I visited this busy Chinese restaurant on a Saturday early afternoon at around 11:30 am with already two bowls of noodles in my stomach and looking for more. My goal was to taste as much food and chat with as many locals as possible, that's the true China experience. It was so busy, with so many people, there were so many different foods to eat and look at, tons of vegetable dishes, meat dishes, everything you could want really.
However, if you go to the place I did, DO NOT order the intestine dish. It was disgusting.
Instead of trying hot pot in Chengdu or hot pot in Chongqing, you could try some way cooler food in Chengdu at local fly restaurant like this. This should be a top priority for traveling in China in my opinion!
Chinese cuisine is so diverse, and I consider myself lucky to be able to live in Sichuan, eating Sichuan food everyday, tasting all the top Chinese foods to try whenever I want.
The addresses of the locations in the video are:
- The Dandan noodles 红烧牛肉 (Hóngshāo niúròu)
Address:龙泉驿区龙平路527号 (Lóngquányì qū lóng píng lù 527 hào) This is way out in Longquan, near the Longping subway station on Line 2. Only come here if you're looking to go up the mountain peach blossom area, otherwise, it's a bit far (unless you're crazy like me)
2.The famous fly restaurant lunch 叁无粉蒸 (sān wú fěn zhēng)
Address: 建设路54号(猛追湾横街中部)
3 The sliced beef in the Chinese muslim area (Chinese Halal Food).
顺记腌卤
Address: 成华区土桥北街6号
This one is a bit far out as well, but this one was definitely worth the long subway ride out. It's right near Jingke beilu subway station on line 2.
4.The steamed beef Chinese muslim style - wow this was great! Right on the street!
马鸭子 -This is right beside the Chinese muslim sliced beef spot, just two stores down I think
Address: 成华区土桥北街20号
This one is also right near Jingke beliu station.
5.Chinese muslim style Halal Lamb kebabs 羊肉串
Address: 成华区土桥北街22号
This one is also right near Jingke beilu station on line 2.

Salt City, China - Ancient Salt Mining in Sichuan
I traveled to Zigong China, where they've been drawing brine from the ground and turning into salt for almost 2000 years.
Salt is one of the most important commodities in the history of China. It advanced technolgy and changed the way the country looked at money. The need for salt was so high, that people claimed it was more valuable than gold.
We visit Zigong's salt museum and an ancient salt well where they are still extracting water using the ancient method from a 1000 meter hole in the ground and turning into amazing salt.

CHINA: SICHUAN: CHONGQING TO BE NEW ECONOMIC CENTRE
Mandarin/Nat
Years after launching its economic reform, China is to create a new economic centre, this time in the south-western part of the country, Sichuan.
Sichuan's Chongqing city and its surrounding areas have been designated by the central government to become China's next economic centre, after Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.
Chongqing is one of the largest cities in Sichuan province, it has long been an industrial hub.
And it's 30 (m) million residents will soon experience large scale economic reform.
Geographically, it lies on the upper stream of a 600-kilometre long reservoir, formed by the Three Gorges dam, the world's largest hydro-electric power project.
Backed by Premier Li Peng, the 300-year-old city of Chongqing together with three surrounding counties in Sichuan province have been named as a fourth municipality.
This will make the city equivalent to a province.
Looking at Shanghai as its model, the city government is pleased to be named as a municipality.
It means it will be under direct control of China's central government, thus speeding up its development projects.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
On the basis of Chongqing city, we are constructing a new industrial area on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, combining with Shanghai's Pudong area. It will make the dragon of Yangtze river fly.
SUPER CAPTION: Zhang de Ling, Party Secretary
Heavy industries such as the automobile and motorcycle are the backbone of the city's economy.
There are 10-thousand factories of various kinds with a fixed asset of 7-point-3 billion US Dollars, providing jobs for 1-point-2 million workers.
It is also one of the main iron and steel production bases and it's known for its fine ceramic products.
This ceramic factory was on the edge bankruptcy until a Hong Kong businessman took over with new management team and foreign currency for new technology.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
We've taken measures on adopting modern technology from abroad, changing the operating mechanism, improving management and workers' level of education. We modernised the factory which was going towards .
SUPER CAPTION: Factory Deputy Director, Siu Fung Ceramics Factory
Determined to renew its image, the city government has launched large scale construction projects, hoping to bring in more foreigners with investment.
Among the beneficiaries are construction workers.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
We've made a lot of money from here. All of us hope Chongqing will be a municipality directly under the control of the central government.
SUPER CAPTION: Voxpop
Like many other major Chinese cities, Chongqing is facing problems such as migrants who gave up farming and are looking for jobs in the city as better paid construction works.
In rural parts all around the country, Chinese farmers are facing heavy government taxes and fees which have driven many of them to quit farming.
In Chongqing itself people are happy that their city will become another major economic centre which benefits everyone in the area.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
It will benefit the economic development of Chongqing and all the other aspects as well. It has the support of all of Chongqing people
SUPER CAPTION: Voxpop
Located in a mountainous area, one of the barriers outsiders need to overcome is poorly maintained rocky roads.
Chongqing's residents agreed.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
As a municipality which will directly under the control of the central government, development in Chongqing will speed up. Now the most important issue is that the roads in Chongqing are bad. We hope this will be improved soon.

Top 5 Viral Escalator fails after woman dies in China
Top 5 Viral Escalator fails after woman dies in China - Ouch!
5: Mum and daughter get HANDS stuck in escalator in China after a man fell on them whilst trying to grab falling suitcase.
Every parents' nightmare at the shopping mall: Two-year-old girl and her mother BOTH get their hands trapped in escalator in China
This is the shocking moment a two-year-old girl and her mother were sent flying on an escalator and ended up with their hands trapped in the mechanism
The accident happened after a clumsy man dropped a suitcase on them, then tripped as he tried to grab it.
CCTV images of the incident show how young mum Liu Chao, 27, was standing on the escalator with her daughter when they are struck from behind.
She said: 'I was holding onto my daughter when I felt something hit us and we fell forward into another person.
'My daughter rolled past that person and then I saw her hand disappear into the side of the mechanism. When I tried to rescue her I got trapped as well.'
She said that the mechanism carried on going for several seconds before somebody had managed to press the stop button and raise the alarm, and her screaming daughter had convinced her that the child's hand had been permanently mangled.
The man who had caused the accident meanwhile ran off, dashing outside of the store in the city of Zigong in south-western China¿s Sichuan province and climbing onto a bus which then drove off.
Back inside, mum Liu said: 'I was terrified and thought that my daughter would be crippled. When the firemen turned up they had to take the escalator apart very carefully in order to make sure they didn't cause any more damage.
Store spokesman said the rescue had taken about 45 minutes to free the child's left hand, and the woman's right hand.
They added that staff had also tried to stop the man running off but they had also been concerned about the woman and child, and he had used the confusion to escape.
Rescue worker Li Yang said that both mother and child were treated for shock but had not suffered any other serious injuries to their hands as a result of the incident.
The pair were taken to hospital for a check-up but both were released the same day.
4: At least 20 people injured after an escalator at a Tokyo convention centre jerked to an abrupt halt. The stoppage knocked down dozens of people. The worst of the injuries appears to have been a broken leg.
3: An escalator accident in a Shanghai mall on Saturday resulted in a man losing his leg. The man was cleaning the machine when the accident occurred. Firefighters managed to rush in and save him, but the severity of the injuries he suffered resulted in doctors having to amputate his leg.
1: The surveillance video of an escalator accident in Jingzhou City, central China's Hubei Province, showed that two mall employees had found the danger of escalator five minutes before the accident that caused the death of a woman.
According to the surveillance video, the two shopping mall employees stepped onto the loosen metal panel and found the hidden danger at 10:55, five minutes before the accident, but failed to take any emergency measures such as stopping the escalator and making checks.
They then reported what they saw to their leader of the mall and called for the escalator maintenance staff.
However, the escalator was still running with no customers taking the escalator for the time being. At10:09, a woman with her son took the escalator. The employees warned the women of the danger of the escalator.
The woman lifted her son but still stepped onto the loosen metal panel. The panel collapsed, and the woman pushed out her son when falling into the escalator. One employee grabbed the boy but failed to pull the woman out of the escalator. Then the woman dropped into the escalator machine and the related upward escalator stopped running while the downward one was still working. At 10:12, more than two minutes later than the time of accident, maintenance staff arrived and stopped the downward escalator.
Rescuers recovered the woman's body from inside the escalator at 14:00. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
