Bullet Train Ride | Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen Passenger View (Shizuoka to Tokyo, Japan) | OmniHour
Please sit back, relax, and enjoy the passenger view and ambience sounds of a high speed Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen Bullet Train Ride from Shizuoka to Tokyo in Japan. This 1 Hour 4K video was filmed in real time.
Disclaimer: Some parts, like the individual train station stops, have been shortened / cut in this video (to fit the 1 hour mark). For those who are interested; the whole ride took approximately, 1 hour and 9 minutes including stops.
The Youtube compressor seems to struggle with the high speeds at points, our apologizes!
The Shinkansen (Japanese: 新幹線, pronounced [ɕiŋkaꜜɰ̃seɴ], lit. 'new trunk line'), colloquially known in English as the bullet train, is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan. Initially, it was built to connect distant Japanese regions with Tokyo, the capital, in order to aid economic growth and development. Beyond long-distance travel, some sections around the largest metropolitan areas are used as a commuter rail network. It is operated by five Japan Railways Group companies.
The N700 series (N700系 Enu nanahyaku-kei) is a Japanese Shinkansen high-speed train with tilting capability developed jointly by JR Central and JR-West for use on the Tokaido and San'yō Shinkansen lines since 2007, and also operated by JR Kyushu on the Kyushu Shinkansen line.
N700 series trains have a maximum speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), and tilting of up to one degree allows the trains to maintain 270 km/h (168 mph) even on 2,500 m (8,200 ft) radius curves that previously had a maximum speed of 255 km/h (158 mph). Another feature of the N700 is that it accelerates quicker than the older 700 series Shinkansen trains, with a maximum acceleration rate of 2.6 km/h/s. This enables it to reach 270 km/h (170 mph) in only three minutes. Further advancements led to the development of the N700A, an incremental evolution of the N700. N700A trains can reach 285 km/h on 3,000 m curves, allowing the maximum operating speed on the Tōkaidō Shinkansen to be raised to 285 km/h. All N700 series sets have been retrofitted with most of the improvements added to the N700A series, and are now classified as N700A.
Because of these improvements, trains can travel between Tokyo and Osaka on a Nozomi run in as little as 2 hours and 22 minutes on the fastest service (8 minutes faster than before).
Currently, a second revision to the N700 series, the N700S, is undergoing testing and evaluation, with plans to begin replacing all other models from 2020.

There are several lines on the shinkansen: the Hokkaido shinkansen (light green), the Tohoku shinkansen (green), the Joetsu shinkansen (dark green), the Tokaido shinkansen (blue), the Hokuriku shinkansen (brown), the Sanyo shinkansen (indigo), and the Kyushu shinkansen (red). There are also different types. For example, the Tokaido shinkansen and the Sanyo shinkansen have three types: the Nozomi, the Hikari, and the Kodama. The picture below shows the Nozomi.
There are three kinds of shinkansen seats: unreserved seats, reserved seats, and green seats (first-class seats). Some shinkansen stations also have WiFi for travelers from abroad. JR-Central_FREE, JR-EAST_FREE_Wi-Fi, and JR-WEST_FREE_Wi-Fi are available by registering your email address.
The shinkansen (bullet train) is the name of high-speed train in Japan. It is operated by the JR (Japan Railways) companies. The first shinkansen opened in 1964, when Tokyo held the Olympics. The shinkansen is well-known for its safety and punctuality. Since it is first opened in 1964, almost zero major accidents have occurred. Although they run at more than 200 km an hour, they always arrive and depart the shinkansen stations on time
How fast do the Shinkansen trains go?
Since 2014, shinkansen trains run regularly at speeds up to 320 km/h (200 mph), placing them alongside the French TGV and German ICE as the fastest trains in the world. Since 1970, development has also been underway for the Chūō Shinkansen, a planned maglev line from Tokyo to Osaka.
What is the Nozomi train?
Nozomi (のぞみ, Wish) is the fastest train service running on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen lines in Japan. The service stops at only the largest stations, and along the stretch between Shin-Osaka and Hakata, Nozomi services using N700 series equipment reach speeds of 300 km/h (186 mph).

What is a Shinkansen Train???
The shinkansen high-speed trains are the fastest way to discover all of Japan, reaching a speed of 320 km/h (199 mph). The Japan Railways (JR) network, which can be accessed by the Japan Rail Pass, practically covers all the country, with the addition of the new Hokkaido Shinkansen, and the popular Tokaido Shinkansen.
The nine Shinkansen lines take you in different directions around Japan. From Tokyo to the south runs the Tokaido Shinkansen line, connecting the capital with Osaka. The Sanyo Shinkansen line connects Osaka with Fukuoka and, from there, the Kyushu Shinkansen line runs through the island of Kyushu from north to south.
The other six lines either take you north or inland from Tokyo. These are the Akita, Hokuriku, Joetsu, Tohoku, Yamagata Shinkansen lines. Finally, the Hokkaido line takes you the furthest north, all the way to Hokkaido island.
