The World Under Sails: For six weeks we cruise with two crews through the central group of the Azores. In episode 19 you will experience the whole diversity of the archipelago, with extensive land excursions and whale-watching.

North East Madeira Tour
Madeira tours brought to you by This is the Madeira Island North East tour.
The first stop of this tour is in the Caves of São Vicente.
The caves provide a well-organized visit, lasting about 50 minutes and duly conducted by specialist guides. Whilst you are here, you will also watch a stunning, 3D multimedia show about the volcanism that gave rise to these beautiful islands in the Atlantic.
Then go to Ponta Delgada, a village on the north coast by the sea. Here, there is now a new bathing complex that includes two saltwater swimming pools, solarium and bar. We stop for 30 minutes.
The tour continues to the Arco de São Jorge. This village is unique because it is the only village on the coast of Madeira that is completely surrounded by mountains. The Arco de São Jorge is very fertile and capable of producing a variety of agricultural products due to its micro-climate in order to observe the various productions and visit the Rose Garden.
In Cabanas de São Jorge we stop for two hours for lunch and to enjoy the scenery and observe the unique architecture of this parish.
Continuing on our journey along the coast, we next visit Porto da Cruz, one of the parishes of Machico. The attractions of this small town are hidden and will take more than a distracted look to find them. One is the old sugar cane mill, still operating, unchanged with the passage of time, as it did when sugar was first produced here in 1927. One of the most impressive features of this small factory is the tower that measuring 26 meters high.
We continue the tour to Pico Facho, a viewpoint, where we see the beautiful and stunning landscape of Ponta de São Lourenço and Machico.
Our last stop is in Santa Cruz, where we spend 30 minutes in order to rest before returning to Funchal.

We made a short journey from the mouth of Ribeira do Porco, Boaventura - Madeira Island , to the bridge that connects the neighbor village, Arco de S. Jorge , through the old Caminho Real , now known as Caminho da Entrosa.
It called the attention the numerous ruins at the mouth of Ribeira do Porco that was once an important point of loading and unloading of goods also having a sugar mill built by Francisco Antonio Abreu Cardoso in 1899 , using water for the production of brandy.

Macaronesia: Isles of the Blessed (Full)
There are four Atlantic islands in the Macaronesia ecoregion: the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago; Cape Verde, an independent African nation; and two separate autonomous islands of Portugal: Azores and Madeira. This documentary covers all but the Canaries.
Because there is a set of small Micronesian islands in the Pacific, some of which LMM has filmed, like our two series' covering Guam, the Marshalls, Palau, the FSM and the Marianas, many assume there must be a macronesia (a large set of islands) somewhere in the world.
But the word Macaronesia has a completely different etymology and meaning from macronesia. Taken from the ancient Greek word, makárōn nêsoi, mentioned in Homer’s 8th Century BC work, the Odyssey, it refers to a semi-legendary place known as Isles of the Blessed, or the Fortunate Isles, a paradise reserved for special deities who were pure enough to gain entrance to the Elysian Fields.
Some say the islands were a mythical place, others say they were known. Today, the islands have been named Macaronesia in light of this Greek legend.
Is the ancient Greek mythology true? Could these islands truly be the legendary Isles of the Blessed, the Greek's Elysium, or possibly the ancient City of Atlantis?

We create videos around the world educating others as well as bringing to light positive service projects. We have filmed in orphanages, prisons, animal shelters, wildlife conservation projects and the like, and incorporate these with videos on geography, history and culture.

Ponta do Sol, Madeira
This 8.5 km long circular hike of two levadas in Ponta do Sol goes first on Levada do Moinho and then proceeds to Levada Nova. “Moinho” translates as “mill” from Portuguese, as this water path used to serve several windmills. Finding the connecting path between the two levadas was hard, but we made it. There are stunning views and many waterfalls, as well as abyss on certain parts of the route, so be careful.

Wanderung Madeira - Levada Nova und Levada do Moinho (Runde oberhalb Ponta del Sol)
