Moillon, Valentin de Boulogne, Sébastien Bourdon, Jacques Stella, Pierre Mignard, Jean Jouvenet, Hyacinthe Rigaud, Nicolas de Largillierre, Jean-François de Troy, Pierre Subleyras, Jean-Baptiste Oudry, Claude Joseph Vernet, Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun, Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes, Antoine-Jean Gros and Jean-Antoine Houdon
The museum's sculpture collection is in large part due to the rescue activities of antiquaries and museum curators such as Alexandre du Mège who managed to extricate sculpture from the frequent destruction of religious buildings that marked the 19th century. It is particularly strong in 12th-century Romanesque sculpture from the city's three main religious buildings - the priory of Notre-Dame de la Daurade, the basilica of Saint-Sernin and the cathedral of Saint-Étienne. It also includes many 14th and 15th century locally-produced sculptures and eight 16th century terracotta figures from the chapelle de Rieux (Notre-Dame de Grasse and works by the master of Rieux), built around 1340 in the couvent des Cordeliers, as well as gargoyles from the same convent. It also houses 19th century sculpture, with plaster works by Alexandre Falguière and his pupil Antonin Mercié, as well as works by Rodin and a bronze by Camille Claudel.
