Carillon | Campanile 100
Video by Roxanne Makasdjian and Phl Ebiner
UC Berkeley's Sather Tower, or the Campanile, has a grand carillon with 61 bells; the largest weighs 5.25 tons. UC Berkeley has the only permanent, full-time carillonist position at a North American university, and University Carillonist Jeff Davis’ teaching program is the most extensive at a U.S. university with a bell tower.

The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley, Berkeley, Cal, or California) is a public research university in Berkeley, California. UC Berkeley Campanile Light & Music Show (Full Length)
A yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of Sather Tower, often called The Campanile, on its 100th anniversary, kicked off with “Natural Frequencies, three 10-minute performances. The show was a combination of light and music on the Campanile’s west and north facing exterior walls, and the sounds of synthetic bells playing alongside live carillon music in the tower, all activated by live data from a seismometer inside the nearby Hayward Fault.
University Carillonist Jeff Davis, along with carillonist Tiffany Ng, played the bells in the tower. The event was a joint effort between the UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory, the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies, the Department of Music and the Berkeley Center for New Media. Meyer Sound handled the audio and lighting.
The concept was the work of professors Ken Goldberg, Ed Campion and Greg Niemeyer, along with Perrin Meyer of Meyer Sound in West Berkeley.

University of California Berkeley Campus Video Tour
WATCH IN HD! Campus tour of the University of California Berkeley. I don’t know what it is about this university but I would say it’s probably my favorite campus I’ve been to so far. Love the terrain, natural beauty with all the different trees, historic buildings, and the fact that it overlooks the San Francisco Bay. I really like the different views of Sather Tower all throughout campus. It has always been a dream of mine to study here. Very inspiring campus with plenty of character. One of the best engineering schools in the world, among many other things. I was hoping for nice sunny day but unfortunately it was cloudy with showers. But when I think of Berkeley cloudy weather comes to mind so it was only fitting.

Berkeley University of California 1868
The University of California was founded in 1868, born out of a vision in the State Constitution of a university that would contribute even more than California's gold to the glory and happiness of advancing generations.

Hoover Tower At Stanford University

Here is footage from the Hoover Tower in Palo Alto at Stanford University. Unfortunately video cameras are not allowed at the top which explains the still photos but enjoy the video shots along the ground and many photos from the top. Info about this tower is found below.
Hoover Tower is a 285 feet (87 m) structure on the campus of Stanford University in Stanford, California. The tower houses the Hoover Institution Library and Archives, an archive collection founded by Herbert Hoover before he became President of the United States. Hoover had amassed a large collection of materials related to early 20th century history; he donated them to Stanford, his alma mater, to found a library of war, revolution and peace. Hoover Tower also houses the Hoover Institution research center and think tank.
Hoover Tower, inspired by the cathedral tower at Salamanca, was finished in 1941, the year of Stanford's 50th anniversary. It was designed by architect Arthur Brown, Jr.
The tower has a carillon of 48 bells cast in Belgium and the Netherlands and the general public is not allowed at the top of the tower when the bells ring. The largest bell weighs in at 2.5 tons. The first nine floors of the tower are library stacks and the next three floors are used for offices. Exiled Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn lived on the 11th floor for some time upon invitation by Stanford University before he moved in 1976.
From the Hoover Tower one can see all of the Stanford campus The observation deck platform is 250 feet (76 m) above the ground, and provides an expansive view of the Stanford University campus and surrounding area. On clear days it is possible to see all the way to the distant skyline of San Francisco. Hoover Tower was struck by lightning, causing a 300-pound ornamental concrete ball to fall from the top of the tower onto a parking lot. Shot 4/23/14
