(Wendell Williams reader with photo) Secretary of State Ross Miller today forwarded a case to the Nevada Attorney General's office to pursue payment of fines levied against former State Assemblyman Wendell Williams as a result of campaign law violations. Campaign finance reform is a priority in my administration, said Miller. Mr. Williams' failure to file campaign contribution and expense reports for the 2002 election cycle and pay subsequent fines is not something we take lightly. His failure to file the required reports, and his subsequent failure to pay the civil penalties associated with the violation by fulfilling his obligations under the payment agreement he entered into with this office clearly necessitate aggressive collection efforts. We're prepared to take whatever steps are necessary to collect the remaining $9,500 that Williams owes to the State of Nevada as well as any interest, attorney's fees and costs incurred as a result of his failure to meet his payment obligations.
