Reggae Beach South Fryer's Bay St. Kitts
St Kitts, Friars Bay Beach and Shipwreck shack
St Kitts - what beach?
This video takes you to a great shack at the end of Friars Beach, after landing at the very plush Carambola Club on the island of #stkitts.
South Friars Bay is a great bay.
We also suggest Frigate Bay, slightly closer to the port which helps #cruise passengers with limited time. It has a nice sandy #beach and lots of beach bars/restaurants.
If you like it more commercial, try Cockleshell/Reggae Beach. Lots going on but the water is often cloudy/rough, and it's a longer taxi ride.
Please share our #cruisetips. Or contact us and we will help you make a film for Doris Visits.

Cockleshell Beach in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis
One of the more popular beaches in St. Kitts, Cockleshell Bay is on the island's southern tip facing Nevis, which means it offers great views of its sister island. The beach's stark white sands contrast with the calm jewel-toned waves that lap up against travelers' feet. Cockleshell Bay stretches across 2 miles and is also home to a few hip beach bars (including a highly praised reggae joint) and seafood eateries. Visitors warn that the sands can get crowded when cruise ships are in port and suggest heading here early to stake out some prime beach real estate. Many also warned beachgoers to keep an eye out for the vendors with monkeys trying to entice you to hold them and take a photo (for which they expect to be paid).
Cockleshell Beach is a secluded two mile stretch of sand at Cockleshell Bay. Our bus dropped us off near the Spice Mill Restaurant where there was also a small bar and gift shop. There were washroom facilities there, too. Down by the beach, Justin and I claimed two lounger chairs in close proximity to the water.
We were pleased that it wasn’t very busy there at all. As it was such a lengthy stretch of beach, the chairs were pretty spaced out. There weren’t even that many people swimming in the ocean.
The sand was powdery and soft on our feet. The water was just spectacular, both for swimming and for its looks. Gradient shades of turquoise blue extended off to the horizon where mountains rose from the sea in the distance.
Cockleshell Bay faces a stretch of water called The Narrows, with gorgeous views of the neighbouring island of Nevis. I’d never visited a beach before where there were lush mountain views directly ahead, not connected to the mainland. Breathtaking was an understatement.
Cockleshell Beach in St Kitts is the perfect beach to walk along barefoot. Feel the breeze in your hair and the sand between your toes. We walked from our beach chairs to the far western point of the bay where we discovered a rock wall.
Just beyond the beach, there was a sandy path leading up to an overlook with palm trees. It provided an excellent vantage point to see the entire beach.
For the two of us, Cockleshell Beach checked all of the boxes to make it the perfect beach destination. First of all, it’s absolutely gorgeous. The water is warm and the views are stunning.
Next, it’s not very crowded. Despite being a popular cruise ship stop, there’s such a lengthy stretch of beach here, it’s easy to have your own space.
Third of all, it’s a fantastic beach to walk around and explore. While we didn’t walk the entire length of the beach, you could explore the east side to visit the Reggae Beach Bar and Grill. There are also water sports and equipment available for rent there. While that end of the beach seems to be a little more happening, we loved our romantic, quiet space near the Spice Mill Restaurant.
Cockleshell Bay beach is free to access, though you may need some cash to rent beach chairs or enjoy conch fritters and drinks at one of the beach bars

Visiting the Marriott in St. Kitts? Beat the Seaweed with a little hike!
Love the Marriott in St. Kitts. The rooms are awesome and the views are spectacular. The beaches at the moment are having a seaweed issue though. The resort has done a good job getting us a clean spot to enjoy, but there is a rumor that there is a seaweed free area within walking distance... Tune in for the adventure as I search for the seaweed free beach area.

Saint Kitts best beaches: Reggae, Cockleshell, Banana Bay, Park Hyatt travel vlog GoPro HD
During my Royal Caribbean cruise around the Caribbean, visiting Saint Kitts, I decided to go to one of its most beautiful parts - Cockleshell Beach - the best beach on the southeast peninsula. This crescent of white, powdered sand with calm, shallow waters, Caribbean bars and restaurants and a place for water sports is the best point to admire the island of Nevis.
I directed my steps to the legendary Reggae Beach Bar. The main rule on the island is We rush slowly here. It is true that no one is in a hurry, even cars are moving more slowly. It's a great experience when we feel time slowing down, especially in such beautiful natural circumstances.
On my lazy Caribbean day I would like to recommend you my idea. Right next to the famous Reggae Beach is the picturesque Banana Bay beach. It is true that this is a closed area of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbor, where the price per night starts from 700 USD. I was lounging there in the sun enjoying all the good things of a luxury hotel. I recommend you pay the daily entrance fee (from 50 USD) and feel real relaxation.

South Frigate Bay, or locally known as The Strip, is the main entertainment area on the island. It is also a beach bar heaven. Over a dozen beach bars line this strip of sand, many with live music, beach bonfires, delicious feed and strong drinks...all just steps away from the calm waters of the Caribbean.
I arrived aboard the Sagitta, a 120ft. tall ship from Island Windjammers ( ). We spend the day relax on the sand and later that night enjoyed a beach BBQ at the Shiggidy Shack.

A Salty Passion: Hi! We are Ryan (RumShopRyan) and Crystal (Castaway Crystal), we document, photograph, and film the best the Caribbean has to offer. Whether it’s stunning beaches, relaxing hotels, friendly restaurants, or soggy beach bars…we want to share it and inspire others to explore the islands.
MEET US!
Who Is RumShopRyan:
Howdy! I’m Ryan and I hail from the land-locked, can’t get any further from the ocean, state of Kansas. I moved to laid back southwest Florida in 2001. I didn’t know a single person and didn’t have a job. Risky I know, but the ocean was calling and I had to answer.
I’m a huge fan of Kansas City sports, so you’ll probably see a lot of Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals attire in my photos. Kansas City is a great town and I’m glad I’m from there, but the coastal life was calling. It’s kind of like Kenny Chesney’s “island boy” song. Check out the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.
I write because I’m passionate about the Caribbean and the island lifestyle, and it’s my way to share it with you. If it has anything to do with the Caribbean, rum drinks, beach style music, or Caribbean culture, you’ll be able to find it on this site.
When in the Caribbean you’ll find a camera around my neck and note pad in my pocket. This is how I document the experiences in unique and interesting ways and bring it back to you, the Castaways.
Who is Castaway Crystal:
I was raised in Southwest Florida so it’s no surprise that I have a love for beaches, water and nature. As a child, most weekends were spent fishing in the warm gulf waters on the family boat. As an adult, most weekends are spent soaking up the sun on Ft. Myers Beach. Even though I have always loved the coastal life, I don’t think I fully appreciated it until I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m all about experiencing new things, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist I thought it would be amazing to massage some of Nashville’s biggest stars (a girl can dream right?). But I missed the sun and sand too much—and let’s not forget the rum runners! After a year I couldn’t take it anymore, this sun bunny moved back to her coast of somewhere beautiful.
I’ve always been passionate about photography and writing but my passions never really had a purpose until I met Ryan. I couldn’t be happier being Ryan’s first mate and sharing my photos and stories with you. May they inspire you to go after your tropical dreams and wishes. Make a plan…Set a date…Just go!
