Bakumatsu means the end. In this case the end of the 300 year Tokugawa Shogunate. Ryoma Sakamoto, often seen as the architect of a classless Japan, was actually hated by members of the Shogunate as well as the rebels.

08/22/2012 Ryozen Museum of History / Bakumatsu Ishin Museum 幕末維新ミュージアム specializes in the history of the Bakumatsu period and the Meiji Restoration. We also went to visit the graves of Ryoma Sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka in order to thank them for their sacrifices.
