Shipwreck Pamead Sandy Ground, Anguilla
Remains of Cargo Ship Pamead IMO# 5272189 flagged in Anguilla was built 1955 by Holst Schiffswerftin ship builders in Hamburg, Germany. In September of 1995 during Hurricane Louis a category 5 storm, she was grounded in the area known as Sandy Ground Village on the Island of Anguilla.

An Escape to Anguilla Family Fun at Sandy Ground Beach
This kid friendly family fun adventure continues as we travel to Anguilla. We embark on the final leg of our journey from St Martin to Anguilla by Ferry. ANGUILLA a tropical paradise in the Caribbean is known for its white sandy beaches and crystal clear water that displays every shade of blue imaginable.
We quickly took in the beauty of Anguilla as we stopped at the overlook in backstreet South hill gazing upon the magnificent ranges of blue Sandy Ground beach displayed; a common feature all of Anguilla beaches share.
We then drove to Sandy Ground Village. On the way to the beach we passed Sandy Ground pond and a lot of salt foam was close to the road. This was once a vibrant salt plant providing employment for the Anguillian communities in the early 80's . This salt was shipped as far as Europe. The pond and beach are so close to each other you can hear the waves embracing the shoreline. Jalen was excited to play in the water. Jonathan opted for playing in the sand only. We saw boys jumping off a nearby pier while others were line fishing.
When the sun came out to play the beauty of Sandy Ground beach was breathtaking. The Crystal clear water, white sand and lovely shades of blue. We also meet a local Vendor selling conch shells carved into different souvenirs. The family enjoyed every second in Anguilla and counting down the time to return. Anguilla should be a place to visit on your next family vacation.
