Around Sakaide by car
This starts just to the west of Sakaide Stn. and goes in a huge circle around the center of town. It passes the main post office and city hall, then gets on route 33 that heads toward Utazu and Marugame. But, we turn off 33 and onto the road that leads to Hanzan, where we pass the famous Meiji Jo liquor shop with its cool, but faded James Bond mural, and a view of Ii-no yama, otherwise known as Sanuki Fuji

Sakaide, Kagawa, Japan. This street used to be just two lanes. It took the city a lot of years to buy all the property in the lane that I am driving in. This is heading south toward Ii No Yama, also called Sanuki Fuji. We turn left and pass Sakaide Shogyo High School's tennis courts. Then, there is the Maruyoshi Center supermarket on the right.

Kurashiki, Japan - Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter (2019)
Kurashiki (倉敷市 Kurashiki-shi) is a historic city located in western Okayama Prefecture, Japan, sitting on the Takahashi River, on the coast of the Inland Sea.
As of March 31, 2017, the city has an estimated population of 483,576 and a population density of 1,400 persons per km². The total area is 355.63 km².
The modern city of Kurashiki was founded on April 1, 1928. Previously, it was the site of clashes between the Taira and Minamoto clans during the Heian period. It gradually developed as a river port. During the Edo period, it became an area directly controlled by the shogunate. Distinctive white-walled, black-tiled warehouses were built to store goods. During the Meiji Restoration (Japan's Industrial Revolution period), factories were built, including the Ohara Spinning Mill, which still stands as the nostalgic tourist attraction Ivy Square.
On August 1, 2005, the town of Mabi (from Kibi District), and the town of Funao (from Asakuchi District) were merged with Kurashiki.
Kurashiki is the home of Japan's first museum for Western art, the Ohara Museum of Art. Established in 1930 by Magosaburō Ōhara, it contains paintings by El Greco, Monet, Matisse, Gauguin, and Renoir. The collection also presents fine examples of Asian and contemporary art. The main building is designed in the style of Neoclassicism.
The old merchant quarter is called the Bikan historical area. It contains many fine examples of 17th century wooden warehouses (kura, 倉) painted white with traditional black tiles, along a canal framed with weeping willows and filled with koi. The area has no electric poles in order to make it more closely resemble the look of the Meiji period. One of the city's former town halls was located in the Kurashiki Kan, a European style building constructed in 1917.
In 1997 a theme park called Tivoli (after the park of the same name in Copenhagen) opened near Kurashiki Station. After ten years of operation it was closed in 2008, with a massive debt.
The Great Seto Bridge connects the city to Sakaide in Kagawa Prefecture across the Inland Sea.
Kenzo Tange, winner of the 1987 Pritzker Prize for architecture, designed the former Kurashiki City Hall in 1960.

Great Seto Bridge is one of the longest bridge in Japan across Seto Inland Sea.

Japan Rail Trip #12: Okayama city centre walk 岡山市街を散策

We left Kochi for Osaka, but would be stopping at Okayama for a look around on the way.
Again the train journey back to Okayama was spectacular with the highlight being the crossing of Seto bridge.
We decided to walk in Okayama city. Unfortunately there was not enough time to look at Okayama castle, Korakuen Japanese Garden etc,so we decided to walk around the Shotengai, the local shopping street.
Okayama is a bit of a quirky city with interesting bits that stand out like the police office at the side of a canal and some of the street clocks.
We entered local small canteen style of restaurant and had udon noodle and curry rice. Reasonable price and homemade taste and the restaurant had a nice authentic retro style to it.
Along the walk Nigel's shoes decided to die with the sole detaching, so we both decided it was time to upgrade / replace our shoes.
Because we gave our shoes to the shop for recycling we were awarded a 5% discount. We also attempted to get the shoes for duty free but made the mistake of wearing the shoes prior to claiming the duty free discount, which made duty free null.
The correct procedure would have been to take the shoes in their box to the duty free first and then changed the shoes at the shop and handed the old shoes over for the 5% discount.
We also noted that the Okayama's restaurants and bars looked very affordable and good value.
After that it was time to move to Osaka.
ナイジとジュンは大阪行きの新幹線の時間までの少しの待ち時間を潰すために、岡山市内で昼食を食べることに決めました。残念ながら岡山で有名な岡山城や後楽園は、時間がなくて行けませんでした。
商店街が駅前にあったのでそこを通り、昔風の食堂があったので入りました。安価な価格で食堂風の味でした。
その後、大阪へと向かいます。

目線カメラが見た山頂展望台の異様な光景！香川県観光バイクツーリング『走行中！第7回』（坂出市～聖通寺山）
バイクに乗って香川県坂出市（四国）にあるハローズ坂出林田店から、さぬき浜街道を西に向かって走る観光ツーリング動画、ライダー目線の臨場感のあるウェアラブルカメラ映像をお届けします。
途中、ショッピングモールを経由、そして瀬戸大橋の近くにある聖通寺山を登り、山頂にある観光地、常盤公園、恋人の聖地「サン・アンジェリーナ」の展望台から瀬戸大橋を上から眺めてみました。
天気予報は弱雨でしたが、家を出たとたん土砂降りの雨に遭い、一旦止みましたが、衣服がビショビショになったまま撮影しています。コンディションは最悪です。
