1.Saraighat Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge constructed over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati.
2. It was opened to traffic in April 1962 by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Mr. B.C. Ganguli was the Engineer of this Bridge.
3.The Lachit Borphukan Park is situated on the south end and Chilarai Park situated on the north end of the bridge.
4.Construction of Saraighat Bridge was started on January 1958. It was opened to goods traffic in October, 1962 and opened for passenger traffic on 7 June 1963. A companion three lane concrete road bridge was inaugurated in 2017.

The coach care centre and the coach yard can be seen. The empty rakes of Kamakhya - Puri Express and Kamakhya - Ranchi Express can also be seen. The locomotive attached to the rake of Kamakhya - Ranchi Express is ALCo WDM3A 16739R of DLS New Guwahati (NGC) and the other loco with a coach is ALCo WDG3A 13629 of DLS Andal (UDL).
Once the train gathers some speed, it approaches towards the famous rail-cum-road bridge: The Saraighat Bridge over River Brahmaputra. It was built in 1962.

Saraighat is a neighborhood in the Indian city of Guwahati, on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra. Sarai was a small village where the old abandoned N.F. Railway station of Amingaon was located. The famous Battle of Saraighat was fought near this place on the river in 1671.
There is a road-cum-rail bridge over the river Brahmaputra joining the north and south banks at Saraighat. This was the first bridge built over the Brahmaputra River in Assam.

New SARAIGHAT BRIDGE on the river of BRHMAPUTRA RIVER at Guwahati Assam
The New Saraighat Bridge, also referred to as the 2nd Saraighat Bridge is a beam bridge in India, connecting the North bank of Assam to South bank of Assam.[1] The bridge spans the Brahmaputra River besides old Saraighat Bridge, from Pandu, Guwahati in the south to Amingaon to the north. The construction of the bridge started in 2007. The total length of the bridge is 1,493.58 metres and it has cost an amount of Rs 475 crore to complete the bridge. It is constructed by India's largest civil engineering company, Gammon India Limited.
The three lane road bridge was inaugurated by Union minister Nitin Gadkari on the presence of Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Transport and Parliamentary Affairs Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of PWD , Fishery’s and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister Keshab Mahanta and many other ministers on 28 January 2017.

Saraighat bridge is located near Kamakhya Rly Station Guwahati (Assam).
Saraighat Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge constructed over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati. It was opened to traffic in April 1962 by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The Lachit Borphukan Park is situated on the south end and Chilarai Park situated on the north end of the bridge. The bridge was built for the North Frontier Railway.
The estimated cost of the bridge was Rs.10,65,16,891. A new three lane concrete road bridge is being constructed by the side of the Saraighat Bridge.
Saraighat is a historical place where fight between the Mughals and the Ahoms(rulers of assam from the 12th century for about 600 years) took place where the Ahoms triumphed.

The newly built saraighat bridge is one way with 3 lanes. This bridge is for vehicles going from jalukbari towards amingaon. The old one which is on the right is for vehicles from amingaon towards jalukbari.
