Trying to find the Venice train station (Santa Lucia) - The Real Venice
Because the city of Venice is a labyrinth, the Venice train station can be a mission to find, even with the assistance of GPS. This video is not meant to be a travel guide of Venice, but something to give you an idea of what the real Venice it like, the Venice you don't see in the travel shows. The Venice I saw with my own eyes and the Venice I've seen in videos are almost like two different places.

Venice: A Tour - Italy Day 3 - Grand Canal, St. Mark's Square & Basilica, Santa Lucia Station
This is Venice: a Tour, on Day 3 of our 12 day journey across northern and central Italy. Venice is a city of water, built on more than a hundred islands, with bridges, but no roads. Today we arrive in this medieval city in a lagoon, ride a boat the length of the Grand Canal, find ourselves a great hotel, feed pigeons in front of St. Mark’s Basilica, ascend to the top of the Campanile bell tower for a great view over the red-brown roofs, cruise around the island city at sunset, and listen to dueling orchestras in St. Mark’s Square after dark.
Arriving at Stazione di Santa Lucia in Venice, Italy
We arrive by train at Stazione di Santa Lucia and walk outside to buy our ticket for the vaporetto. There is a queue and we gradually inch our way onto the vaporetto for the crowded ride to Rialto. Background music is Crosscut Nightmare by John Deley.
Trains at Venezia Santa Lucia | 05/09/2019

Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. Venice railway station (Venezia Santa Lucia) is one of those European terminals that I have truly wanted to visit and on day eight of my inter-rail holiday across Europe, I finally ceased the chance just I boarded my train to Genoa. All of this was filmed in just 45 minutes during a warm Thursday afternoon on 5th September. Once again, the traffic was sight to behold. A mixture of high-speed units, regional EMU’s and loco-haul sets. This station is truly one you all should go to do trainspotting at because the traffic there won’t disappoint you folks. I even consider this visit one of my favourite trainspotting trips to date. Hope you all enjoy this!
Trains include: Italo ERT 675’s, Frecciarossa ETR 500’s & 1000’s, Frecciabianca E.414, Swiss Federal Railways ETR 610, Trenitalia EMU’s & loco-hauled sets also the EuroExpress. Again, my knowledge of Italian trains isn’t as big as those in the UK.

Places to see in ( Venice - Italy ) Santa Lucia Stazione
Venezia Santa Lucia is the central station of Venice, northeast of Italy. It is a terminus and located at the northern edge of Venice's historic city. The station is one of Venice's two most important railway stations; the other one is Venezia Mestre, a mainline junction station on Venice's mainland district of Mestre. Both Santa-Lucia and Mestre stations are managed by Grandi Stazioni and they are connected to each other by Ponte della Libertà (English: Liberty Bridge).
Venezia Santa Lucia is located in Cannaregio district, the northernmost of the six historic sestieri (districts) of Venice's historic city. It is situated on the northernmost island and near the western end of the Grand Canal. The station lies at the 267 kilometres (166 mi) mark of the Milan–Venice railway. A bridge over the Grand Canal, the Ponte degli Scalzi (or Ponte dei Scalzi) (English: Bridge of the Discalced), links the concourse in front of the station with the sestiere of Santa Croce.
Venice's historic city had access only by river boats or railway until 2008. Since then, a terminal has been built for road transport with car parks and bus stations. Santa Lucia station concourse (not the Rail Station, but the Cruise Ship Port - by monorail to Pzza Roma) has also been connected to Piazzale Roma by light rail over Ponte della Costituzione (English: Constitution Bridge).
Construction of Santa Lucia railway station began in 1860 under the Austrian Empire. In order to make room for both the station building and its forecourt, a convent and the Church of Santa Lucia were demolished in 1861. The station in turn took up the name of this church. The current station building is one of the few modernist buildings facing the Grand Canal. It is the result of a series of plans started up by the rationalist architect Angiolo Mazzoni in 1924 and developed by him over the next decade.
As the current station building is low and wide, it does not dominate its surroundings. The flanks of its façade are decorated with Venetian lions. Behind the façade, there is a sizeable main hall with ticketing facilities, shops, offices and luggage storage facilities. The main hall also leads to the station's 16 platforms.
( Venice - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Venice . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Venice - Italy
