High Speed Ferry From Japan to Korea
the high speed ferry that takes you from Japan's 7th largest (kyushu's largest) city; Fukuoka to South Korea's 2nd largest city: Busan. From Japan to Korea via boat in under 3 hours.
I got sea sick as the waves were really choppy and the boat went very high speed (twice the speed of regular ships) coupled with sharp turns made me want to throw up a couple of times...
(and I love to ride rollercoasters!)

The Port of Sokcho in South Korea received its first cruise call of the 2019 season as the Costa neoRomantica docked at the port on Sunday April 21, according to a statement.
The 1993-built ship is sailing an itinerary to Vladivostok in Russia and Sakaiminato in Japan on a charter voyage before heading back to Busan, South Korea.
Sokcho conducted turnaround operations for the vessel on Sunday, with 1,500 guests disembarking a new set of passengers embarking for the cruise.
There are six more calls scheduled to Sokcho this year, including an inaugural call by Silversea with the Silver Explorer in May. There are also additional visits on the books from Costa and Royal Caribbean.
Diamond Princess Spring Flowers Cruise - Busan Gujke Market April 2018
As part of my Diamond Princess Spring Flowers Cruise, our first port was the amazing and delightful Busan, South Korea. We spent some of the afternoon in Gukje Market, the International Market. You can buy many things from around the world there. It was a Sunday afternoon, which added to the activity, I believe.
Street food options are plentiful, including Hoddeok. Hoddeok is a flattened fried ball of dough, sliced and filled (while hot) with a mixture of brown sugar, peanut pieces and sunflower seeds. These were 1300 Korean Won (approximate $1.30 US$ at the time). They were so yummy that I had to go back for a second one!

It was a great trip to Sado Island.
Ferry docked and I was immediately on the road heading south east direction to Tokyo.
My experience on the Ferry is efficient and professional and most of all on time always.

Tsuruga Japan 敦賀市 - farewell to Diamond Princess - November 15, 2019
Before our Cruise Ship the Diamond Princess left the port, the city of Tsuruga 敦賀市 showed us there appreciation and hospitality by performances by various groups. I stayed on shore to capture their energy and was the last to get back onto the ship. Despite the pouring rain, they gave it there all and the cruise passengers watching from above shouted out they're heartfelt thanks to the wonderful performers & to the host city Tsuruga 敦賀市. If anyone from Japan knows how to contact the officials of Tsuruga 敦賀市 or any of these performers, please forward this video to them!
Korean cruise line marks start of home port era

A Korean cruise line has opened a new era in the industry by calling two cities home.
Its first voyages mark a transition from ports of call to home ports.
Park Se-young highlight the tremendous benefits it will bring to the local economy.
This 75-thousand-ton cruise ship is 252 meters long and as tall as a 14-story apartment building.
It has a capacity of more than 24-hundred passengers and takes guests on voyages to Vladivostok in Russia and Sakaiminato in Japan.
During the trip, which is usually five nights long, passengers can enjoy the swimming pool, casino, theater, library and other amenities.
The cruise line is the first in the country to have it own home port, and it has two -- one in Sokcho, Gangwon-do Province, and the other in Busan.
This year, the company will run 44 trips from the two ports -- almost three times as many as last year.
But the cruise line isn't the only one to benefit.
Market watchers say the economic impact of being a home port is three times that of being a port of call.
This is because the city of departure tends to provide room and board for passengers prior to the trip, as well as the manpower and supplies required for the cruise.
This will create new cruise-related businesses and new jobs, and we also expect it to help the tourism industry make a breakthrough.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to add new cruise routes that depart from Incheon, Yeosu and Jeju Island in the near future.
