The Sambhali Trust Graduate Sewing Centre is the workplace for over 30 women and girls living in Jodhpur. It not only is a place where women can make their own income, it is also a place where they can meet their friends, learn new skills and feel safe & independent. The products they make are being sold in the Sambhali Trust boutique in the old town of Jodhpur - from animal toys, indian clothing such as kurta, to handbags and purses - the women and girls make everything with love and dedication.

Gang Sutra | Store Visit | New Store In Jodhpur | Handmade Products | Fair Trade | The Blue Umbrella
Team 'The Blue Umbrella' visited this new store in Jodhpur 'Gang Sutra'. It's not just a store or boutique but an experience. Owner of 'Gang Sutra' Harshita Rathore says, 'Each product has a story and the artisans are from different NGOs and have different backgrounds.' She recalls one incident where a woman was shocked after knowing the price of a particular saree. It was around 22, 000/- INR and the reason it was so expensive is that it takes one and a half months to make that saree and its fully hand made. Acid Attack victim made that saree and she takes care of her family as well. There was one beautiful lamp which was painted by a person who doesn't have hands and he painted that lamp by his toes. There are beautiful baskets available in the store and they are from Mizoram made from river reed (Plant which grows in the river). They have Lamps made from Sanjhi Cutting, Apparels which are made by physically disabled from an NGO of Indore. If you stay in Jodhpur then you should definitely visit the store and contribute towards the betterment of these artisans. Find out more in the Video.

Meet Parveen, one of 10,000 women who've been impacted by Sambhali Trust over the past decade. Her husband died of AIDS, leaving her with three young boys to raise alone. Fortunately, she and her children are HIV-free. In this ChangeStream Media video, she opens up about the many hardships she’s faced trying to survive as a widow in Jodhpur, India, and how Sambhali Trust has helped her find freedom through teaching her how to sew and hiring her to create artisan clothing for the Sambhali Trust boutique. In order to make life better for her family Sambhali Trust has also provided scholarships for her three boys to attend school.
