Accommodation:
Grand Pink Hotel, Deluxe Room.
Location is amazing in the central area. To be exact, it is beside Lee Garden Plaza, opposite Centara Hotel. Directly beside there is 7/11 convenient store and Watson.
Receptionist and service were poor, unhelpful and unfriendly. Cleanliness is good, however, room carpet was sticky, once entered the room there was a mouldy smell.
Places we went:
1. Kim Yong Market - Directly opposite of Grand Pink Hotel
2. Train Station - 20 - 30mins walk from Grand Pink Hotel.
3. Lee Garden Plaza - A quiet mall, we use it mainly as a landmark for Grab service.
4. Rim Rua Kratha Ron Restaurant - 10 mins ride by Tuktuk from Grand Pink Hotel. Cheap, affordable with a good spread of varieties, non-alcoholic drinks included. Both BBQ and Mookata (Steamboat) included.
5. Salma - Serve great Halal Muslim food, less than 5 mins walk from Grand Pink Hotel.
6. Phu Pha Phet Cave a.k.a Diamond Cave - 2 hours drive by our personal private driver Mr Suthon. The cave in located in Satun Province, Phu Phat Phet Cave is the 5th Largest Cave in the world. - Video taken are taken poorly by the poor lighting. You really need to be there, it is breathtakingly beautiful.
**Please bring along a strong torchlight or a headlight (Otherwise, rental is available), good shoes are advisable along with comfortable clothes.**
7. Wang Sai Thong (A place mainly known by Locals) . - 20 mins car ride from Phu Pha Phet Cave
Rafting supplies and cared by Croda. + Lunch was provided too.
8. Asean Night Market - 10 - 15mins Tuktuk ride from Grand Pink Hotel (Beside Greenway Night Market & Central Festival Mall)
9. Greenway Night Market - 10 - 15mins Tuktuk ride from Grand Pink Hotel (Beside Asean Night Market & Central Festival Mall)
the 3 malls stated above, are near to each other. It is also near to Rim Rua Kratha Ron Restaurant too. However, please note due to the opening and closing hours you need to plan your shopping trip well. Both night markets are huge.
10. Cook Chai Dim Sum - 5 mins Tuktuk ride from Grand Pink Hotel.
11. Wat Khok Sung Temple (A Local Temple) - 30mins Grab Car Ride.
It is in the middle of a highway, therefore hiring a Tuktuk/Grab Car back to central may be a challenge. Dogs in the temple can be quite fierce be sure to stand still and slowly walk away when approached. A good experience if you want to try a flower bath, like how the local does.
12. Namtok Ton Nga Chang - 30mins drive by Mr Suthon.
A waterfall with 7 level high. The challenge increases every level, a proper hiking shoe with good grip is a must if you plan to conquer 7 levels. Be sure to be safe, as there are part where you will be climbing by the side of the cliff.
Park ranger is around for your assistance.
13. Big C Supermarket - 20mins ride by Tuktuk
A good place to buy cheap Thailand snacks. Be sure to inform your driver clearly Big C Supermarket, not Big C Extra.
Big C Extra is where you buy electronics, Big C Extra and Supermarket is about 10-15mins drive apart.
14. Chokdee Dim Sum - 10mins walk from Grand Pink Hotel.

Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Korat, Issan, Phimai Night Market, Thailand. ( 28 )
The province is located on the western end of the Korat Plateau, separated from the Chao Phraya river valley by the Phetchabun and Dong Phaya Yen mountain ranges. Two national parks are in the province - the Khao Yai in the west and the Thap Lan in the south. Both parks are in the forested mountains of the Sankamphaeng Range, the southern prolongation of the Dong Phaya Yen mountains. Nakhon Ratchasima, or Korat, is a large province on the north eastern plateau and acts as a gateway to other provinces in the Northeast. It is 259 kilometres ( 161 miles ) from Bangkok and has an area of around 20,494 square kilometres (7,913 sq mi), making it the biggest Thai province. The province is rich in Khmer culture and has a long history.
The area around Khorat was already an important centre in the times of the Khmer empire in the 11th century, as can be seen by the temple ruins in the Phimai historical park. Still, Nakhon Ratchasima Province is one province where there is a sizable Northern Khmer population. A new walled city with a surrounding moat, designated as Nakhon Ratchasima, was built in the seventeenth century by order of the King Narai, as the easternmost command post, guarding the Kingdom's border and supervising its Lao and Cambodian vassals. It continued this duty during the Bangkok Period, although it was seized by deceit during Chao Anuwong of Vientiane's 1826 revolt against the King Rama III of Siam.
Nakhon Ratchasima has long been the most important political and economic centre in the northeastern region. In the late nineteenth century, the railroad reached Khorat became the junction of two main rail lines in the Northeastern, Issan, region. In 1933 it was the stronghold of the royalist troops in the Boworadej Revolt, as they fought the new democratic government in Bangkok. In the 1950's, the Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base was built in Nakhon Ratchasima; from 1961 until 26 February 1976, this facility was also used as a base by the United States Air Force.
A monument to Thao Suranaree ( real name: Khun Ying Mo; 1771–1852 ) is situated in front of the old Prau Chumpon gate. Also called The Great Heroine of Khorat, Kun Ying Mo was the wife of the Deputy Governor of Khorat during the reign of King Rama III. In 1826, Khun Ying Mo managed to save the city from an invasion by the Laotian army led by Prince Anouvong of Vientiane. King Rama III conferred the title of Thao Suranaree on Khun Ying Mo, as well as additional ones honouring her bravery.
Roads Highway 2 ( Mittraphap Road ) is the main route that connects 9 districts in Nakhon Ratchasima including Muang district. This route also connects Nakhon Ratchasima to Saraburi and Khon Kaen provinces. As, Highway No. 24 links Si Khio district from the Highway 2 to Pak Thongcha, Chok Chai and Nong Bunnak districts and to Buriram province.
Rail systems The railway system in Nakhon Ratchasima is on both north-eastern routes from Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong central terminal. Nakhon Ratchasima has 8 main railway stations.
Bus service Mini-bus and bus routes operate in the city and nearby areas. There are non air-conditioned buses from the provincial town which go to every district. As for travel to nearby provinces, there are both air and non air-conditioned ones.
Songthaew (public passenger pick-up vehicle) Songthaew or public passenger pick-up vehicle is the most popular mode of public transportation in all the town districts. These run on fixed routes.
Taxis are plentiful, clean, safe, and inexpensive in Khorat. They can be found at taxi stands in the city areas or hailed on the streets. There are also certain taxis that can be requested by phone, however, the fare is slightly higher than regular taxis. An increasing number of taxi drivers nowadays speak some English which may prove extremely useful for first-time visitors. The fare system is based on both distance and time. Fares begin at 30 Bath for the first 2 kilometres.
Motorbike-taxi The motorbike taxis are found mainly in the town areas and are used mainly for short distances.
Airport Nakhon Ratchasima has one airport but as of June 2007, it no longer services any flights. The nearest airport is in Buriram and has flights to and from Bangkok.
Loi Krathong-ลอยกระทง-festival celebrated annually throughout southwestern Tai cultures 12
Loi Krathong[a] (Thai: ลอยกระทง, IPA: [lɔːj kràʔ tʰoŋ]) is a festival celebrated annually throughout southwestern Tai cultures, (Thailand, Laos, Shan, Tanintharyi, Kelantan, Kedah and Xishuangbanna). The name could be translated as to float a basket, and comes from the tradition of making krathong or buoyant, decorated baskets, which are then floated on a river. In 2015 it will be celebrated on 25 November; in 2016 on 15 November.Loi Krathong is often claimed to have begun in the Sukhothai by a court lady named Nopphamat. However, it is now known that the Nopphamat tale comes from a poem written in the early Bangkok period.[3] According to H.M. King Rama IV, writing in 1863, it was a Brahmanical festival that was adapted by Thai Buddhists in Thailand to honor Buddha, Prince Siddhartha Gautama. The candle venerates the Buddha with light, while the krathong's floating symbolizes letting go of all one's hatred, anger, and defilements. People sometime cut their fingernails or hair and place the clippings on the krathong as a symbol of letting go of past transgressions and negative thoughts. Many ordinary Thai use the krathong to thank the Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha (Thai: พระแม่คงคา).
The beauty contests that accompany the festival are known as Nopphamat Queen Contests. According to legend, Nang Nopphamat (Thai: นางนพมาศ; alternatively spelled as Noppamas or Nopamas) was a consort of the 13th century Sukhothai king Sri Indraditya (who is also known as Phra Ruang) and she had been the first to float a decorated raft.[4] However, this is a new story which was invented during the first part of the 19th century. There is no evidence that a Nang Nopphamat ever existed. Instead, it is a matter of fact that a woman of this name was the leading character of a novel released at the end of the reign of King Rama III, around 1850 CE. Her character was written as guidance for all women who wished to become civil servants.
Kelantan in Malaysia celebrates Loi Krathong similarly, especially in the Tumpat area. The ministry in charge of tourism in Malaysia recognises it as an attraction for tourists. Many people visit the celebration each year../MVI 1741
Thailand-Life | OUR Thai Story
To us, our Thailand-Life is truly amazing & incredibly fulfilling, but before moving to Thailand it was a real struggle to get where we are now.
Our Thai-Story started way back nearly 15 years ago. We are hoping that this short musical video gives you guys some idea of our Thai journey & the laughs & trials we have had along the way.
We appreciate some of the photos are of a lesser quality than we would like, but they are from many years ago when phone cameras were not the best.

Special thanks to our good friend Neil Harvey for yet another great audio track - STREAMS. We are so grateful & probably owe you a free weeks stay.

EXPLORING RURAL THAILAND ~ Sightseeing in Thailand
~~~
Welcome to Toon & Leigh porpeang farm Thailand (Youtube channel started April 2017).
We live in the quiet Prang Sila Thong district of Kampheang Phet.
The late King of Thailand ~ Rama IX (King Bhumibol Adulyadej) was a great teacher of leading a porpeang farming existence.
Porpeang centres around being as close to self sufficiency as possible & not concentrating on growing one crop. The selling of any surplus goes towards buying essentials such as clothes & fuel etc.
It is a way of life that creates very little waste, uses few chemicals & can help the local community.
The vast diversity that can be achieved within a small area is amazing & brings the farmer closer to nature.
Choosing to live the porpeang way can be a steep learning curve with livestock, fish, fruits & vegetables all needing care & attention.
In addition to the farm we are also constructing a jungle style fishing lake.
Cheers Toon & Leigh
KAMPHAENG PHET
In the lower north of Thialand on the bank of the Ping River, Kamphaeng Phet is about halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai
Areas along the river bank at present-day city used to host several ancient towns which had played a major role as strategic front-lines since Sukhothai was the kingdom's capital down through the times of Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin (Bangkok) eras. In fact, the name Kamphaeng Phet actually means walls as strong as diamonds
Its great history fell into oblivion & Kamphaeng Phet was an ordinary, smallish province city until the establishment of the historical park and its listing as a World Heritage site in 1991. Still, Kamphaeng Phet is—unlike its well-known neighbour Sukhothai—ignored by the main flow of tourists. Some may view this as a drawback, but those looking to experience the authentic, upcountry Thialand, are coming just to the right place
The province is subdivided in 11 districts:
Mueang Kamphaeng Phet
Sai Ngam
Khlong Lan
Khanu Woralaksaburi
Khlong Khlung
Phran Kratai
Lan Krabue
Sai Thong Watthana
Pang Sila Thong
Bueng Samakkhi
How to make real Thai Food Desserts...Bangkok, Thailand off Silom Road
This is like a pancake with sweet sauce inside and colored sugar inside as well. The orange is not cheese, but a sweet sugar. They are only eaten when cooled.
Phra That Kong Khao Noi - ubon
Phra That Kong Khao Noi is an ancient stupa or Chedi, a structure that enshrines holy Buddhist relics. Built during the 18th-20th century in the late Ayutthaya period, the small, square brick pagoda has a distinctive spire. The middle part of the structure is ornamented with decorative doors on all four sides. A brick wall surrounds the pagoda. A sacred Buddha image is also located behind the pagoda. Legend has it that it was built by a young farmer who was repentant after murdering his mother. In a tale that aims to teach forbearance, it is said that the young farmer grew irate when a lunchbox packed by his mother seemed to have a tiny amount of rice. Furious, he killed his mother. It was only when he discovered that there was in fact so much rice he could not finish his lunch, as it was packed tightly, that he realized his folly.
The stupa is located in the rice paddies of Tambon Tatthong. It is 9 kilometers from Yasothon town. Take Highway No. 23 (Yasothon-Ubon Ratchathani Road), and turn at Km. 194. Continue for 1 more kilometer to reach the stupa.
Floating Lanterns Festival - Yi Peng - Loy Krathong - Chiang Mai, Thailand
2013 Yi Peng Lantern Release - Video Quick Links (Click on Times):
- 00:00 Beginning of Lantern Release
- 01:00 Call to Release Lanterns
- 05:54 Song Change - Beautiful & Mesmerizing Moment
- 10:45 Fireworks Begin
This video was taken at the 2013 Yi Peng lantern release at Mae Jo University in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
For those who have never been to this event, this video covers the entire lantern release which includes music and fireworks. The music that starts at 5:54 is quite mesmerizing and works very well for this beautiful event (anyone who knows the name of the song or who sings it, please pass this along). The fireworks start at 10:45.
In Chiang Mai the celebration is known as Yi Peng (the full moon of the second month), as the twelfth month in the Thai Lunar Calendar corresponds to the second month in the traditional calendar of the old northern Lanna kingdom. The festival features beautifully illuminated lanterns, which are either carried, displayed in houses and temples, and even launched into the night sky.
Going to Tesco in Korat-Thailand 15.AVI
Riding in a car heading toward Tesco, a department type store. I guess it could be compared to a Kmart or Target with a food department and pharmacy. ownstairs, there is a KFC, MK restaurant, Dunkin Donuts, and other stores. Inside the parking lot there are stands were you can purchase goods and food before you go through the entrance. I chose not to take footage inside because we were in a hurry, and I was not comfortable doing that,so I opted not to film inside.
