Lake House Daylesford - Australia's iconic gourmet retreat
Daylesford is now a regional food mecca, a status that has been inspired and nurtured over more than 30 years by the co-owner and founder of Lake House, Alla Wolf-Tasker AM.
Lake House
Lake House, Daylesford, is an inspirational tale of tenacity, faith and talent starring Allan and Alla Wolf Tasker. This creative and ambitious dynamic duo foresaw the seemingly impossible transformation from overgrown wasteland to sophisticated hotel, gourmet restaurant and cutting-edge spa. And they continue to remain hands-on behind the scenes. Respected Chef Alla oversees the restaurant's seasonal, locally sourced menu, while acclaimed artist Allan often retreats to his studio located in the fern gully above Salus Spa. Embraced by tall trees and artfully placed flora and fauna, this serene sanctuary of nine wooden treatment rooms on stilts overlooks Lake Daylesford and emits a soothing vibe to the sound of gently flowing streams nearby. Whether spa-ing with a group of girlfriends, your loved one or on your own, Salus Spa's treatment menu is a thoughtfully designed list of Elemis therapies with something to suit everyone. Half/full-day packages have been specifically created for men, women, expectant mothers, couples and hen parties, and the spa may be exclusively hired. However, for guests staying in the two-bedroom Retreat at Lake House, spa treatments come to you; in the comfort of your room or private garden. A word of advice: avoid disappointment and book a thermal cocoon well in advance - they're very popular and have limited availability.
