Salakot Waterfalls Palawan, Philippines
This was our first trip over bumpy muddy roads to Salakot Waterfalls. It was still rainy season, but a warm day in spite of the occasional drizzle. It was well worth the trip. The waterfalls are lovely. The water was too icy cold for me but didn't seem to bother everyone else. Even though it was muddy, everyone enjoyed the dip. We went back in April, 2012 and the waters were greenish and it was even lovelier as we were able to climb the rock wall to discover yet another lovely spot.

Salakot Waterfalls, Puerto Princesa, Palawan Philippines April 2012
Took a trip to Salakot Falls in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. Off the beaten track. Beautiful area and clean river water. Totally unpopulated. Off the road to Napsan, very rugged road for the most part, with some graded. Mostly dirt road. It's only about 45 minutes from our house.

Salakot waterfalls - Off the beaten track
It's one of my favorite waterfalls, the road going there is much better these days, and from my home in Luziminda, it only takes around 40 minutes now. From city center, it might take up to 2 hours. The locals don't have any funding to keep this place clean, and unfortunately, road repair crews lately have been stashing their heavy equipment and supplies just outside the gate, making it very easy to miss.
There are no services whatsoever. The ride there takes you through pristine forests. Sometimes you will see troops of wild monkeys and a monitor lizard here and there. The water in the pool at the falls is always cold and clean. Even during rainy season, the water may be muddied, but we have swam in it and had no side effects.
Please bring trash bags to bring your own trash out, and help the environment by picking up any you see there. That's what we do.

Philippines – Olangoan (Binduyan) waterfalls in Palawan
If you like to get away from Puerto Princesa city for a day, you can experience inexpensive local transport to go for a swim, pic-nic and relax in nature at the Olangoan (Olanguan) falls, community-based project located in barangay Binduyan. Take a multicab to the New Market terminal (15min from Old Market) ) and from there a shuttle van (150P/pers) or bus (90P/pers) that takes the North National Highway towards Taytay. The bus will drop you right at the Binduyan waterfalls welcome booth (just before arriving in Binduyan town). You will be assigned a guide (400P/group) and after paying a small entrance fee of 50P/pers, you will hike (~40min) across and along the river. The path was recently maintained with new bridges and steps when going up the hill or across boulders. The hike is very easy and mostly flat. Several pools are inviting you with the best ones at and above the waterfalls! Facilities include solid tables to have lunch and well maintained bathrooms. No trash around, what a great pleasure! If you like noisy crowds of locals, visit on WE and public holidays .. otherwise come during the week! After the easy walk back, wait a few minutes back on the highway to hop on the next bus/shuttle back to PP. Filmed in June 2018.

Langogan, Palawan, Philippines
What better way to get off the beaten path than to go even more off the beaten path to the hidden waterfalls in Palawan?
We were in Langogan on the island of Palawan in the Philippines and the owner of our accommodations, our host, had suggested a day trip to the waterfalls.
Unless you know how to get there, it is difficult to find and even more difficult to reach...which meant that we had to say yes!
Our guide was a young, entrepreneur from France who had come to Langogan to help take care of the eco resort where we were staying while he learned how to cultivate mushrooms.
We took a short journey to an unmarked trailhead and a one-hour hike into the jungle. Most of the hike took us alongside a river. Part of the trail was obvious, other parts were guesswork. We scrambled over boulders, cut through bamboo forests, waded in shallow pools, and had to push our way waist-deep against a strong current.
We finally arrived at our destination. Olanguan Falls.
The waterfall has a giant pool. There is great place to jump from the side of the falls into the deep pool. There is also a twenty-foot rock to jump off of (if you are brave enough to climb).
If you want to relax, the shallow end of the pool has barely a foot of water and is a great place to stay cool while being treated to an all-natural spa fish treatment.
The best part was that we were the only people at the Olanguan Falls. There is something to be said about getting off the beaten path.

NEW SURFING DESTINATION TAGKAWAYAN BEACH + SALAKOT WATER FALLS
Tagkawayan beach is located at Puerto Princesa City. More or less one and half hour drive from poblacion to Tagkawayan beach. A nice view and best for surfing activity in the area. Puerto Princesa has also one beautiful falls called The Salakot Water Falls. It is also one hour drive from city proper. We enjoy with my tropang First Three, and for our relaxition for the weekends. #lakwatserongteacher.
