The Magna Carta Has Returned To Salisbury Cathedral
Now back in October, a man entered Salisbury Cathedral with a hammer and attempted to steal the magna carta. Luckily the document was not taken, but there was significant damage to the glass case and it needed to be sent off to be repaired and changed. The Magna Carta has now returned to it's previous spot in the Cathedral with a new high tech security case.

UK: Magna Carta returns to display at Salisbury Cathedral after theft attempt

One of the four original copies of the 1215 Magna Carta has been put back on display at Salisbury Cathedral on Monday, after an attempted theft last year.
Salisbury Cathedral invited media to preview the Magna Carta's new case, since the document has been removed from display for three months after the attack. Footage shows the holes created by multiple hammer blows to the old glass case.
The Salisbury Cathedral archivist, Emily Naish explained that somebody attacked the display case with a hammer. So, obviously, we couldn’t have the document on display, unless we had a secure case to put it in.
The glass in the case did exactly what we would have expected it to do. It didn’t shatter, the document itself was within a second case within the damaged case, and that was completely undamaged, she added.

Salisbury Cathedral And The Magna Carta Allcingeye
A visit to see salisbury cathedral and the Magna Carta The parts the public don't see very often. Now to Rebuild the UK after Brexit. Thank you to all the great positive responses from people who love freedom all over the world. Salisbury Cathedral’s Magna Carta is the best preserved of only four surviving original exemplars, the other three 1215 Magna Cartas are held at The British Library and Lincoln Castle. It is displayed in our magnificent 13th century Chapter House at the heart of a permanent display.
Salisbury Cathedral the single most beautiful structure in England
Salisbury Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England, and one of the leading examples of Early English architecture. The main body of the cathedral was completed in only 38 years, from 1220 to 1258.
The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404 ft). Visitors can take the Tower Tour where the interior of the hollow spire, with its ancient wood scaffolding, can be viewed. The cathedral also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain (80 acres (320,000 m2)). It contains the world's oldest working clock (from AD 1386) and has the best surviving of the four original copies of Magna Carta (all four original copies are in England). In 2008, the cathedral celebrated the 750th anniversary of its consecration.
The cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Salisbury and seat of the Bishop of Salisbury.

Salisbury Cathedral, Origami Doves, and the Magna Carta
Come along as we tour Salisbury Cathedral in Wiltshire England. see Les Colombes (an origami art installation), the Magna Carta and more!
Note: Les Colombes ends July 22, 2018!
Salisbury Cathedral - What to See?
Of course, since Russell (my husband) has an origami blog ( we had to go see Les Colombes. It's over 2,000 origami doves hanging in the Salisbury Cathedral Nave and it is breathtaking! It is part of Salisbury City of Doves. You will find lots of origami in Salisbury - everywhere right now!
Even without the origami art, Salisbury Cathedral is still worth a visit. The Salisbury Cathedral Magna Carta is the best preserved original copy left! You will find the Magna Carta in the Salisbury Cathedral Chapter House. The Salisbury Cathedral spire is the tallest in England. We were also lucky to be treated to a performance by the Salisbury Cathedral Choir.
We explored the church on our own, but if you like, you can take a Salisbury Cathedral guided tour!

Salisbury, England
We took a trip to Salisbury, England to see a famous cathedral where one of the only 3 copies of the Magna Carta is kept. When we were there, the cathedral was under renovations on the outside, but still allowed visitors inside. It was an absolutely beautiful cathedral and well worth the trip to Salisbury! Unfortunately they didn't allow video inside the room where the Magna Carta is held.

Salisbury Cathedral Wiltshire | Walk through tour | 4k
I've been to a few cathedrals in England and Salisbury Cathedral is right up there with the best of them.
It's free to walk about the grounds and the ground level of the Cathedral but I would definitely recommend the guided tower tour. It's good value for money, lasts around 90 minutes and the tour guides are very knowledgeable (everything after the 09:45 minute mark in the video is part of the tower tour). The groups are restricted to 12 people at a time, so you don't have to worry about them being too busy. The climb to the top is broken up into stages and is not too strenuous.
The Cathedral is only a short walk from Salisbury train station and the surrounding city is very nice too.
Thanks for watching :)
