Places to see in ( San Sebastian - Spain ) Santa Clara Island
Santa Clara Island is located in San Sebastian, Spain, in the middle of the bay of Donostia. It is located between the two most importants mountains of the city, Urgull and Igueldo. It measures 400 meters across, and rises to a height of 48 meters, with steep sides.
The Santa Clara Island has a small beach which only appears with low tide. There is a small bar and a small port. Despite the small size of the island, the beach has a lifeguard service because of its popularity in the summer. The concrete pier of Santa Clara is served to Donostia by boat, running every 30 minutes.
The Santa Clara Island has an uninhabited lighthouse. At the end of the 16th century, the people of Donostia (San Sebastián) who were infected by the plague were transferred to the island to prevent the spread of infection. The island of Santa Clara is state property, transferred by the state to the commune of San Sebastian under the Decree of October 31, 1968.

Swim to Santa Clara Island in San Sebastian, Spain
Swimming and Kayaking to Santa Clara Island is San Seb
Spain | San Sebastian | Santa Clara Island | Swim
On our last morning, we thought it a good idea to go for a bit of a swim and came up with the idea swimming to Santa Clara Island. We set off from the beach closest to Peine del Viento using the platforms down that end of the beach for you to stop at should you need a half-time breather. I would only recommend swimming if you are confident as it got quite choppy en route to the island however on the way back you came in with the tide. There are boats that take you across as well but as we went early in the morning, we managed to arrive before anyone else got to the island so could walk around as we pleased. I'm not sure how much the boats are but if you can manage a swim across before any other tourists make it there like we did, it is worth it.

San Sebastián / Donostia - Spain’s Most Romantic City | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
San Sebastian is a small city known as Donostia in the Basque language. Shimmering above the breathtaking Concha Bay, this elegant town has a favored location with even more famous golden beaches.
Some of the beaches of San Sebastián are the beautiful La Concha and the spacious Zurriola which is especially attractive for the surfers. Every summer a huge number of tourists flock to this town in Northern Spain to occupy every square inch. The Isla de Santa Clara is also very well known among travellers. Ferries leave a couple of times an hour for the picturesque island so it’s easily accessible.
La Playa de la Concha, is a golden sandy beach sweeping from Parte Vieja (the old town in the heart of the city) in the east, all the way to to Monte Igueldo in the west and it is a wonderful feature of this city.
It is probably, if not, the only city beach in Europe and possibly the world, you’ll want to spend a while at splashing in the sea or people watching. And let’s not forget Playa de Gros (also known as Playa de la Zurriola), a favourite with surfers.
Check out this amazing coastal town and enjoy the video!

Places to see in ( Bermeo - Spain )
Bermeo is a town and municipality in the comarca of Busturialdea. Bermeo is in the province of Biscay, which is part of the autonomous region of the Basque Country in northern Spain.
Bermeo is the most important fishing port in the Basque Country. The town of Bermeo was founded in 1236, and is the largest in Busturialdea. Bermeo was the provincial capital of Biscay from 1476 to 1602.
Tourist attractions include the island of Gaztelugatxe, the Ercilla Tower (a fishing museum), San Juan Gate and the port. Bermeo is connected by Euskotren Trena and BizkaiBus to Bilbao. Bermeo has a number of neighbourhoods: Arana, Artike, Agirre, San Andres, Almike, Arronategi, San Migel, Demiku, Mañu and San Pelaio.
Bermeo's history dates back to the monastery of San Juan of Gaztelugatxe in 1051. In 1082, it is mentioned by Don Lope lñiguez as Sancti Michaelis Arcangeli in Portu of Vermelio. Ferdinand II of Aragon named the town the capital of Biscay on 31 July 1476, a position it held until 1602. Many documents have been destroyed by fire; notable fires occurred in 1297, 1347, 1360, 1422 and 1504. The founding of Bilbao in 1300 also coincided with decline in Bermeo.
Bermeo's economy is based on fishing, and its port is the town's chief source of revenue. It has a fleet of deep-sea vessels, and Bermeo's coastal fisheries are among the region's most important. In addition to fishing, diesel engines and generators are manufactured and the commercial port receives raw materials. Bermeo also has connections with the timber and undersea-gas industries.
Bermeo is connected by road to Mungia (18 km away) by the BI-631 road and to Gernika-Lumo (14 km away) by the BI-2235. The BI-3101 connects the town with Bakio, 12 km away. The capital, Bilbao (33 km away), is reached by the BI-631 and the BI-2235. BizkaiBus connects Bermeo with Guernica, Amorebieta-Etxano, Bilbao, Derio and Bakio. Euskotren Trena connects the town directly with Bilbao, Guernica, Amorebieta-Etxano, Biscay and Gipuzkoa. Bermeo also has taxi and Bermibusa (urban bus) service.
On the road to Bakio is the lighthouse of Matxitxako, on the cape of the same name. Further along is Akatz Island, next to Gaztelugatxe (an island with the San Juan de Gaztelugatxe monastery). During the 14th century a castle topped the island, which was replaced by the monastery. On 29 August a mass celebrates the feast of San Juan. The island is a protected area. Akatz Island, a small island next to Gaztelugatxe, has little vegetation but a significant nesting-bird population. On its cape is the Matxitxako lighthouse, which has good views of the coast and from which cetaceans may be seen. Izaro Island is part of the Urdaibai Reserve.
Bermeo's old town has many houses painted in different colours and narrow streets with squares. Aritzatxu is a small beach. Ercilla Tower is the only remaining tower of 30 towers which defended Bermeo during the Middle Ages. In the old port, it was built at the end of the 15th century and housed the Ercilla family (including Zúñiga, author of The Araucana). In addition to its military use, it housed fishermen and warehoused fish. It was renovated in 1948 with Gothic arches as the Fisherman's Museum; additional renovation was done in 1984 and 1985.
Bermeo's town hall, in Sabino Arana Goiri Square, was built in 1732. With two clocks on its facade, it is one of the town's Artistic Historical Monuments. The Kikunbera house, in Basque Rationalist style, was designed to resemble a ship and has been an Artistic Historical Monument since 1995. Batzoki is a modernist building by Pedro Ispizua.
