Life in Tokyo, Japan | What is it like Living in Japan as Foreigners?
Come join us for our life in Tokyo, Japan vlog where we highlight what it is like living in Japan as foreigners by showing you a typical non-travel day where we do things like go grocery shopping, do our laundry, work on video editing and grab a cheap inexpensive local meal.
We start off the day by showing you guys our breakfast in our apartment in Tokyo which was basically just green tea, peanut butter, banana and bread. Afterwards we do a bit of work on our computers before heading out to do laundry.
Lunch consisted of visiting an inexpensive ramen joint where Audrey ordered a bowl of ramen and I had mixed rice with a sweet and sour glaze and shrimp.
Next up we picked up some fruit from a local vendor before doing some more filming work and having dinner in our apartment which consisted of sushi and red wine. To finish things off we show you around our neighborhood at night.
So yeah basically this is our life in Tokyo, Japan on a typical day. Do you have experience living in Japan as a foreigner? Let us know in the comments below.

Life in Tokyo, Japan | What is it like Living in Japan as Foreigners Travel Food Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. It is a Sunday here in Tokyo. And we thought we'd do something a little bit different. Like we've been out sightseeing. Filming food videos. Running around but obviously not everyday is like that. We wanted to do a casual a day in our life in Tokyo video on a rainy Sunday seems like a good idea. On a rainy Sunday. And we are just sitting down here at our chabudai which is a traditional Japanese table. Low to the ground. We are having breakfast. Yes. And the plan basically is yeah just going to be a day in the life in Japan so we are going to go out maybe show you our neighborhood. Maybe have some ramen for lunch. We've been talking about that.
We're thinking of doing laundry today. We have to do laundry. It has been a while. Our clothes don't magically clean themselves. No. We are also maybe going to go for a little walk there is a little stream nearby our house. Yes. So it is just going to basically be a typical day here in Tokyo, Japan. And we're also going to show you just what we get up to when we're not really doing a sightseeing day here. Yes. But first breakfast.
Laundry is done. Now it is time for lunch. Yes and so because I didn't have breakfast my appetite has been growing by the hour. I'm so ready for it whatever it is we have. We are not sure what is open on a Sunday but I think we're going to try the ramen spot that is nearby.
Yes there is one near the subway station that I've been to a couple of times. And it is super cheap and the noodles are really tasty.
We are heading back to our apartment now. Yep. I hope you guys enjoyed this day in the life vlog. Yeah. Getting to see what our daily routine in Tokyo has been like. Yeah. It has just been like we've been living here in Tokyo for quite a while so it is just cool to show you like what a slice of our life is like here. Yeah. Well by a while we mean like almost a month which for us is a long time when you're traveling full time. Oh and there is gate opening. Parking lot gate. But yeah I mean that was a little taste of what we get up to on days when we aren't filming or sightseeing. We were filming videos in our apartment but I mean yeah you get the idea. So yeah productive day. We made a whole bunch of videos. We did our laundry. We cleaned up the apartment and now I think we're going to go chill so we'll see you guys in the next video.

Octopus slices with sesame dipping sauce (Muneo-sukhoe: 문어숙회)
Today I’m going to show you a great way to eat cooked octopus: as tenderly cooked slices served with a nutty sesame dipping sauce. This is the traditional Korean style to eat octopus, called Muneo-sukhoe (문어숙회). Full recipe:

Traditional Japanese Meal with Mountain Vegetables (Sansai Ryori - 山菜) in Takayama, Japan
Join us for a traditional Japanese meal as we sample various kinds of mountain vegetables (known as Sansai Ryori - 山菜) at a restaurant in Takayama, Japan. For the longest time, we had both really wanted to sample Japanese food in a restaurant with traditional decor and seating arrangements. On a wet and rainy day in Takayama, it was the perfect opportunity to enjoy a nice leisurely meal sampling a type of Japanese cuisine we've never had before.
We ended up ordering two kinds of Sansai Ryori platters which featured compartmentalized dishes of various kinds of pickled and seasoned mountain vegetables. For instance, we had wild mushrooms, tofu, tofu skin, pickles, radishes, water chestnuts, bamboo, roots and shoots. Each platter also came with a bowl of rice and a cup of green tea. The only difference between the platters was that Sam's came with fish and meat.
The presentation of the meal was incredible with such attention to detail to all of the arrangements of food. We also enjoyed sitting down at a traditional table in a communal setting. If you're thinking of enjoying a traditional Japanese meal, in the style of vegetarian Buddhist food, we couldn't recommend trying Sansai Ryori more highly when visiting Takayama, Japan.

Traditional Japanese Meal with Mountain Vegetables (Sansai Ryori - 山菜) in Takayama, Japan Video Transcript:
It is lunchtime here in Takayama. It is a very rainy day yeah
and we were welcome to the city with a torrential downpour and it hasn't really stopped. There was actually a thunderstorm last night and there was a weather warning. It was flooding but anyways we are going out for lunch today and we have read about something called some Sansai Ryori - 山菜 and apparently this is like wild edible plant and shoots and roots and blooms so we think we have found a restaurant that specializes in this. We're gonna go eat wild stuff other place wild mountain vegetables.
Check out this variety I have so many like little dishes and even on my big plate I have so many like little mounds of your like shoots and greens and the roots. Like this looks amazing so what we're having today apparently it's a PPP which means Mountain
vegetables and the whole idea with this is that they're foraged as opposed to grown in a farm so you kind of have to like and go out and collect it. Honestly, I can probably identify five things on my plate tops but everything looks wonderful. I'm gonna give you a little tour of my plate.
It looks like soft tofu with a bit of ginger on top then we've got some greens going on over here. Let's just start trying things. It tastes like something that grows in water. Little shoots over here that's nice. It just tastes like really juicy and fresh. I've got something that looks a bit crunchy over here that is sweet like a radish. Maybe over here I recognize the Lotus lotus root that's very distinct. It has a very distinct shape that's easy to identify. This looks like bamboo shoots. I've got a little potato happening here you're doing a little better identify these this looks like a tofu spongy thing. Tofu skin.
It is so nice to have this incredible traditional Japanese food and even the setting in here. This kind of reminds me of like whenever I imagined a traditional Japanese meal in my mind it looks a lot like this.
The dishes were beautiful. Just the presentation was was so on point. Time to talk about the price. Sam's which had some meat and some fish was 1950 yen and mine which was completely vegetarian was 1450 yen so converting that into dollars the total was 30 US dollars.
15 per person I'd say that's that's pretty incredible value because it was amazing. You're like in such a cool traditional restaurant and it's such a unique experience.

What a Japanese Childcare Centre is Like
In this episode, we visit Azalee Nursery School (Hoikuen) and take a tour of the childcare centre. In Canada, we'd probably call this a mix between a daycare and preschool.

Japanese Inn & Kaiseki Cuisine: The Ryokan Stay Experience
A Traditional Japanese Inn stay can be the highlight of any trip to Japan, and this comprehensive tour of 13 hot spring towns will give you a complete picture of what to expect during a stay. From the tatami room to the kitchen and dining room, this is the story of the Ryokan.
After 20 years living in Japan, a Ryokan stay is the most authentic experience one can have traveling the country and Fukushima, Japan's third largest prefecture, is famous for that countryside charm and service found around its mountains. It's only a 75 minute Shinkansen train ride from Tokyo making it an ideal getaway from more crowded spots like Nikko and Hakone. In this video, you will see exactly what you will get from start to finish.
As Japan moves closer to the 2020 Olympics, services are catering more to international visitors and these hotels featured are all accommodating and friendly places, staff learning English to communicate with people from around the world.
▶︎ What is Kaiseki Ryori / Cuisine?
It's a traditional Japanese dinner with many courses including a starter, soup, side items, main course and dessert.
★ Sashimi / Sushi
★ Sukiyaki
★ Yakiniku
★ Tempura
★ Miso Soup
It's all here, and it's all prepared with local ingredients of the season, always freshly made in the kitchen.
▶︎ How much is a night at a Ryokan / Traditional Japanese Inn?
It is usually charged by the person instead of the room because it includes 2 meals, dinner and breakfast. On average, I have spent between 12,000 yen ($100) to 22,000 ($180) per person for a night and here is why it is worth it.
Of all the experiences you will have in Japan, this will be the one you remember the most, dressing in a cotton kimono (yukata) to walk down to dinner, bathing outdoors in a hot spring in the snow, extraordinary Japanese service, amazingly beautiful meals ... you're paying for an experience not just a stay.

Korean Seafood Breakfast - BIG OCTOPUS + Extreme SQUIRTING Seafood in Seoul, South Korea!
????King of KOREAN BBQ:

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - One of the best Korean food experiences in Seoul is to go to the fish market, buy a bunch of fresh live seafood, and have them cook it all up immediately at one of the restaurants upstairs. It doesn’t get more fresh and fun for eating Korean seafood in Seoul. We were a bit short on time, so we decided to do it for breakfast, and one of the best things is, the seafood market is open 24 hours a day! #KoreanFood #Seafood #Seoul
Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market - If you love seafood, this is the place you have to come when you’re in Seoul. Much of the seafood is even kept live and in tanks for water before it’s sold. The hardest part is knowing which stall at the market to buy your seafood from as there’s such a diversity and so many stalls.
Stall #17 - We walked around for a while until finding a very friendly lady who was at Stall #17 - I would highly recommend her, she’s fair and she’s really nice, and has great seafood. We shopped for a while, choosing a mix of seafood, and squirting sea squirts. All seafood - 113,000 KRW ($95.19)
Sashimi plate - 70,000 KRW ($58.97) - Just across from Stall #17 we also bought an impulse plate of sashimi.
Next, someone appeared and carried our seafood upstairs for us. After making a round, we chose a restaurant upstairs with traditional Korean food low tables and the ladies running the restaurant were very friendly. They made a variety of different dishes, cooked a few, and sliced and diced most raw onto plates. The benefit of sitting at a restaurant is that you get all the Korean food side dishes. The seafood was unbelievably fresh, from the live octopus (one of the delicacies of Korean food) to the multiple variations of sea squirts, spoon worms, and sea cucumbers. It was a meal of unique flavors and textures, and some seriously exotic seafood. Cooking and side dishes at restaurant for 6 people - 99,000 KRW ($83.40)

01 Nothing's Over
02 Shot
03 Can You Smile (Remake)
