Salzburg #4 │Salzburg City Center - A summer evening in Salzburg
Again back in Salzburg - the city has so many advantages. First of all it is directly situated at the German border which means that you reach Salzburg from Berchtesgaden within several minutes. Secondly, Salzburg is cozy small but nevertheless full of attractions worth visiting.
All the restaurants where you can have a break in the evening are so cool and precious. On a summer evening, strolling through the allies and squares is so much fun because the mixture between Austrian historic houses and the relaxing spirit everywhere makes you feel home from the very first moment on.
From all kinds of restaurants over snack bars and cocktail bars, you will surely find the right address you wanna spend your evening hours watching all the people passing by. Have a nice cocktail while crazy chicks fool around at the bachelorette's party and hope to become a part of the game within seconds.
There's always a cool surprise waiting around the corner.

We had a short weekend we spent in Salzburg.
the bus from Prague was 6 hours and we had a buy 1 get 1 free ticket via LEO express bus company. Check their website, they often have deals like that.
Salzburg is awesome and not such a large city that you can get lost.
The main sites are old town, the fortress and Mozart's birth house and later residence.
Make sure to drop by Cafe Sacher for the best sacher cake in the world (as we were told). I agree after trying it.
Oktoberfest is pretty awesome here, drinking for the adults and amusement rides and arcades for the kids.
It's not as expensive as Vienna but can still be rather pricey. We stayed in an airbnb about 20 minutes walk from old town.
Public transportation is easy and I recommend to buy the 24 hour tickets as opposed to single use.
A day trip from here would be Hallstatt which is covered in my other video on that town.

Beer and History: Salzburg Day Tour
See more details on the blog:
Melynda found a free walking tour of Salzburg from BigBoyTravel.com and we took a whirlwind tour of Salzburg. It was post holiday markets and you might not think there's much to do in Salzburg in the winter but we were nearly the only tourists in the city that winter day so we were able to cover a lot of ground quickly. Downside: a few things closed before we could get to them. The winter Salzburg weather was cold and grey but we did get to try a sacher torte!

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Salzburg
Salzburg, one of Austria's most beautiful historic cities, makes a wonderful base for day trips into the equally picturesque surrounding countryside. Great excursions from the birthplace of Mozart include a riverboat cruise along the wide River Salzach; a drive through the Salzburg Alps to enjoy the stunning city views from the 1,853-meter-tall Untersberg mountain; and the pretty village of Werfen, home to Eisriesenwelt, the world's largest network of ice caves. Salzburg is also a great place from which to explore other Austrian cities, as well as many scenic parts of neighboring Germany. And thanks to the country's excellent rail network, cities such as Vienna and Innsbruck - each less than a couple of hours away - are also day trip options worth considering. Here fife day trips from Salzburg, Austria.

Visit Salzburg - Top Ten Sights in Salzburg, Austria
woltersworld.com
Salzburg, Austria is amazing, you may remember it as the setting of The Sound of Music, or as Mozart's birthplace or just because it is one of the top ten cities to see in central Europe. Salzburg is breathtaking with a lot on offer to tourists. Here is our list of the top ten things to see and do in Salzburg, Austria.
Filmed in Salzburg, Austria
WHAT TO SEE IN SALZBURG AUSTRIA IN ONE DAY ⏳????????
Salzburg is located in central Austria at the northern edge of the alps, with a population on 150,000 people. It is the fourth largest city in Austria and a popular destination for 4 reasons: it's famous baroque architecture deemed the old town a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's the birthplace of Mozart, the Salzburg music festival, and it is famous for being the filming location of the The Sound of Music. The city is divided by the Salzach river, with the new part of town on one side and the old part on the other.
1. Hohensalzburg - translates to high Salzburg fortress perched high above the baroque towers of the city. It is the city's famous landmark and one of the largest, fully preserved medieval castles in Europe. Construction began in 1077, built under the archbishop Gebhard during the time when Salzburg was a city in the Holy Roman Empire. Even though you see many cannons, it was never actually used in battle. It was so foreboding that nobody every attacked Salzburg for 1000 years!
The fortress is accessible by cable car, making it one of the major tourist attractions. It is also my favorite spot for panoramic views of the city. Make sure to grab a bite at one of the cafes at the top of the castle and appreciate the views of the alps.
2. Mozart's Birthplace - This is Mozart's childhood home. He lived on the third floor for 26 years and is now a museum. Mozart is regarded as one of the greatest composers of the classical period and recognized as a prodigy and one of the most prolific artists. By age 6 he was writing his own compositions. The music plays almost everywhere in this city, and many shops and tourist attractions are dedicated to him.
3. DomQuartier - If you like Baroque architecture, you will love photographing the grandiosity of the DomQuartier. The DomQuartier is the cultural highlight in the heart of the city. The archbishop was key in building this opulent city - he strived to make Salzburg the Rome of the north. The city's planning and architecture is such a masterpiece that it is protected by UNESCO. It includes the Salzburg Cathedral constructed in the early 16oos. The historic old town survived the ravages of the war, and is hence where most of the tourist attractions are located.
4. Residenzplatz - Residence Square - Is part of the old town and one of the most impressive attractions in Salzburg.
5. The Sound of Music was filmed in 1965, and tours of the filming locations make Salzburg a popular destination.
If you are in central Europe, be sure to visit Salzburg.

Visit Salzburg: Top Things To Do In Salzburg!
Learn more about Salzburg on my blog here:
Planning to visit Salzburg? Want to see the sound of music in Salzburg? These are my top things to do in Salzburg, Austria!
This video gives you a fall and winter season look of The City of Mozart! Salzburg and Mozart go hand in hand in this city. You can't visit Salzburg without seeing Mozart's geburtshaus or birth house. You'll find it in Salzburg old town at 9 Getreidegasse. The home was occupied by his family for 26 years, and today it has been transformed into a museum that depicts what the home looked like in the 18th century.
Sound of Music-
Many people come to see Salzburg attractions for the sound of music. This is the home of that classic film as well as the Trapp family. You can visit the different shooting locations, hear the musical, and learn the history by walking through Salzburg old town or going here:
Salzburg Cathedral-
This is the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg and can be found right in the middle of Salzburg old town. The cathedral is surrounded by beautiful statues and is the cities most sacred building.
Sphaera Sculpture-
Right near the Salzburg cathedral is a man standing on top of a large gold sphere. This sculpture was created by German artist Stephan Balkenhol and was created to provoke confrontation and your own interpretation.
Salzburg Fortress-
This is one of the most popular Salzburg attractions in the city. You can take the tram up to the top of Fotress Hohensalzburg to see the biggest fully preserved castle in central Europe. In the castle there's museums, restaurants, breathtaking lookout points, and even the world of string puppets.
Mirabell Palace-
This palace is a cultural heritage monument. I recommend a nice stroll through the garden when it's nice outside or check out the marble halls inside.
Lake Tours-
Right outside of Salzburg old town you will find an abundance of beautiful Austrian lakes. Ask your hotel about busing through the countryside to see St. Gilgen and then take a boat tour over to St. Wolfgang.
M32 Restaurant-
Once you're back in the city, take a taxi, or elevator up from Salzburg old town to see the veiws of the city from M32. Grab a cocktail and toast outside on the lookout balcony.
Salzburg is a quaint little city that you could conquer in 2 or 3 full days. We found the best time to visit is in the fall, spring or summer months. I found that the best Salzburg attractions are enjoyed when outside in the sunshine. With that in mind, plan your visit to Salzburg around the appropriate season and don't miss out on the lake tours!
