BEST PLACES IN SALEM | The Witch House, Hocus Pocus Locations, Etc.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful. Cheers to fall, Salem, and Halloween!
A few things I forgot to mention:
If you're a photographer looking for a beautiful street with gorgeous old homes, Salem has plenty, but Chestnut Street is stunning and definitely worth a walk down. Close to Essex street and the Ropes Mansion.
I went on the candlelit ghost tour at night and definitely would recommend it - tickets can be purchased near the Burying Point Cemetery. You'll see signs.
Turner's Seafood and Bambolina Restaurant (pizza) were the only places we stopped at for food and both were amazing.

For most of us, Salem ,Massachusetts is all about witches and witch hunts, and Halloween. That's what Salem, MA is all about: witches and witches. But Salem, MA, has much more to see and do. In Salem, MA, there is the famous Salem Inn, one of Salem, Massachusetts' most elegant inns. The Salem Inn in Salem, MA, is a classic inn, historic and welcoming.
The sea port city of Salem, MA, is rich with history and handsome historic building like this Federal masterpiece home of the Salem Inn
The Salem Inn in the heart of Salem, MA, is actually three historic homes going back to the early 1800's but restored with care and style
True the 40 guest rooms don't have elevators and bellboys but they have class and quality service and even some sweet finches to welcome guests, a big family favorite

Salem, the witch town of Massachusetts
Salem is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States.
The so-called City of Witches (Witch City) because of the trials that took place in the year 1692, is located on the US Atlantic coast, 25 km north of Boston.
The city owes its growth to its strategic port, which acquired important influence during the peak of commercial traffic with Africa, India, Russia, Sumatra and China; in the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth. Recently, and taking into account its history, as its rich architecture of the aforementioned period- (recognized aspects both locally and internationally), it was granted the status of National Historical Heritage. There are more than 60 restaurants, coffee shops and coffee shops in the center of the city.
Salem receives more than one million visitors a year, who come from all over the world. This city concentrates a great part of the historical places of the state of Massachusetts, in addition to museums, cultural activities, fine restaurants and select businesses.
The Samuel McIntyre Historic District consists of four hundred and seven buildings. It is the largest agglutination of buildings in colonial America in the United States. Inside it is McIntyre's own house. Samuel McIntyre, or McIntire, (January 16, 1757 February 6, 1811) was an American architect and craftsman. It is a prime example of federal style architecture. He developed most of his work in his hometown, Salem, Massachusetts.
Known as The people of witches, Salem is a city located in the state of Massachusetts that is currently visited by thousands of tourists intrigued by terrifying stories that are woven on that place.
The event that gave rise to the fame of witch people to Salem occurred in 1962, when the settlers began a witch hunt that ended with the imprisonment of more than 150 men and women.
This hunt began in January of that year, after the daughter of the Reverend Samuel Parris fell ill. The diagnosis of the doctor was that they had bewitched her.
That provoked a mass hysteria in Salem that caused 13 women and 6 men to be condemned to the gallows, accused of practicing witchcraft and performing satanic rites.
At present, there is a museum dedicated to explain this event, and a tour that takes tourists to visit the sites related to the witch hunt.

[HD] Halloween at Salem Massachusettes, Oct 2013
Halloween 2013
I have always wanted to visit Salem, Massachusetts. It has a rich history for USA and also for persecution. Religious persecution was the very reason Salem was set up (I've included some background information on Salem below). The original settlers of Salem left England to escape religious persecution. The tenants of their faith did not match the mainstream of England. They wanted to be far apart from Catholicism. They endured many hardships and loss to sail from England to the American colonies in search of religious freedom. In the end, instead of enjoying freedom of religious practice in the new found land in America, they started persecuting their own who were different.
I've always been fascinated by Salem because of it's legacy for witches. Witches are not the evil hags we see in movies but they practice a proper religion that balance nature, the earth, energies, planets and needs with their prayers. Witches, magic and it's true meaning has been distorted by mainstream fear and ignorance. I came across some psychics and practicing witches while in Salem and they are intelligent, open and warm people. Of course there are 'evil' witches but there are 'negative' people everywhere in all faiths. Religion doesn't necessarily makes us better unless we internalize compassion, wisdom, tolerance and transformation.
There are many museums, boutiques, magic shops, gift shops and places of interest related to it's rich witch history. Believe me they were very interesting. The witch persecution reminds everyone that we cannot persecute anyone on the basis of their religion, race, culture, economic background and beliefs and that is wrong. Freedom is what everyone cherishes. We visited most of the places of interest, but you have to be here during October. During Halloween Salem just takes off. There are many activities and tourists from all over the world just flock to Salem. So many international and interesting people and animals. So many doggies in Halloween costumes too. After Halloween then Salem is quite sedate. You really have to make it here during the whole month of October and then you will see many events. Educational, fun and interesting but it will open your eyes to new ideas. I enjoyed it and learned also.
We went to the museums, plays, presentations and even a authentic witch casting a spell for good luck. We did not participate in the spell casting but simply observed to learn. There was a witches' gathering in town centre but it was rained out last minute. There are a few famous witches and psychics in Salem that are known nationally and are on media and news. There were more psychic shops at every other corner and street than 7-11 stores! The Salem police insignia is a witch riding on a broom. Interesting.
We arrived a few days before Halloween and the town was busy and on Halloween itself. On Halloween, I wore my monk robes and walked around Salem among the throngs of people. There were so many people from many countries but it was not an uncomfortable crowded scene. People were warm, friendly and very open. All the street with magic shops, shows, bookstores, psychic readers (there are many psychic shops and psychics), psychic fairs, gifts, foods, stalls were colourful and lined with people from all walks of life. Every window and many houses had very interesting Halloween decorations. I enjoyed seeing the decorations very much. There are huge stores dedicated to just Halloween costumes too! Almost everyone was in unique Halloween costume. I just stood and breathed in the autumn crisp air taking in the sights, sounds, smells and rich history. I also purchased some vintage very old books to gift people with these items. Some people would appreciate these vintage classic books from Salem. I have not celebrated Halloween since leaving New Jersey when I was 15!! Halloween is my favourite holiday. It always has been. I was glad to be in Salem.
Well I had very interesting reactions from various persons on the crowded streets. I had some people who folded their hands when I walked by. One lady said Tashi Delek to me which is Tibetan for greetings. Another group were guessing out loud and we can hear them talking among themselves asking if I am wearing a costume or a real monk? One guy passed me and said to me awesome costume! I replied thank you! I saw people taking pictures of me thinking I didn't see them doing so but I did. It was fun and that is what I expected. People to wonder if what I am wearing was me or a costume!
Seng Piow and Andrew who are with me were a great help and we went everywhere together. It was great experience for them as they have never been to this part of the world and during Halloween. Andrew lugged all of our bags and Seng Piow videoed everything for my blog. These two are a great help for me. I appreciated it very much.

Pre Halloween night 2010 walk of Salem Massachusetts Music by Britannica
Halloween 2010 is coming Sunday night to Salem, Massachusetts. The party goes on the entire month of October here. This is a walk around the city only 6 days before on a Monday night. There was a light fog adding to the atmosphere. The music is an original song by the Salem based band Britannica with the full band and acoustic duo. Those videos are also available on my profile page. Tonight's walk starts where my last Halloween video starts, New Derby St at Artists Row. It then goes to Essex St, Hawthorne Blvd, then up and back on Derby St including some of Pickering Wharf, ending with many of the great restaurants of Washington St.
SALEM, Massachusetts Tour - BEST things to see + Do - 4k Drone Video
Founded in 1626, Salem is one of the most significant seaports in pre-revolutionary America. Made famous by Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible', this town of 41,340 people transforms into a history- and literature- buff's paradise each October. We made it here during the thick of tourists exploring the Halloween and witched-themed shops and museums. There's truly no place like this on earth in this season.
Even aside from all the spooky stuff, there's so much to see and do throughout the town, like the House of Seven Gables Museum, Salem State University, Pioneer Village, the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, Salem Willows Park, and the Peabody Essex Museum. There are many POW memorials throughout the city, as Salem is considered the official birthplace of the U.S. National Guard. This town is definitely worth a visit; so make sure it's on your list!
