(Part 1) St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church 100th Hram Celebration 2019 -Shell Valley, Manitoba
[See Chapter links and credits below]
This video documents a special moment in the history of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church and the Shell Valley, Manitoba community: the 100th Hram, patron Saint day, service celebrated there.
The church was founded by Romanian and Ukrainian settlers from the province of Bucovina. Their faith and religion was important to them individually and collectively as a spiritual and social support to their fulfilling but often demanding and isolated lives on the Canadian prairies. Change happened quickly from the time of their arrival in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The modernisation of farming practices and the rise of the consumer economy emptied the countryside of the members of families that had broken the land of the buffalo and territories of the first nations peoples only a generation or two before.
The St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church 100th Hram Celebration is a testament to the committed investment of current church members to keeping the faith and culture alive. The beautiful sounds of the choir, the rituals of the service and the unique material culture of the place capture a significant historical moment.
This service is a coming together of people near and far, the diaspora, to connect with the spiritual roots of our ancestors on an isolated corner of Manitoba parkland.

Syro Malabar Catholics Sydney - Passion Play 2015
On Good Friday, we commemorated the most selfless act in the history of the world: God’s own Son, guilty of no sin of His own, died for the sins of all mankind.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ Is the Eternal Son Of God, and that He died for all our sins. For us, Good Friday is the most sorrowful, the most solemn, and yet, one of the holiest days of the entire year.
This year Syro-Malabar Community celebrated Good Friday at St. Joseph's Centre, 30 Tyson Rd, Bringelly. Mar Bosco Puthur was the main celebrant. Fr. Thomas Alukka, Fr. John Parokaran and Fr. Joby Kadambattuparambil were the co-celebrants.
As in 2011, Passion Play with a dramatic presentation depicting the Passion of Jesus Christ: his trial, suffering and death, was enacted.
More than 1,500 people attended the services in spite of pouring rain.

WYD2016 Blog 9 - Saint Kinga, Polish Princess and Saint
Saint Kinga, patroness of Poland and Lithuania, was a Polish princess who is recognised as a saint in the Catholic Church.
She was born in Esztergom, Kingdom of Hungary, the daughter of King Béla IV of Hungary and Maria Laskarina. Kinga reluctantly married Boleslaw V and became princess when her husband ascended the throne as Prince of Krakow. Despite the marriage, the devout couple took up a vow of chastity. During her reign Kinga got involved in charitable works such as visiting the poor and helping the lepers. When her husband died in 1279, she sold all her material possessions and gave the money to the poor.
Saint Kinga was canonised on 16 June 1999 by Pope John Paul II. St Kinga of Poland, pray for World Youth Day pilgrims.

A Santa Monica Story
Welcome to my channel all you beautiful people!
Sharing some highlights from my trip to North America. Recently I went to North America from Sydney, Australia along with my family. My daughter is a 5 years old and my son is a one year old.
We live in the Central Coast of Sydney Australia, from where we flew to L.A California first. Since I always wanted to explore Santa Monica in LA, we decided to stay within Santa Monica for the time of our stay in L.A. It was the best decision ever. Whats more is that the kids loved it too. The vibe of this place is energetic and the views are to die for.
We started our way from Santa Monica, then to Disneyland in Anaheim, then to Yosemite that’s near San Francisco, then to Minneapolis, then to Chicago, from there to Canada and from Canada all the way to New York ..then back to L.A. only to fly all the way home to Sydney.
Sometimes, as a mother of two small kids it gets somewhat challenging to film and make sure they are ok at the same time. It is hard to not have enough freedom with using your equipment with small kids around, its hard to find that Zen moment to capture the beauty of the space as one would like to but this time I took as a challenge and managed to get some filming done, as well as make sure they kids are happy too. I believe it’s the process that counts not the outcome.
So here it is guys..hope you enjoy the Sights and Sounds from my time in Santa Monica, only to encourage you to make this trip in your life time. Go for it! It is totally Worth it.
Also, don’t forget to subscribe if you would like to watch more video.
I will be uploading the highlights from the next destination soon.
PS: let me know if you would like to know more about how it is like travelling around North America with two little kids.

A thirty minute mass was held for I-O-C President's wife, Maria Theresa Samaranch in a small Catholic church in the heart of Sydney's business district on Monday morning.
Maria Teresa Salisachs-Rowe, 67, who was suffering from cancer, died at noon Saturday in Barcelona.
Mr Samaranch attended the Olympic opening before boarding a plane Saturday morning to join his two children, including Juan Antonio junior, who had been keeping a bedside vigil in Barcelona.
Samaranch flew out of Sydney hours after opening the Games but failed to return in time to see his wife alive.
Over three hundred people crowded into St Patrick's Catholic Church in Sydney, for a memorial service for the I-O-C President's wife, Maria Theresa Samaranch.
Although the security around the Church was tight, many I-O-C officials walked from their hotel to the attend the normal weekday mass which was held at the same place where Samaranch celebrated mass two weeks ago.
Among those paying their respects, were I-O-C Vice President Richard Pound, the Governor General of Australia, Sir William Dean, SOCOG President Michael Knight and members of the public.
The I-O-C had given instructions for a simple church service.
The readings were from Romans Chapter 14 verse 7 to 12 and John Chapter 14 verses 1 to 6.
There was no singing, and organ music was played as the guests arrived and departed.
A condolence book was made available to members, athletes and media wanting to pass on their thoughts to the president.
Mr Samaranch is expected to return to Sydney before the games are over.
