Saras Baug is a major landmark in the city of Punein India. The place where the park now stands was once occupied by a small lake. However, the lake dried up and was later developed into Saras Baug. The whole 25-acre (10 ha) complex is known as Saras Baug. The Ganesh temple in Saras Baug is also known as Talyatla Ganpati (in Marathi:तळ्यातला गणपती ) which translates as the Ganpati in the lake
The Construction of the Temple started in 1750 under the direction of Naansaheb Peshwe, the de facto head of the Maratha confederacy. The construction of the temple was completed in 1784 with the idol of Hindu Lord Ganesh in the temple. The temple was built in the lake near the Parvati Temple, which was also the primary residence of the Peshwa family. The inscription in the temple reads:
The temple was also used for military strategy discussions by the Marathas against the Nizamand the British Empire in the 18th & 19th century as it was situated away from the Parvati Temple. Earlier the garden was not in place and there was a lake and a small temple at the center. The temple used to be called as Talyatla Ganapati (Ganesh temple in the lake). The Peshwa, his commander, and the advisors would go in the lake by boat to discuss the issue and plans. It is also recorded that the boats were steered by non-natives like Africans for complete secrecy, as they did not understand the local Marathi language.
The temple and the area surrounding it were renovated several times in the last 2 centuries. One of the renovations was carried out in 1842 with the help of the East India Company of the British empire.
The last major renovation took place in 1969 under the direction of Mahadev Kumthekar and Anandrao Mane. As part of the last renovation a zoo called Peshwe Park was added to this 25-acre (10 ha) area. Then, starting in 1999 and ending in 2005, the animals at the zoo were all moved to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park situated in the south of the city. This garden and temple are one of the primary landmarks of Pune.
In 1995, a small museum, displaying over a few hundred idols of Lord Ganesha, was added to the temple premises.

Ganapatimandir of Sarasbag
This park is an important tourist attraction in Pune. There was a worship of Ganapati Peshwa in this garden situated on the foothills of the mountain.
In the year of 1750, the construction of an artificial lake on the boundary of the Aambil was started at the foot of the mountain in the reign of Shrimant Nanasaheb Peshwa. The pond work was running from 1750 to 1753. The area of the pond would be approximately 25 acres wide. This tank was used for boating. The pond was abandoned by the birds. While digging the work of the pond, approximately 25000 sq ft island was built in Tilwa and it was reserved for the construction of the temple and garden garden. After that beautiful garden was built on the island and Srimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshve named the poetic 'Saras Bagh' of this garden.
In 1784, Srimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshve built a small temple on the island of Lake and established an idol of Lord Siddhivinayak Ganjana. Naturally, mountains, storks, and lakes became the places of worship and devotion to Puneites.
During the pre-independence era around 1861, many seats in the city were given to Pune Municipal Corporation. At that time, the transfer of the lake from the island of Ganpati to the Pune Municipal Corporation was transferred. The park was developed from the Pune Municipal Corporation in the year 1966 in the lake area.

The Sarasbaug temple houses the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak. A sacred ground of faith for millions of devotees in Pune and around the world, on an average the Sarasbaug temple receives ten thousand visitors a day and this figure goes up to eighty thousand devotees per day on Ganesha Chaturthi and other special occasions. Various dignitaries and luminaries throughout India have made it a point to visit this sacred temple to seek the
blessings of Shri Siddivinayak.
Brief history
In the 18th century, soon after completion of Shree Devdeveshwar Temple on Parvati hill, Shrimant Balaji Baji Rao turned his attention towards the development and beautification of environs of Parvati hills. He decided to construct a lake at the foothills of Parvati. An island of about 25,000 sq.ft. (2,370 m2) area was retained in the middle of this lake. Later on, a beautiful garden was created on this island. Shrimant Nanasaheb Peshwa gave it a poetic name, “Sarasbaug”.
In 1784, Shrimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa built a small temple in Sarasbaug and installed the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak Gajanan, the God he worshiped. Sarasbaug has now become a place of worship for people from all over the world and also a popular hang-out for Punekars.
Shaniwarwada is an 18th-century fortification in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India. Built in 1732, it was the seat of the Peshwa rulers of the Maratha Empire until 1818, when the Peshwas lost control to the East India Company after the Third Anglo-Maratha War. Following the rise of the Maratha Empire, the palace became the center of Indian politics in the 18th century.
The fort itself was largely destroyed in 1828 by an unexplained fire, but the surviving structures are now maintained as a tourist site.
Peshwa Baji Rao I, prime minister to Chattrapati Shahu, laid the ceremonial foundation of his own residence on Saturday, January 10, 1730. It was named Shaniwarwada from the Marathi words Shaniwar (Saturday) and Wada (a general term for any residence complex). Teak was imported from the jungles of Junnar, stone was brought from the nearby quarries of Chinchwad, and Lime (mineral) was brought from the lime-belts of Jejuri. Shaniwarwada was completed in 1732, at a total cost of Rs. 16,110, a very large sum at the time.
The opening ceremony was performed according to Hindu religious customs, on January 22, 1732, another Saturday chosen for being a particularly auspicious day.
Later the Peshwas made several additions, including the fortification walls, with bastions and gates; court halls and other buildings; fountains and reservoirs. Currently, the perimeter fortification wall has five gateways and nine bastion towers, enclosing a garden complex with the foundations of the original buildings. It is situated near the Mula-Mutha River, in Kasba Peth.
