Sanxia's main tourist attractions are the Sanxia Old Street (三峽老街) and the Qingshui Zushi Temple (清水祖師廟, which means Divine Ancestor Temple). Sanxia Old Street is a business street built during Japanese rule. It is a very well preserved example of Japanese colonial architecture of the time. The street features stores selling art, ceramics and local specialty foods, especially Bull Horn croissants.
Sanxia District (三峽區) is the second largest district in New Taipei City after Wulai District.
The old name of Sanxia, Sa-kak-eng (三角湧, meaning triangular surge) refers to the meeting of the Dahan River (大漢溪), Sanxia River (三峽河) and Horizontal River.

Yingge / Sanxia Old Streets
We went for a daytrip from Taipei to Yingge old street and Sanxia old street. Both are about 15 minutes taxi ride away. Fare was about NTD150. Quite interesting. Train ride from Taipei to Yingge TRA station was about 35 minutes. Very easy to travel.
