Program: How You Can Turn People Power into Political Power
Guest Speaker: Harrison Wallace, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, Virginia Director
We will learn about the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) which has been successfully implemented in nine New England and Mid-Atlantic states as a mandatory market-based program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In the 2019 General Assembly, it is recommended that Virginia not simply “link” to RGGI, but formally “join” RGGI. Thereby, as a full-member state, Virginia could receive up to $1 billion in revenue by 2030. This money could then be invested into a clean energy economy and create green jobs in Virginia. Less carbon in the air is good for our health and good for the earth.
The presentation includes a video and song entitled “Standing Like A Tree”.
We will have a cake to celebrate the victories of two Sierra Club endorsed candidates who represent areas in the York River Group geographical area:
Elaine Luria, Congressional District 2, newly elected
Congressman Bobby Scott, Congressional District 3, reelected to his 14th term, a true friend to the environment.
We have invited the candidates or a representative to attend our program.

Episode 7 Sandy Bottoms Part 1 | Buol and Gast family adventure
Welcome to our Channel!!
#obsessionwithhappiness
Ep 7 Part 1 Sandy Bottoms: The Buol and Gast family go full blown tent camping in this episode. WOW!! Sleeping in a tent with 4 dogs is RUFF!! But we managed it. If you haven't ever been to Sandy Bottoms on the Toccoa River, you need to visit this spot. It is an incredible camping experience and you won't be disappointed. The only thing you may not enjoy is the out houses for the bathrooms. But does a bear S* in the woods?
Located just outside of Clayton Georgia in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, (link provided below) Sandy Bottoms is a repeat campsite. The Gast family, Sandy's side of the family happened to just stumble on this location after attempting to camp in Helen Georgia years ago. The campsite was full in Georgia so the traversed their way into the mountains (paved roads) to find on the most beautiful camp site. They have been going back for almost 18 years.
Enjoy this 2 part episode (2nd part coming next week or sooner) And remember be sure to Subscribe, Like, Comment and turn that bell notification on. DO IT!!!!

Hampton History Museum research sheds light on first Africans in Virginia
What do we actually know about the first Africans who came to Virginia 400 years ago? The Hampton History Museum's Beth Austin spent a good bit of time going back to original sources to put together a new report detailing everything available on 1619: Virginia's First Africans. Museum Director Luci Cochran says the new research will inform the museum's ongoing work this year and its exhibits. For more information, go to hamptonhistorymuseum.org/1619
