Autumn Roses at Satomi Park, Ichikawa, Chiba Pref. 「里見公園の薔薇」
Satomi Park, which is located in Ichikawa, provides visitors with a good place to relax all year round. In March-April it offers cherry blossoms. And in both spring and autumn thousands of roses including species given to the city by Rosenheim
City, Germany, as a token of friendship. On Saturdays and Sundays lots of people come here to enjoy the beauty of roses. Not only that, it you go into the deepest part of the park, you can see The Tokyo Sky Tree Tower.

市川散歩 里見公園を写す A stroll in Ichikawa; the park Satomi-koen
I visit Ichikawa city some time a month.
But I have not walked in the city so much,
I decided to go out for a walk in the city,
especially around the area which is called Konodai town(国府台).
It's a part of Chiba prefecture in Japan.
In this town,there is a large park which is called Satomi-koen(里見公園).
This park is well known as a place in which we can enjoy watching flowers of rose in its season,especially spring and fall.
We can see its flowers in two or three months' time,if it become cooler.
Roses in Full Bloom at Satomi Park, Ichikawa
Now it's time for roses to be in full bloom. At Satomi Park in my neighborhood a wide variety of roses including ones sent from Rosenheim City, Germany, are in full bloom. They are incredibly beautiful and goregous, so much so that being among them I felt like I were in a dreamland.

市川真間山 弘法寺を訪れて有名な枝垂れ桜を撮影してきました。伏姫桜としてよく知られております。
今回初めて市川駅前から弘法寺に至る山道、弘法寺の山門の階段の前にあるつぎばしと手児奈霊神堂も
撮影してきました。
手児奈というのは今回初めて知りましたが、古代の日本の美女だそうです。あまりに美しいので彼女に求婚する
男性たちのいさかいが絶えず、彼女は原因は自分にあると思い、悲しみのあまり身投げして自殺したとされる
一種の悲劇なのだそうです。
前からこの霊神堂を撮影したいと思っていましたが今一つ機会に恵まれませんでした。
弘法寺に行く前にここを撮影した動画も付け加えました。
昨年の訪問では既に散って葉桜となりつつある伏姫桜しか撮影できませんでしたが
今回はかなりいい状態で撮影できたように思いますが、いかんせん伏姫桜は老木で目一杯花開く
体力は年々失われているようです。地元の人でも満開時期を予測しづらいというほどで、この境内の
位置からして、やや日も十分に当たらないのではないかとも思います。
しかし老木の佇まいはこれはこれでいいものだなと思います。
ソメイヨシノはまだ6か7分咲きという感じでした。
この動画はYouTubeで知り合った大事な友人、去年70代で5月に亡くなわれた1216NORIさんに捧げます。
このお寺と桜は彼の動画に教わったものです。
彼がかつて尋ねた動画に記録された場所を僕もやがて順に尋ねて歩いていけたら、と考えています。
ぜひ直接お会いして色々教わりたかった。本当に惜しい方を亡くしたと思います。

I visited Ichikawa Mamasan Guhoji 市川真間山 弘法寺 temple to see and shoot
one of the most famous weeping cherry tree Fushihime Zakura 伏姫桜
and its blossom.
I also visit this temple last year but I missed the best season of this weeping cherry tree,
so I felt strong regret then.
I hoped to catch the best state of the blossom but the local often say it’s really hard to
see the weeping cherry tree when it has fully bloomed.
As you can see in this movie,there are two weeping trees in this temple
and the left one is Fushihime Zakura 伏姫桜 and the right one is younger one and
in this time it did not bloomed.
Fushihime Zakura is very old tree, it is said this weeping cherry tree has lives for 400 years long
and it seems to lose its strength to bloom lots of flowers on its branches energetically.
But I love this tree very much,I think this tree has its own unique attractiveness.
Certainly this tree has lost its youth,but its atmosphere is really rare and worth seeing.
I dedicate this movie to my YouTube friend 1216NORI.
He was a citizen of Ichikawa city and an amateur videographer with great technique.
I respect him very much.
But he died in May last year.
He visited this temple and upload videos about this weeping cherry tree to
YouTube service.
Originally it was the reason why I know the temple and this cherry tree.
I would like to say thank you to him.
PS 手児奈 Tekona is a name of the beauty appears in the old Japanese story Manyohshu 万葉集.
According to the story,Tekona was a beauty who had really lived long time ago and
she was beautiful too much.
Many of men wanted to get married with her and they quarreled each other
for her and she felt extremely sad about that and she thought that the reason of those
quarrels was herself and at last she decided to commit suicide.
She killed herself by jumping to the river.
This is known as a kind of tragedy.

The City of Ichikawa, Chiba Pref., where I live, has been making efforts to be called a time-honored rose city. For that purpose they have been cultivating and improving rose gardens in the city. Of them the rose garden at Satomi Park you watch on this video may be one of the most splendid rose gardens. On my way home from a hospital I dropped by this park and found myself very fortunate since the roses was in full bloom.
私が住んでいる市川市は「由緒あるバラの街」を目指して、バラの植樹をしたり、既存のバラ園を改良したりして、市内の多くの場所でバラをみることができます。その中でもこの里見公園は最も美しいバラ園を持つ公園の一つかもしれません。今日立ち寄ったらバラが満開、幸せな気分になれた一日でした。

Ichikawa City, Chiba Pref., has many good spots for cherry blossom viewing even though the number is fewer than it used to be. On this day I went to one of them, Satomi Park to enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms. As is usual with this park, it was so crowded with people.
