Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang (Nunnery), Punakha
In this video I take you to the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang (Nunnery), Punakha. This isn't normally in the popular agendas for most people, but its a must see. We went there early morning and there was no one but us. This mountain top seemed to be in sync with natural at another level. Wonderful to witness.
There are only a few ways to enter Bhutan. Flight or road. Within Bhutan most of the time, you will be travelling by road (of course trekking options are very popular as well). Paro has an international airport but to get to the old capital of Bhutan you have to come by road. This serene valley is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. To visit Punakha its important to get your extended visa, that usually happens in Thimphu very quickly but your guide (and oh you need a guide) will be able to help you.
We had an amazing guy driving us around in our trip to Bhutan (he's actually a chef who does different businesses so he's the best person to chose the best restaurants and eateries. I'll leave his details here: 17657605/17619931 (his name is Singye).
Punakha was a tough ride but completely worth it. It's lush and so photogenic.
Next week we will be looking at the magnificent Punakha Dzong (stay tuned) Do enjoy the journey so far
Incase you want more from my trip or see what else I'm upto in my existence:

Thangtong Dewachen Dupthop or Zilukha Nunnery in Thimphu
The Tangtong Dewachen Dupthop Nunnery in located in the Zilukha area of Thimphu. This is often called as Zilukha nunnery in short. There is a beautiful lakhang inside the nunnery and a beautiful buddha statue is worshiped inside the lakhang. At the left side of the nunnery there is one big hall with thousands of butter candles. There are many small prayer wheels all around the lakhang and as usual we enjoyed rotating the prayer wheels. The nuns are very nice and allowed us to take photographs inside. The nuns are usually busy in prayers, organizing pooja items in lakhang and doing other spiritual activities.
