The Salpa Line - bunker line on the eastern border of Finland against a possible Soviet invasion. It never saw military action.
Salpa Line Finland
Part of the Battletours in 2001. The Salpa Line was the last line of Finnish defense. It was never attacked as the war ended before an attack was launched - As such the Salpa Line is still intact and gives one an idea of the Finnish defensive lines as they would have looked in 1944. Note - Salpa Line is more fortified than some of the smaller lines so in some regards is a grander scale than was normally seen.

Four days in Salpapolku Part 2/2
I decided to go and visit Salpalinja, the mighties of the Europen defence lines ever or at least almost. Salpapolku is a marked trail that follows Salpalinja and there is a lot to see if you are interested in military history and especially fortifications. The length of the trail is 55 km and along this path, there is trenches, bunkers, fortifier positions, dug-outs. There's also nice camping sites. There's also two museums along the path but they are only open at summer time.
Video contains some historical information of which most of it is almost accurate. Bad english too, YAY!

The Salpa Line , or its official name, Suomen Salpa , is a bunker line on the eastern border of Finland. It was built during the Interim Peace between the Winter War and the Continuation War to defend Finland against a possible Soviet invasion. The line is 1,200 km long, stretching from the Gulf of Finland to Petsamo in northern Finland .It never saw military action because the Soviet offensive in 1944 was stopped at the VKT-line on the Karelian Isthmus.

The Tank Museum is a military historical museum with the main task to gather, save, investigate and exhibit the history of the Finnish armoured and anti-tank defence troops.A central theme, furthermore, is to inform about the use and technical development of the armoured fighting vehicles in the Army of independent Finland, beginning from the first Renault F.T. Modèle 1917 tanks, bought in 1919. The Tank Museum is also paying honours to the Finnish soldier. It offers a historical display of the skills and success of the Finnish armoured troops - especially of the wartime tank division - against a superior enemy in the battles of our last wars.

Follow the historical Salpa Trail!
Itsenäisen Suomen eräs merkittävimmistä voimanponnistuksista on Salpalinja, itärajan puolustukseksi rakennettu linnoitusketju.

One of the most significant efforts of independent Finland is the Salpa Line, a defence line built to defend the Russian border. The Salpa Line was built in 1940–1941 and 1944, stretching incredible 1,200 kilometres. The construction is the most extensive piece of construction work of independent Finland. The Salpa Line is also one of the strongest and best preserved defence line from the Second World War still in existence in Europe. It offers a chance to touch upon history in an authentic and tangible way.
The area also provides good opportunities for outdoor activities and relaxation in the beautiful nature of Southeastern Finland. The 43-kilometre Salpa Trek along the Salpa Line takes you through the areas of interest of the Salpa Line as well as the magnificent nature and cultural environment of Southeastern Finland. The route runs from Harju Manor past forests, hills and fields through Miehikkälä all the way to Ylämaa in Lappeenranta. During the trek, you can explore the restored parts of the Salpa Line.
Inside a T34 tank and walking around it
Turn on CC, for the translation of what I'm saying.
Tank is located at the More museum.
The interior has been stripped to almost nothing, it's rusted to shit, and overall is pretty uncomfortable.
Excuse my classmates screaming in the background and the wind noise in the second clip.
