In 2014, we heard about the idea of full-time RVing, and while the idea was appealing, we just didn’t think it was for us. We watched several friends and acquaintances take the plunge into this lifestyle, but it was always a “someday” dream for us. That all changed in February 2018. We decided to stop putting off our dreams, and with that we put our house on the market. Within one week we were under contract. We closed on the sale of our house in mid-April 2018, and bought a used 2006 Class C Winnebago Outlook the very next day.
We started out with the idea that we’d do this for at least 6 months, but at this point we don’t see any end in sight. We love the amazing opportunities this lifestyle has already afforded us. We’ve spent more time with our kids and had more adventures in a matter of weeks than we have experienced in years of living a more traditional life.
We’re a homeschooling/roadschooling family of 5. We use the Robinson Curriculum, and have been doing so since our youngest was 6. This curriculum is self-led and self-taught, which fits in perfectly with our lifestyle. J.R. is a Realtor and we currently are staying nearby in Central Florida while he transitions to a new career. Kayla is a mom/wife/artist. She also has a Youtube channel and website called Six Miles To Supper, where she talks about how she’s lost over 70 pounds through Intermittent Fasting and walking six miles every day. J.R. and Kayla also have a Youtube channel called Coffee Coffee Coffee, where they do average Joe coffee reviews. Kayla and J.R. both identify as scanners which means they have lots of different interests, and pursue a wide variety of projects and career paths. Barbara Sher wrote an excellent book called Refuse To Choose that describes us to a T. As such, you’ll probably find a smattering of a little bit of everything on this channel. Campground reviews, stuff we’ve learned about RV repair, and just cool stuff we’ve seen and experienced.

Camping at Salt Springs Recreation Area - Ocala National Forest
For Bear's 40th Birthday we took a trip to Salt Springs Recreation Area. Salt Springs Recreation Area is located in the heart of Salt Springs, Florida. The recreation area is open year-round. In addition to camping, hiking, swimming & various recreational water activities, the main attraction is the ancient subterranean springs which flow year-round at a constant temperature of 72 degrees, and pump approximately 53 million gallons of crystal clear water per day.

In our video we talked about the big storm that hit. Our coach was saved by our Progressive Industries EMS when lightning struck the pole in front of us! This is a MUST HAVE for RV'ing!

Salt Springs Recreation Area Campground Tour - Ocala National Forest
Join us for a bike ride around the Salt Springs Recreation Area Campground in the Ocala National Forest. The tour will also cover the washing station and the ladies restroom. We stayed at Salt Springs for 4 days in Site 3. It was a nice big site with lots of shade but it was very close to the road so there was a lot of noise pollution. Stay tuned for another video detailing our visit!

Salt Springs Recreation Area Florida - Swimming in Springs and Caves
This little known secret is approx. 45 minutes from Ocala Florida. A beautiful park where you can swim and enjoy a picnic under the large oak trees. The water is clear and cool. A constant 72 degrees. As you can see in the video, swimming against the flow of the spring can be difficult. Millions of gallons an hour exit these cave like formations.
It is usually not very busy. Just a great place to relax and bring the family for some fun.
If you want to camp there you will need to make a reservation at this website. Enjoy your trip!

Salt Springs, Florida - Ocala National Forest Natural Mineral Spring
The presence of potassium, magnesium and sodium salts give the waters a slight salinity - hence the name Salt Springs. Plenty of outdoor activities keep campers and day-use visitors busy, including swimming in the springs, fishing, snorkeling, hiking and boating. Salt Springs is located between the St. Johns and Ocklawaha Rivers, 35 miles east of Ocala, Florida.
