Samson Fountain in České Budějovice at Přemysl Otakar II Square
Watch Samson Fountain in České Budějovice at Přemysl Otakar II Square. It's called Samson Fountain because it has a statue of Samson with a lion at the very top of it. The fountain is the largest fountain of its kind in Czech Republic and one of the largest in Central Europe. It was built in a baroque style nearly 300 years ago and its purpose was practical first and decorative second.
The water to the fountain is supplied from the river Vltava through a pipe system which in the 1720 when the Samson Fountain construction started was incredibly advanced and difficult to build. It took between six and seven years to complete. While the fountain served for many years as a source of drinking water, these days it serves as a tourist attraction, a meeting place and a place to cool off on a hot day.

Watch České Budějovice City Hall or Radnice and Přemysl Otakar II Square. The city hall was built in 3 years between 1555 and 1558. The original Renaissance building was rebuilt in Baroque style in 1730. The square is the main town square of České Budějovice, a city which was found in 1265, and it is the largest regular square shaped town square in the Czech Republic and one of the largest square shaped squares in Europe. All four sides of the square are 133 meters or 0.83 miles long. The area it covers is 1.769 hectares or almost 4.4 acres. Not bad for a medieval city planned and built in 13th century.
In this video you will see all the buildings of the magnificent Přemysl Otakar II Square and also the Samson Fountain which is at the center of it. But that is not all. From the square through my camera you can also see two very significant buildings. The Black Tower or Černá Věž which is 70 meters tall and which provides an excellent view of the city and surrounding areas and Saint Nicholas Cathedral or Katedrála Svatého Mikuláše where the Czech Crown Jewels or Korunovační Klenoty were once stored for a few years during a war.
The Baroque style Samson Fountain was built in 1720. It's a good meeting place for people and it serves for this purpose in České Budějovice in the same way as the statue of King Wencelsas in Prague on Wenceslas Square.

捷克巴德傑維契(CESKě BUDěJOVICE)：波西米亞奧圖塔二世（1278）為了擴張波西米亞王國的勢力範圍，必須要與南波西米亞地方的掌權者維特克家族相對抗，於是在1265年建起了一座城池，這就是捷克布傑約維采。這裏作為交通樞紐不斷地得到發展。16世紀，這裏作為鹽的交易地、釀造業和近郊開採的白銀的集中地，迎來了她最為繁華的時期。1618年開始的30年戰爭之後，城市被捲入戰火之中。1641年一場大火幾乎燒掉了所有的建築物。
進入19世紀之後，歐洲工業大發展，捷克巴德傑維契和奧地利的林茨之間鋪設了歐洲的第一條鐵路馬車軌道（1832年）。這是為了把多瑙河與伏爾塔瓦河連接起來，輸送食鹽而建的。捷克巴德傑維契以此為契機開始復興。城中最負盛名的是釀造業，1262年在布德瓦爾釀酒廠生產的，以城市名命名的啤酒百威受到捷克全國的喜愛，特點是麥芽風味濃厚，啤酒花的苦味減輕，可口。美國的百威啤酒就是來源於此。現在的城市面貌是1641年大火以後重建的，是巴洛克風格的建築。
波西米亞奧圖塔二世廣場和市政廳：普熱美斯鄂圖卡二世廣場是個正方形，長.寬同為133公尺，被包圍在五彩繽紛的巴洛克式建築和文藝復興式的建築之中。廣場中央是建於1721-1726年的參孫噴泉Samson's Fountain，號稱捷克國內最大的噴泉。站在廣場上環視四周，就能看見廣場周圍最漂亮的建築市政廳。(資料摘自Yahoo).

Video by Glenn Campbell, filmed 4 April 2018. Spontaneously recorded about five minutes after I arrived for the first time in the main square of České Budějovice, Czech Republic. Since I don't speak Czech, I don't know who the group is or what song they are singing, but given all the crosses I assume it is religious. Recorded three days after Easter. The plaza is called Přemysl Otakar II Square (náměstí Přemysla Otakara II). In the background in the middle of the video is Samson's Fountain (Samsonova kašna).
