This is a video clip I took of the Sandia Mountains toward sundown on November 20 2007. It was taken from the Elena Gallegos Picnic Grounds which is in the foothills. The Sandia's border right up against the very east side of the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It's like having a nature get away literally in your backyard. There are black bear, deer, coyotes, fox....etc. Hell, even mountain lions have recently been spotted. I have seen the black bear.

New Mexico // Sandia Peak Tramway + Old Town Albuquerque
In this episode, we begin checking another state off of our list, this time it is New Mexico's turn. Minutes after arriving in New Mexico, we embark on the Sandia Peak Tramway, the largest tramway in the United States. After we spend time and take in views at approximately 10,000 feet elevation, we visit Old Town Albuquerque. The Old Town is exactly how we envisioned Albuquerque; cobblestone alleys and adobe-style structures.

Albuquerque, New Mexico - Breaking Bad, Old Town, Nuclear Energy and Sandia Peak
Product: Country Bound Microfiber Towel
Today we explore Albuquerque, New Mexico. Being a Breaking Bad fan I started my day by visiting some of the show's locations, including Twister's also known as Los Pollos Hermanos, Walter Whites house, the Car Wash, and Hank's home. Then I went to Old Town, had lunch at the oldest house Church Street Cafe. Then I visited the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, and finally took a ride on the Sandia Peak Tramway.

Sandia Mountains New Mexico Peak Cruise
Took this series of video clips late morning on February 18th 2008. Starts on old Route 66 in Tijeras Canyon on up to the observation platform at the top. Half way up I stopped for a few minutes at the Sandia Ski area. That is the steps you see me walking up. There was more snow towards the top then I expected but it was still a beautiful day.

Sandia Peak Tramway, Albuquerque, NM: Road Life More Life
Having the world's 3rd longest single span and being the longest aerial tram in the United States, Sandia Peak Tramway created quite the adventure for us! The 360 views from the tram itself and the crestline of the Sandia Mountains were spectacular! There are multiple viewpoints and even trails at the top of the peak!

Sandia Mountain Crest Albuquerque New Mexico
View from the top of Sandia Crest - the Sandia Mountains are just east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. You can drive up to the top from the east side or take a tram ride up from the city on the west side. The mountains do not have a summit. Instead, the high point is a long ridge called the Sandia Crest. At 10,678 feet in elevation, the vegetation here is vastly different than in Albuquerque that lies about 4,500 feet below. Access to the Sandia Crest is easy and this is a popular tourist destination. The best wildflower viewing is along a hiking trail that starts at the southwestern corner of the parking lot. The trail is paved for a short distance for handicapped access and then becomes packed dirt. It is relatively level and easy to walk. The trail follows the limestone outcrops along the crest and then heads into the forest so you have an opportunity to see both sun-loving and shade-loving plants.
