Sankar Pagodas 2015
The Famous floating Pagodas of Sankar, which sadly due to the droughts that Myanmar recieve are now not floating.
During my trip to Myanmar in 2015, I am very glad I spent the few extra dollars and visited the Sankar Pagodas, Our boatman was such a kind man even inviting us to his stilted wooden house on the lake to meet his children.
Sankar trip
A boat trip to Sankar.
A boat trip to Sankar Lake means travelling at least 50 kilometres south through the Balu Chaung creek. You are now going into Pa-O (Black Karen) territory; the Pa-O tribal people are easily recognisable at their head dress which looks like a towel wound around the head. Pa-O women usually wear the head dress, they also frequent the five-day market in Nyaung Shwe. Sankar Lake is a much smaller lake than Inle, and is completely filled with water-hyacinth plants. There is only one temple, the Thar Khaung (Thakaung/Thakong) pagoda. Samka is a peaceful and quiet little village with a few overgrown ruins which you are free to walk around as long as you like as the rains have been light in the last few years and they no longer appear sunken!

Traveling to Hakha, Chin State in rainy season
Hakha is the biggest city and capitol of Chin State, which is situated in northwest part of Myanmar. Traveling in Chin State is generally difficult and tiring especially in rainy season where the roads are muddy, and there are a lot of land slides and road blocks, etc. However, it also provides sense of adventure for those who have heart of steel :)
This video is the compilation of video footage I took during my travel in rainy season of 2016-2017. I was thrilled by those road trips and I made this to share my feelings to any person who watch this video.
Please feel free to ask any question if you want to know more about this trip.
Thank you so much for watching.

David Whitehill | Irrawaddy River Cruising: Yangon
Join David Whitehill as he explores Myanmar with Scenic. View the Mystical Irrawaddy river cruise and tour here:
For us travellers, the world has wonderfully become more and more accessible, but there are still a few gems like Myanmar that have been hidden for decades. So right now is the most exciting time to come here as the country gets opened up to the entire world.
Myanmar is a country just waiting to be rediscovered and Scenic have landed us in the buzzing city of Yangon to kick off a 14 day adventure.
Its influences have come from far and wide and still stands as a really special aspect of the city. A great way to get a taste for daily life and one of your many Scenic Freechoice options is to jump on board the local train and experience the real Myanmar at its very best.
Yangon’s art culture is also one of the more interesting sides to the city as local people bring their culture and stories to life. It’s a scene the people here are really proud of.
If there is one thing that is going to stop you in your tracks whilst you’re in Myanmar it’s the Shwedagon Pagoda. They don’t exactly know how it was originally built, but as the Buddhist legend goes, it was only 7m tall and then the kings throughout the centuries have added to it making it this amazing monument you see today.
Built with more gold than what’s in the Bank of England, this sacred site is said to house the relics of four buddhas. As one of your Scenic Enrich experiences, you can take part in a very spiritual oil lighting ceremony and pay your respects to this amazing temple and make the wish of your life.
And to top things off, tonight we are dining at the exclusive Le Planteur Restaurant. Famous for their amazing wine cellar with a touch of French elegance.
