Held by Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan (not to be confused with the Sanno Matsuri held in Tokyo), the annual Sanno-sai Festival is held during April 12-14 and features processions, torches at night, violent rocking of portable shrines, and a boat procession on Lake Biwa. 御車山祭2017 Mikurumayama festival in Takaoka, Japan
御車山祭は富山県で最も古く歴史のある曳山祭りで、毎年5月1日に行われます。
御車山と呼ばれる曳山は、天正16年(1588年)に豊臣秀吉が聚楽第に後陽成天皇の行幸を仰いだ時に使用した御所車を前田利家が拝領したものと言い伝えられています。その後、加賀藩2代目藩主前田利長が慶長14年(1609年)に高岡城を築いた際に城下の町民に与えました。以来、山町と呼ばれる城下の10町が代々受け継いでいます。
国の重要有形民俗文化財および重要無形民俗文化財の両方に指定されています。(全国で5例のみ)
2016年、18府県33件の「山・鉾・屋台行事」の中の1件として、ユネスコの無形文化遺産に登録されています。
Takaoka, the second largest city in Toyama ,has special cart festival on May 1st every year. Traditional floats, being pushed and pulled by locals. The floats are beautifully decorated, and they carry several kids on top.
Yama, Hoko, Yatai, float festivals in Japan have been added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2016, this Mikurumayama Festival is one of them.

じんじん祭り2015 Jinjin Festival Kurobe, Toyama
毎年6月24日から26日までの3日間、富山県黒部市三日市にある八心大市比古神社(三島神社)でおこなわれる祭りです。このお祭りは、神主が家や田畑の地神の散在を恐れて、大正14年6月24日を吉日として境内の大ケヤキの根元に塚を作ってお祭りしたことが始まりとされ、地神様に感謝の誠をささげる行事として毎年行われています。
「じんじん祭り」の名称は、地神を「じんじん様」とも呼ぶことに由来し、祭りの期間は東三日市通りに多くの露天商が立ち並びます。
Jinjin Festival is held for three days from June 24 to 26th every year in Kurobe city, Toyama, since 1925 .
During this festival, a lot of Street vendors are selling a wide variety of Street foods and playing.

I joined Male Mikoshi in 12th Sannoh Ichi Festival of Hie Shrine on Sunday 1st June 2014, organaizing Wada Group of 16 perticipants. In this mikoshi festival, about 40 porters of the mikoshi called Rikisha wearing black happi coat and fundoshi loincloth. I call this mikoshi Black Fundoshi Mikoshi. Their black costume is very unique and manly figure. I weared fundoshi loincloth together them.

この作品は、平成26年（2014）６月１日（日）、一泊二日の日程で、富山県富山市に鎮座する日枝神社の春季例大祭である山王祭に併せて開催された第12回とやま山王市の男御輿を密着取材したものです。
この祭では、御輿の担ぎ手を力者（りきしゃ）と呼び、男御輿は全員黒い褌を締めていることから、黒褌御輿（くろふんみこし）と名付けました。山王被り・黒法被・黒褌・黒地下足袋の衣装は、とても凛々しく、全国に例のない黒装束の御輿です。
11年前に町興しの一環として始まった御輿巡行は、当初、黒褌一丁の裸形（らぎょう）で担いでいたことから裸御輿と呼ばれていました。参加者も多く、最盛期には100人を超え、二台の大御輿で町内を巡行していたといいます。
ところが、裸御輿に偏見を持つ現職の富山市長が力者に法被を着させたために、法被を羽織るなら止めるという参加者が続出して年々減り続け、11回目の平成25年は26人になってしまいました。しかし、地元有志は、富山の活性化のために、懸命に御輿渡御を続けています。その姿に感動した筆者は、 翌年、全国連和田グループ第一期16人の代表として加勢し 、筆者も黒褌を締めて取材しました。

Jinkosai in Sanno Festival 2012 (1) (山王祭 神幸祭)
In June of the 10th year of Bunmei (1478), Ota Dokan began worshipping the Hie Shrine's devided tutelary deity, Kawagoe Sannosha,the guardian deity of Edo Castle.
Since then,the Sanno Festival has been held each year in June for more than 500 years.
The Sanno Festival is a collective term that includes more than 20 festivals.
The Jinkosai, the largest parade, which is held only during the major festival years,coinsides with displays of splendid period picture scrolls in the city center.
