Part II - I had an amazing run among the sakura (cherry blossom) trees at Nakameguro, Tokyo. The Japanese call looking at the sakura 花見 or 'hanami'. Since I like running, I decided to combine both and make it into a 'Runami'. hehe.

The cherry blossom (sakura) has been celebrated in Japan for many centuries and holds a very particular place in Japanese culture. Although there are many varieties of cherry tree in Japan, most bloom for just a couple of days in spring. The Japanese celebrate this time of the year with Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties: friends, family or work colleagues gather and sit on plastic mats under the blossoming trees, to drink, sing, chat or just admire the spectacle.

アキーラさんドライブ②中国道・兵庫県・西宮市付近・Nishinomiya-city,Chugoku-highway,Hyogo,Japan

2013年（平成25年）10月11日～14日に山陰地方（島根・鳥取県）を旅行した。60年に１回おこなわれるという遷宮年である出雲大社への参拝が最大の目的であるが、他にも多くの場所を訪問した。

Handayama - Cherry Blossom Secret ✿ Okayama City - 岡山市半田山植物園 - Japan As It Truly Is

Like cherry blossoms? Tired of the tourist hordes reading the same guides and rushing to the same places? GO HERE!

The Handayama Botanical Garden in Okayama City is a marvelous place to see the sakura without the crowds. It was opened in May, 1964 and covers 11 hectares with over 150,000 trees and 3200 varieties of plants.

The park is open 9 AM - 4:30 PM (last entry 4 PM). Closed Tuesdays or if a holiday, the following Wednesday. Also closed Dec 29-Jan 3. Entrance fee is ¥308.

Japanese Cherry Blossom Formal Gardens

Japanese Cherry Blossom Gardens, Kyoto, Japan. These gardens are located at the 'Heian Shrine' in Kyoto.

The video shows formally cultivated Japanese gardens during Cherry blossom season (April) in Kyoto, Japan.

The Japanese Hanami (花見) is the popular practice of picnicking under a blooming sakura or ume tree. It is very popular in Japan during Cherry Blossom Season March-April.


The Japanese Cherry Blossom, Prunus serrulata, is sometimes called sakura after the Japanese (桜 or 櫻; さくら).

The Japan Cherry Blossom Association has made a list of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots for Hanami.

There are some very popular Cherry blossom Hanami areas in - Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. Some famous Cherry Blossom 花見 festivals in Japan include:
- Yaedake Cherry Blossom Festival in Okinawa.
- Matsuyama Shiroyama Koen Cherry Blossom Festival in Matsuyama-city, Ehime.
- Matsue Jozan Koen Festival in Matsue-city, Shimane (includes illuminated cherry blossom trees at night).
- Tsuyama Kakuzan Koen Cherry Blossom Festival in Tsuyama-city, Okayama.
- Takato Joshi Koen Cherry Blossom Festival in Takato-machi Ina-city, Nagano prefecture. The trees in this region have pink blossoms.
- Takada Koen Cherry Blossom Festival in Joetsu-city, Niigata prefecture.
- Kitakami Tenshochi Cherry Blossom Festival in Kitakami-city, Iwate.
- Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival held in Hirosaki Koen Hirosaki-city, Aomori prefecture.
