SCUBA Diving in Salt Cay, Turks and Caicos
Salt Cay is one of the eight islands of Turks and Caicos archipelago, located at the southern tip of the Bahamas. Most people see these islands as being located in the Caribbean Sea they are actually part of the Atlantic Ocean. Salt Cay is a tiny, flat, triangular island measuring about 7 square kilometers. It was once home to several hundred people, all supported by the salt industry. Its current population is estimated at less than 100.
Diving is just a 5-minute boat ride offshore to the 7,000 foot vertical wall.

Best Snorkeling in Salt Cay (Turks and Caicos)
Enjoy the best snorkeling experience off the shore of Salt Cay on the pristine North Bay Beach. There is no dedicated public access to this quiet and lonely place. Yet you can get there by taking a scenic walk along the west coast of the island. Grand Turk and cruise ships can be seen on the horizon from this coast. The beautiful coral reefs are vibrant, snorkeling quality is perfect. Simply look for the dark patches on the sea surface and explore beautiful reefs. We’ve seen: Acanthurus coeruleus, Southern stingray, Rainbow parrotfish, Bluehead wrasse, Foureye butterflyfish, Queen angelfish, Slippery dick Fish, Haemulon flavolineatum, Blue striped grunt, Smooth trunkfish, Spotted trunkfish, Balistes vetula, Schoolmaster snapper, Scrawled cowfish, Honeycomb cowfish, Spotfin butterflyfish, etc.
Salt Cay is the smallest of the main islands in the Turks and Caicos - archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean, a British Overseas Territory southeast of the Bahamas.

Episode 12 - Welcome to Salt Cay
Salt Cay is a little known destination in the Turks and Caicos. It is located just south of Grand Turk, close to the Silver Bank Marine Sanctuary off the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. It also sits on the edge of the 7000 foot Columbus Passage so the diving is grand. This episode, prepared by David Cuoio, provides an excellent introduction to the island and the diving there.

World Hope Responds to Hurricanes in Salt Cay
In 2017, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria dealt a devastating blow to people in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and across the Caribbean. When a disaster strikes, we’re left to consider how we might bring HOPE.
That’s why when World Hope International got the word that Turks and Caicos island in the Caribbean was completely without a clean water source due to Hurricane Irma, we responded. On Salt Cay, a small island off the coast of Turks and Caicos, we set up a desalination point to convert sea water to clean water—the only drinking water on the island.
Thanks to your prayers and ongoing financial gifts to hurricane victims, people had water and emergency supplies. We could save lives, reduce suffering, and bring hope—together.
In the face of tragedy, partner with us to respond to urgent need. Give now: WorldHope.org
