The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame on go! Swift Current.
Designed by P3 Architecture, the hall was created to celebrate the rich hockey history in the province. This year, P3 Architecture was recognized for their work and was presented with a Premier's Award for Excellence in Design. Shaw TV had the opportunity to chat with Brad Pickard, one of the lead designers of the hall. He shared with us the story behind the structure of what we know as the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame.

The event was being presented by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association, the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall Of Fame, the Weyburn Red Wings, and the City Of Weyburn.

Swift Current Documentary
The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre opened its doors less than a year ago. Since May 2013, The centre has helped over 3800 child victims of abuse. Swift Current Broncos Memorial Monument Unveiled
southwesttvnews.com December 30,1986 is a day many won't soon forget as 4 players of the Swift Current Broncos were killed on a bus accident. Now 30 years later and a special monument was unveiled honoring Scott Krueger, Trent Kresse, Chris Mantyka and Brent Ruff. The project was spear-headed by local resident Bill Lee.

The national spotlight shone on Southwest Saskatchewan as Swift Current hosted the 2019 Hockey Day in Canada which included a special dedication to Sheldon Kennedy. Provincial dignitaries were in Swift Current for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new helipad at the Cypress Regional Hospital.

The History of Hockey in Swift Current: 1900-1967
The sport of hockey has come a long way in Swift Current, from kids skating on the creek to outdoor rinks to numerous indoor ice surfaces throughout the city. As teams have risen and folded, the love of the game that permeates the community hasn't changed.
In this installment of the Stories from the Great Southwest, we chronicle the history of hockey through the ages, from 1900 to 1967. We look at the beloved heroes of hockey in the early days, the places they played and the teams they played for, as Swift Current slowly established itself as a hockey town to rival any other in Saskatchewan.
