Sancreed Holy Well in Cornwall, Mysterious radiation and glow
Inside an ancient well that pre-dates Christianity. We find a strange glowing moss and elevated radiation levels. No one knows why.
Sancreed Holy Well & Ancient Chapel
Sancreed Holy Well is down a path which is opposite to Sancreed church.
The well is Pagan and is from before Christianity was around. It got lost for hundreds of years under thickets until it was found by the vicar in the 19th century. Juliette Shanks, from Sancreed, looked after the well. She now has a plaque.
There is also a lot of ionizing radiation in the well. This is because of the granite. The water is also quite deep and is deeper than most holy wells.
People still come to the well sometimes to perform rituals. They will bath in the well and then pull of some of their shirt and hang it on the tree (but most of the bits of clothes on the tree are bought there by people who are just visiting).
Next to the well is a chapel. Inside the chapel there is a 15th century carved stone. The chapel is a small rectangle building that is ruined.
The Celtic Cross was put there in 1910.

Crystal Singing Bowls at Sancreed Holy Well , Cornwall
I had a very special day yesterday. I took 3 of my Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls to my favourite Holy Well in Penwith , South-West Cornwall.
The three different notes resonate with Chakra energy points in the body and when played together form what is know in Sound Therapy as a Healing Triad.
The Goddess/Divine Feminine energy is really strong and beautiful in this sacred place and has been a special place of connection and meditation for me since my 20s (now 46).
I also took one of the bowls down into the well chamber to play and chant. I was guided to rest the bowl actually in the well water. When laid in the well the bowl floated which enabled me to play the bowl while it was gently held in the water. It was beautiful.
*Note. As with all sacred places we have to honour and respect the space we are visiting and be mindful of the energy we are giving or taking away. Always operate from the heart.

Marked on map with chapel, west of church up a little path, all signed. Dedicated to St Credan, a Irishman, who became a swineherd after accidentally killing his father. Died in 580AD, also dediacted at Creed nr Grampound. Many Celtic crosses in churchyard. It was 'a cold and frosty morning' on my visit... Just how I like it!
Dupath Holy Well Chapel, Callington, Cornwall, UK
Under the guardianship of English Heritage, and managed by the Cornwall Heritage Trust, Dupath well is a small chapel-like building and was built in about 1510 by the Augustinian canons of the nearby priory of St Germans, to whom the site belonged. The architecture of the well-house is typical of the late 15th and early 16th centuries in a notably 'Celtic' style.
At one time the spring at Dupath was believed to cure whooping cough. In addition to its role in healing the sick, the spring was used on occasion for baptisms. One grim tale associated with Dupath recounts that two Saxons – Colan (Cornish for heart or courage) and Gottlieb – fought a duel there for a lady’s hand. But the maiden went unmarried: Colan was killed outright and Gottlieb fatally wounded, though some versions say he died later of ‘impatience.
Sancreed Well Radiation
The high radiation coming from Sancreed Holy Well in Cornwall, a well famous for having a very high above background level of radiation.
The geiger counter was showing large and even dangerous (although it wouldn't hurt you unless you were actually living in the well) levels of radiation.
This high count is because Sancreed Well is a granite chamber with only one entrance. The steep steps make the well almost enclosed.
Many ancient sites in Penwith, especially the fogous, have a high radiation count. It's possible that these sites were purposely built in a place with a high radiation count, perhaps to give some sort of effect.

I took 3 of my quartz crystal singing bowls to Sancreed Holy Well in Cornwall in late May . They are tuned vibrationally to the Sacral , Heart and Third Eye Chakra energy centres of the body. Played together thay form a 'healing triad' of frequencies which are especially good for empowerment and change.
Without change we can never move forward but we often resist change because we fear it. These frequencies will help you surrender and flow with the natural cycles and rhythms of life.

Sancreed Church
Sancreed Church is a parish church dedicated to St Creden in the village of Sancreed, Near Penzance in Penwith, Cornwall.
The church dates mainly from the 13th and 15th centuries with the tower dating from the late 14th to early 15th century. The church was restored in 1881 and then again in 2017.
Some crosses can be found in the churchyard, one (the tallest) is inscribed with patterns and was re-erected in the restorations of 2017 after it was in loose ground and slightly leaning. These crosses date from long before the church and show that this has been an important site for well over a millennia.
The church is built out of Granite and, inside, the church has some absolutely stunning carvings in wood and an equally stunning stained glass window. Other things of interest in the church are the font with carved faces in it and the almost definitely Victorian (although there's no official dating) Positive Organ.
St Ruan Holy Well
St Ruan Holy Well is a holy well between Grade and Cadgwith on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. It is the most southerly holy well in Britain.
Despite being called St Ruan Holy Well, it is actually dedicated to St Grada and a slate inside the 15th century well house calls it 'St Grada's Holy Well'. St Ruan is the name of the hamlet in which the well is located in (or near to).
The well house, which is made from the local stone Serpentine, was restored in the the mid 19th century however Quiller-Couch reported that the restoration did not ruin the 'picturesque' condition of the well.
The well house originally had a cross however this was removed and is now in nearby Grade Church.

St Winifrede's Well, Holywell, North Wales
The story of St.Winifrede goes back to AD660. Legend tells us that in that year, a local Welsh prince named Caradoc had made advances to Winifrede but she turned him down. In a rage he severed her head with his sword. Where her head fell, a spring arose. Winifred was brought back to life by her uncle St.Beuno, the Abbot of Clynnog Fawr. The well is known as 'The Lourdes of Wales'.
