곶감의 도시 상주는?
경상북도 상주는 백두대간의 등줄기에 해당되는 소백산맥이 병풍처럼 둘러쳐져 자연경관이 빼어나며, 영남의 젖줄인 낙동강이 굽이쳐 흐르는 기름진 평야지대로 영남 제일의 곡창지대이며, 쌀, 누에고치, 곶감이 유명하여 삼백의 고장으로 알려져 있으며,최근에는 전국제일의 자전거도시와 한방바이오산업과 더불어 자연과 환경. 인간이 조화를 이루는 생태.환경도시로 주목을 받고 있습니다.

상주곶감축제
호랑이보다 무서운 상주곶감
곶감 하면 반사적으로 떠오르는 곳이 경북 상주다. 시골에서야 산이며 들이며 집집마다 흔한 것이 감나무라지만, 상주에는 유독 곶감으로 만들면 맛있는 둥글둥글한 감이 많이 자란다. 둥글둥글하다고 해서 '상주 둥시'라는 이름을 얻었다. 물기가 적고 탄닌 함량이 높아 곶감 만들기에 좋은 품종이다.
청도 반시, 산청 고종시, 임실 먹시, 논산 월하시 등 전국에는 지역 특성에 따라 맛도 모양도 유래도 다른 여러 감 품종이 있지만 그중에서도 상주 둥시로 만든 상주곶감은 예부터 한겨울 추위를 잊게 할 만큼 입에 착착 감기는 달고 보드라운 맛으로 유명하다. 전국에서는 처음으로 임금에게 진상되었다는 《예종실록》의 기록도 상주곶감의 맛을 입증한다.
감을 말려 곶감이 되면 당도는 3~4배가 되고 비타민 등 영양가도 훨씬 높아진다. 호랑이가 온대도 울음을 그치지 않던 아이가 곶감을 주면 금방 울음을 그치고 방긋방긋 웃는다는 이야기는 상주곶감의 감칠맛을 한마디로 설명한다. 곶감은 기관지염이나 설사, 체했을 때 달여 먹으면 좋은 약이 된다고 한다. 추위를 많이 타는 사람이 먹으면 몸이 따뜻해지는 효과까지 있다니 한겨울 간식으로도 손색없다.
한겨울 추위 녹이는 상주곶감축제
최근 단장을 마친 외남면 곶감공원과 해마다 풍성해지는 곶감축제는 정재현 상주시의원의 기획으로 시작됐다. 겉만 떠들썩한 전시성 축제보다는 농가에 실질적으로 도움이 되는 축제를 만들고 싶었어요. 곶감 농가가 살아야 곶감이 살고, 곶감이 살아야 마을이 사는 거니까요.
곶감공원을 조성하면서 구전으로만 떠돌던 곶감과 호랑이 전설을 동화책으로 펴내고 노래도 만들었다. 외남면의 상주곶감축제는 올해로 3회째다. 1회 때 1억을 투자해 준비한 축제에서 곶감 판매로 130억에 달하는 농가 소득을 올렸다. 시중에서보다 곶감을 30% 이상 싸게 살 수 있으니 소비자도 좋고 농민에게도 적잖은 수입이 된다.
해마다 반건시와 건시 일부가 나오기 시작하는 12월 중순에 상주곶감축제가 열리는데 올해는 12월 20일부터 25일까지다. 외남면 곶감공원과 시내의 상주곶감유통센터에서 동시에 진행된다. 축제기간 동안 매일 점심시간 곶감공원에 찾아오는 모든 손님에게 시래기국밥을 무료로 대접한다. 한겨울 추위를 뚫고 곶감축제에 와준 손님에게 드리는 주민들의 작은 정성이다. 축제기간에는 감 깎기 등 다양한 체험행사와 임금님 진상 재현 공연 등 부대행사가 펼쳐진다.
곶감공원 안에는 편백나무펜션이 있다. 주민들이 운영하고 수익도 주민의 몫이다. 이 역시 곶감 농가의 소득이 된다. 멀리 이동하지 않아도 한자리에서 곶감길을 걷고, 곶감축제를 즐기고, 온 가족이 둘러앉아 도란도란 곶감을 나눠 먹으며 겨울밤을 보내기에 그만이다.

We took a bus from Chunju Bus Terminal to Jeomchon town to avoid a major hill but we were not spare from climbing there were still some steep ascend. Sangju Bicycle Museum was on the day's list. We did 52km on this strenuous day.

I took roughly my daily commute from Jamsil,over the bridge to Gangbyeon, along the North side of the Han River, then back over a different bridge, along the South side of the river, then a detour through Sincheon red light district... until the battery died.
As some have pointed out... I am getting over a cold. So sorry for the phlegm and wheezing!
Edit: I replaced the audio with classical music because I was disgusting myself with the phlegm. Hahaha.

เราก็ชวนเขาคุย และทราบมาว่า
เขาทำ Guest House สำหรับนักปั่นด้วย
และเคยเป็น นักปั่น cross country เลยตัดสินใจ
จบวันนี้แค่เพียงเท่านี้ ทานข้าวที่ guest house
และเข้าที่พักเลย คุยวางแผนกันว่า สรุปวันต่อไป
เราจะปั่นยังไง ไปถึงไหนดี
ก่อนลุยต่อ ยาวๆ วันพรุ่งนี้แต่เช้าแทน
